It'd be a pretty horrifying weapon/scene in a slllllightly less silly movie lol. But oh man, the face the captain makes at 1:44 has lived rent free in my head for 25 years (I have it on my face more often than I care to admit)

As a youth, this single scene taught me a valuable life lesson. Don't be a follower. Don't do stupid things just because everybody else is doing it.

Fun fact: The director of this movie, Greg Beeman was originally in talks of directing the live action Super Mario Bros movie back in 1991 that was originally a much more faithful adaptation of the games with Danny DeVito as Mario. But because this movie unfortunately a flop, he was fired with the directors for the 1993 movie instead. Which is a shame because this movie's sets, comedy and character designs look like something out of the Mario games. Especially the mushroom creatures.
