ATP/CTP experiencing the TAWs/TCAS events! Like and Subscribe!
In a continuation of exploring some of the events ATP/CTP candidates get while in the simulator, here is a TAWs event with escape maneuver followed by a TCAS event. As in all ATP/CTP events, this is for experience only, not a checking or type rating event.

Don't deselect the A/THR before selecting TOGA. You're creating work for yourself later. You'll lose the LVR CLB flashing cue, THR selection on the FMA (which means you need to count 2 clicks back or look at the EWD to confirm thrust setting) i.e. THR CLB, and auto thrust automatic reengagement (unless in TOGA LK). I also recommend not calling speed... see Capt Warren Vadenburgh's take on it in his videos. To miss the ground, the highest threat, you might need to pull all the way back to alpha max.

So where is the ROTATE callout lol?
You won't overspeed the flaps in Flaps 1. Rely on the auto flap retract function. Remember, it's only an overspeed if you get the ecam overspeed warning as the barbers pole is only a reflection on handle and speed, not the actual flap position. Different if you were in an A350.
forgot the "MAN FLEX SRS RUNWAY AUTOTHRUST BLUE" callout and its not "positive rate" for airbus its "positive climb"

Consider replacing the chrome spinners with straight aluminum or painted spinners. The chrome hides cracks until complete failure. ABS Tech Clinic brought that up and I didn’t make the change until after I experienced it.

"Windshear is always Fun" ... That was funny. If you are looking for a challange. Fly raw data using only (A THR off) S/By AH (to make it fun use Mirror looking behind) ... now that is Fun!!!

Captain, do you guys have any issue with this black paint? (AVIONICS for example due to high temperatures)
This is an earlier model of the Bombardier Global Express with Honeywell Primus 2000 avionics package. Serial #'s 9001-9312 had Honeywell avionics. Bombardier switched to Collins "Global Vision" avionics beginning with serial # 9313 and beyond. Also the first Global 5000 was serial # 9127. Both are still being built. Globals are built in Toronto CA.

Are the ProFlight Series 2 headset comfortable in the Barron? Was thinking of getting another headset and still fly general aviation piston aircraft mostly, was told not to get them until im flying jets but have seen plenty of people wearing them in prop planes. Beautiful Barron btw!

Thank you for the reply! This is an ATP/CTP simulator session. It’s to allow ATP candidates in the USA to gain some experience and required before they can take the ATP written. Since we are not type rating them, only allowing them to experience a V1 cut, wind shear, TA/RA, unreliable airspeed etc, we don’t have them perform the checklists or ECAM items. One sim may be in an Airbus, the next in a 777. Look for more videos soon!

Wow N6K I worked on that plane years ago! I put the engines on and we’re overhauled along with props. Replaced the spinners as well. Installed the engine monitor. Nice plane flown in it for maintenance checks and for a trip for a expensive hamburger😆 with the owner. I helped find it a new owner which was another customer of mine with a piper and wanted a twin. He wanted it painted and went went that scheme. It has the STC for those 520’s and props. There is an AD on those props you have to check. Pretty extensive from what I remember. They didn’t want to upgrade the props at that time to eliminate the recurring AD. Yes I tied to get both engines with slick mags but the owner was stubborn on bendix and finally let me talk him into the slicks when I did the firewall forward on the left. Very nice plane.
Thanks Keith! I thought I remembered seeing your name in the logbooks, I will have to go back and look again! The props were just overhauled in 2021, have about 117 hours on them. N6K really moves with IO520's, fun plane to fly for sure.
I think I started taking car of it 2007ish. George had the plane and moved to florida from Ohio. He flew it for several more years then sold it. He used it for work and would go long cross the country trips. He was getting older and hung it up. Steve bought it and upgraded it a-lot. I seen it has dual yoke installed. Steve had bought that when he took to the avionics shop. Yeah the 520’s really make that plane scoot! Have a good one 👍🏻
