Mia Thermopolis-The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement monologue
I've always loved The Princess Diaries film series. I used to read the books in middle school a lot but I never finished reading them. This was another monologue from Magic Joo Joo Productions.
This speech that Mia gives as she calls off her own wedding because it didn't feel right for her it really stood out to me even more so as an adult.
There's times where people will tell you what they think you should or shouldn't do, but ultimately it comes down to one person who gets to decide what's right and what isn't right for you: yourself.
Following one's heart is never an easy decision, but in the end, you will thank yourself down the road for doing so. ❤️

Miriam "Midge" Maisel- The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
มุมมอง 96ปีที่แล้ว
A much awaited comeback in posting monologues again! I am happy to finally be sharing some that have been sitting in my phone's folder for a long time, now they will finally be seen! This was from a stand up comedy prompt with the Action Takers community and I chose a scene from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in which she performs a stand up routine for the troops.

This was all improvised. I drew a lot of inspiration from a lot of the classic spy movies such as James Bond and more recently Mission Impossible. Ever notice in these types of films there's always that one character that is super smart and/or aides the main spy character from behind the scenes? That was also something I drew inspiration from. Huge thank you to Jim Smith for helping me come up ...

When I was filming my introduction for the video diaries, it took me a while to get it right. Here is some of the mishaps that happened until I finally got that one piece of film I was happy with. 😆 I have lots more bloopers especially when I filmed the rest of the video diaries that will be coming at some point too. 😆 To watch all four parts of the video diaries, you can do so here: th-cam.com...

I rlly needed this tysm 😭
I love it when people remember the scene from Holland.. shows how much roe cared. They are all trying to get out everything is kaos .. and he just runs right back because theres a wounded man. Absolute hero
Not in this video but i was on the deuce and a half manning the 50 cal and also was the assistant gunner on the 37 mm anti tank gun it was towing
❤ 🙏😁 VERY MUCH SO...THANK YOU FOR BRINGING MEMORIES TO THOSE WHO REMEMBER TO TELL THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT REMEMBER NOR WERE THERE BUT THESE GREAT PEOPLE " WERE " THERE ...GOD BLESS AND LET THE STORIES BE TOLD AND REMAIN IN THE HEART ❤
Thank you for your service and sacrifice!! 🫂🙏🙏🙏❤️🇺🇸☮️
That was wonderful!!!!
Show us the dress she was wearing!
I just auditioned and she only callbacked all the kids that were in her previous show too :( I’m so disappointed in myself. I thought I did so good
im sure you did amazing!!
Had the same thing happen to me today (like the EXACT same thing)
In 2018, long after i had memorised the script as a fan, I learned my great-uncle was in 1st Battalion. He was wounded at Bastogne. I often wonder if he met Renee.
I just finished watching "The Pacific" and this scene really got to me. Poor woman was only married to her husband for 7 months until he was killed in the last days of the war. She was notified of his death on her 32nd birthday. She remained a widow for the next 50 years and never remarried. So many incredible and unforgettable characters. Thanks so much for posting and sharing.
The casting and acting in both the Band of Brothers and the Pacific series are phenomenal. None of thee actors and actresses were well known at that time, but Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and the numerous directors of each installment in these series crafted a masterpiece.
Oh my gosh I posted this a year ago and im still so happy its having such a positive impact on people! Thank you all! It means a lot to me! ☺️♠️
I love that you included others scenes from other episodes too and not just Bastogne!(eventho its my fav episode!) the first time I watched this i was fixed on Winters but by the end, Gene had stolen my heart 😂 Shane Taylor is such a wonderful actor and im so glad hes our Doc Roe! P.s the quote from the book is such a nice touch!
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️ I agree Shane is such a lovely man in real life too 🤩. He's one of the sweetest people I've ever met 🤩
I don’t know if you saw me, but I was the short guy in the 101st airborne 501st PI, or to help out alittle, the diamond on the side of the helmet
I did see some 501st however I'm not sure if I did see you. Were you on one of the jeeps at the end of the Battle(s)?
Yes
@@E.T.A.C.501Oohhh! I think I did see you!!
@@rachelbartlettactor yes
Looks like fun!
It was!!
inspiring film
Oooob yes
Wow👏👏✨🍷
Great version. Good period accent. When I was a kid in the 1970s somebody had the Orson Welles broadcast on LP. I remember listening to it, and it was absolutely brilliant. I read the HG Wells story in a volume with The Time Machine. Both brilliant. I’d like to hear you do the introductory monologue at the beginning of the George Pal film version of The War of the Worlds, another childhood favorite.
Haha! I need to save more of mine when I do this. 😂
I can't wait to put the second one together when I was recording for the video diaries 😆
I love blooper videos. When you made your eyes crossed I just about lost it 😂😂😂😂😂. Thank you Rachel 😎.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed this! 🤩
@@rachelbartlettactor Yes I did and you’re welcome Rachel 😎
Lindsey deserves as much recognition as Taylor Swift <3
Agreed! Although I do love them both ❤️🎻
Your video made my day!! 😊 ... absolutely love the show and have been watching all of this on TH-cam... lovely to see the day from your point of view. Much love all the way from Scotland.
aww thank you so much!! I'm happy you enjoyed watching my video diaries! 🤩
Looks fun! Hope you guys had fun!
It was! 🤩
It was great fun! 🤩
Also that feeling whenever you try recording for your video diaries and the PA system turns on right when you start talking... 😬😬 (It happened way more often than it needed to 😆) or you recorded in a really loud area...and had to make do with everything you got...😬😬
Great video! Well done❤
Thank you Cathy! Part two will be out later today!
Ok i'm going to go out on a limb here. Any impressionist or voice actor will say how they've got a sentence of phrase that they return to if they lose the accent. I think this was Shane Taylor's Doc Roe. It's impossible to say it without slipping into cajun.
See if you can guess what genre I did for this week too. 😎
Days six and seven would appear to be very strong exercises for an actor. Great stuff here!!!! 👍👈 Keep up the great work!!!
Thank you!! I plan on making a more in depth video diary about this challenge soon!
This was great. The hold music had me rolling. Keep up the great work!!!👍👈
Thank you! I had a lot of fun putting this one together 😆
This sounds like if "War of The Worlds" had been narrated by Katherin Hepburn.
Oooo!!! Now that'd be something!!!🤩
Wow this is good. It really does sound like a monologue
Thank you!! If I'm up for it I might record myself performing ME! As a dramatic monologue. I did it once for a class in college I want to do it again!
You are especially good as this character.
Thank you!
This was wonderful as always.
Thank you!! ☺️
❤😊

Your videos always brighten my day a little bit.
I'm glad they do!! 🤩
I don't know how you chose this particular person. The scene you are articulating is very special and very important. Thank you for noticing this piece of history. Your attention to detail regarding your acting is exquisite 👌!
I watched the scene and series. That's how I chose it.
@@rachelbartlettactor you probably have no idea how much that part of the Basilone story is inspiring. Great interpretation!
I would watch you in a one woman play.
Thank you!!
That little speck of dust falling behind me at 0:31 is a paid actor 😆
You really captured Marion's bitterness in that scene. Well done.
Thank you!!! It was fun to do!
You're awesome. Best of luck in your acting career.
Thank you!!😄
The new casting took some getting used to but I really got into it when I did.
Glad you enjoyed it! This was more or less seeing how different angles and working on a set all come together as this was for a camera class I took in college. 😆
I know that music. It’s from Merlin bbc. One of my favorite tv shows. Excellent choice Rachel. As Merlin would say don’t be a prat 😂😂😂😂😂.
It's such a great show isn't it? One of my faves as well. 🤩
@@rachelbartlettactor Yes it fantastic show. So many great moments on the show. I hundred percent agree with you 😎👍😊.
@@methos101 Indeed. Have you seen The Liberator? Bradley James who played King Arthur on Merlin is in the show too.
@@rachelbartlettactor No I haven’t. I’ll have to check it out. Thank you 😊.
@@methos101 Most welcome. 😄 It's a four part animated miniseries that tells the story of Felix Sparks. It's also the book of the same name by Alex Kershaw.
very good
Sometimes when I ask my self if it's worth to go ahead with nursing, I remember of Doc Roe. In this life we do what we can, with what we have to help others, like doc in the war, I try to help with what I have. To serve others, even in hardest of days, Is the true calling, a challenge and a blessing. Thanks Doc for inspiring me to find my calling, profession and direction of life,in the care, love and service of others.
That is so true! Help others in any way you can! I love how you worded that! 🤩
@@rachelbartlettactor Thanks for your kind words ma'am. Love your channel, and I follow the @honoringhistory too. Great job, and merry Christmas. Love from Brazil.

@@leotavares7366 Currently in the process of making another BOB edit as well set to Two Steps From Hell's Men of Honor. It's already made me cry and it's not finished yet.
@@rachelbartlettactor I'm looking forward for it! I guess it will make me cry too haha.
Don't mind the Instagram handle at the end I'm in the process of updating my reel with the monologues and the new one 😅.
This came across my recommended randomly and I was pleasantly surprised! Although, I shouldn't be because I am a huge fan of the show lol 😆. You did great at trying to replicate Olivia, and it sounded like a scene from when she was on trail? I'd love to see you make your way onto the show one day. Good luck 👍💓
Awwww thank you so much for the lovely comment!!☺️ That would be so cool if I ended up on Law & Order!🤩
