Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a versatile logging tool that offers various pieces of critical information, including porosity, pore size distribution, effective porosity, permeability, oil viscosity, gas density, hydrocarbon type, etc. Therefore, compared to conventional logging tools, NMR is robust in terms of the variety of data it provides. In this video, I delve into NMR.

Sonic logging tools measure the travel time of seismic waves in the formation, from which we can estimate the primary porosity. By using the sonic porosity, we can further estimate the secondary porosity index, which serves as a measure of the fracturing level in the formation.

In this video, I elaborate on neutron porosity logs. Additionally, I explain how the integration of neutron porosity with density data helps us 1) estimate the actual porosity, 2) characterize the lithology, and 3) identify gas-saturated zones.
