Frankinstax - Shooting in bright sun and using ND filters to shoot the lens wide open.
One thing is having the advantage of shooting Frankinstax and instantly being able to see the picture.
With the nice lenses of Mamiya, its a shame not to be able to shoot it wide open and have that nice bokeh.
Watch my experiments with ND filters and see the results.

    Hi David! Love your work on this. It might be the cleanest back out there. I was wondering if you’d be willing to create an SQ1 frankenstax back, with an offset mounting plate. My goal would be to shoot instax mini, where the center of the film aligns with the center of the lens.

    • @davidb4010
      @davidb4010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your kind words :-) You can actually modify this yourself, you will need to make a cut in the pressure plates on the door so they can still extend with a mini catridge in there, from there it should pretty much work - I think there is a small notch on the Mini films you need to cut off and then its ready to go :-) It will be ofset to the side, due to the ejecting mechanism. I dont see a way to align it in the middle unfortunately :-/

    After investigating possible mechanical causes for out of focus photographs (keep in mind my viewfinder shows perfect focus), it occurred to me that I needed a way to see how sharp an image was when it landed on the film plane. From there I would know which way to adjust the focus screen (up or down) to correct the issue. The method would have to be precise and would require magnifying the image on the film plane. I considered coming up with a hack myself, but then I found David’s solution; a well crafted, extremely precise, 3D printed adapter. It is easy to set up, and was designed to be used in tandem with both the RB67’s existing focus screen as well as the hood/magnifier. David was quick to respond to my questions, and equally fast in producing and shipping my adapter. I highly recommend his design and was thankful for his attention to detail regarding manufacture. His is a very clever solution, and now my focusing issues are solved.
