Was a tour guide in the late 80s and spent a lot of time at Mataranka. Many a good night was spent at the bar then wandering down to the pools with a few beers and candles to finish off the day.

It’s been a few vids since we saw the mighty red rocket! You’re not a serious fisherman without a 6 inch Porosus in your tackle box 🤙 I find those neutral coloured lures work well for trolling, the Barra love em 👏 #owgoodzat

G'day Andy, I remember putting my boat in at night on the Seymour River north of Ingham. The cane farmers ramp was the choice if he left the gate open. The trees would cast dark shadows near the ramp and it was spooky particularly knowing there were crocs in there particularly a large one. I caught some good barra in there as well as Jacks on the famous rock bar in the creek. Many times I fished it alone always at night. The barra you caught was like your best silverware particularly the 87, 88, 91 and 92 OWGOODZAT!! Rods bending lines peeling lifes great in retirement on a beautiful sunny day. I remember those foggy mornings still darkish fishing with my best mate who was also called Andy who’s sadly no longer wish us we used to love those early starts such great times !
