Most people are challenged with the subject, and they throw their hands up. I have a 7.9 aorta type B dissection and will get a Tevar on 2/4/25.
Let us know how tomorrow goes @kash6175
Great interview Mike!
inspiring story. My scene with aortic dissection, aneurism type B, and bacterial infection of the mitral valve was a real challenge, but you are a real survivor.
Does anyone happen to know how Mike is doing??
Great advice pull back & limit weight training running to see if it stabilizes. I pulled back whereas I do reps of 15+ and watch BPM
Hello all
Hello Tom!
Great information! I have been a avid mountain biker for years, 3k miles per year. That all came to an screeching stop 2 months ago since being diagnosed with this disease. Waiting on my ct scan with contrast to get a better idea where i am at. Through a routine ct scan for calcium, my aortic measured 4.2.
Great discussion. Helpful information! Thank you to both the aortic aneurysm organizers and doctor experts on this discussion.
Hi, will Dr Mascaro come back to UK at all?
Very interesting and love how the Dr mentioned giving someone a guideline to exercise on their own if insurance doesn't pay. After all even if you do have coverage and go to cardio rehab they are teaching you how to do the work on your own in the long run. Great video
He's great I couldn't recommend him more; I had a very complicated that he took care of. good luck
I had a type A Aortic Dissection and a stroke at the same time last year. I stayed at the hospital for 4 months including rehab PT, OT and speech therapy. My body is still coping I still feel some back pain most of the time and my doctor reminded me to walk everyday and not to carry heavy things. I am so great full of life and thank God, miracles do happen.
It is so good to hear you're doing well I remember those challenges well and was overwhelmed by all the support and I would encourage you to keep up the good work for only you can do it, and your quality of life is worth all your efforts. Life is precious cherish every moment in gratitude.
I sent in my ct scans I’m going to request to see Dr Robert’s
He's a great especially for complicated Dissections good team as well ... I couldn't have been grateful for him...
Thank you so much for sharing. Wishing you continued healing and strength.
Appreciate your willingness to share your experience. My prayer is that all of us who have been diagnosed with this condition realize that we have been given a second chance to make a difference in this world. Stay close to what really matters in life each and every day. God bless and stay strong.
Heya Gregg. I hope you are doing okay. What an amazing story about a terrible ordeal. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing.
Thank you ladies. That was fun. Any one could do this. I have done painting on ceramic bakeware. Now I know I didn't use the correct paint but still it still worked and unintentionally set the paint when I stuck it in the oven to bake something.
by the way I listened to the audio and one thing was a little off ... my boys didn't sell my house as we were leasing a house in the area to see if we're going to build obviously that didn't happen 🙂 they moved me out of my home and sold much of the contents which was great. love those boys and all those that help straighten out everything while I was gone.
I appreciate your thoughts I think life is our miracle and we are along for the ride and yes this is quiet a ride. I hope the story has some value.
thank you I appreciate the time learnings from the process and so many great people who care. Th miracle of life is so precious.
Thanks for sharing your incredible story. So many miracles. Great story telling.
thank you for your comments, it is a story I could have never imagined telling but a dissection seems to change our life's script, and it has numerous wonderful chapters as well as the challenges we have all faced in our journey.
Cousin, we love you, and I'm so happy you're still here.
Thank you for sharing, Kevin. I wasn't the best patient either. They had to put me back under because I was pulling out tubes and fighting with the nursing staff. I'm very impressed with your ability to be happy with your situation so soon after your dissection. I'm two years out from my dissection, and I am just now "looking on the brightside." I never thought I would ever look back at my dissection as being a positive thing. I love your attitude. I hope to see you in one of our support group chats.
Thanks for sharing
Excellent interview. It should be offered as a starter video for all new members.
I found Aortic Hope on youtube. I am very glad I did. I look forward to your story, Kevin.
Me too!
Thank you for sharing this. I'm 5 weeks out from emergency open heart surgery to repair my ascending aorta and replace my aortic valve, and still struggling through it. I couldn't agree more about hospital beds, but it sounds like your hospital food was way better. I was also rehospitalized for a while about a week after I got home the first time to have a ton of fluid drained from my pericardium. I have also been having trouble sleeping, often just afraid to sleep; it was especially bad during that first week at home before they drained the fluid. It's reassuring to see that these things will improve and that you're doing much better now.
Hey John Thanks for sharing your story. I know its tough to relive what happened. 😢 I dissected in October 2023. Similar to yours mine went from my heart to the iliac with most of organs running off the good side, but the dissection runs into my left kidney and into my cephalic. And it was only through a series of unlikely events that I survived at all. Wear your scar like a badge of honour. You survived!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I'm around your age, and I'm now 5 weeks out from a Type A dissection, emergency open heart surgery, ascending aorta repair with a graft and aortic valve replacement. It all happened very suddenly one day for me with no warning at all. I also have a residual dissection that extends around the arch into my descending aorta, but not as extensive as yours. It's early for me, I'm still completely freaked out and struggling every day, but getting stronger and getting by with a lot of support from family and friends. I'm just really grateful to hear your story and get the feeling of not walking this path alone, as you said. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there like this and share your story, and I'm really grateful you did.
Thanks for sharing I had similar 5 year experiences from dissection to mitral valve repair surgery and few other wrinkles lad cabbage and Covid pneumonia
Thank you John. Very informative. I had mine in 12/2021. Every day is a blessing. Take care!
great job telling your story John... thank you
They fixed my ascending dissection. And left the descending dissection. It intrudes into a few other arteries. The fear is real. Keep moving and caring for yourself.
Thank you for sharing your story, Joyce. I have/had a similar experience with PTSD, and hearing your story, and stories like your, helps my recovery immensely.
Thank you for watching! That means a lot. I got nervous and forgot to talk about some things, but I hope the overall message will help others. Maybe I'll have another time to share more.
Hey Tom. Good to hear your story. You have some good advice on recovery and coping with change. I like your attitude... a survivor focused on surviving. And three percent? Wow.
Thank you, Molly. This is good information. Always good information from Aortic Hope TV.
❤looking good
Thank you for this video
Gee, you've got me mispronouncing that now, and I originally wrote it! Need to find a different word! Once you start laughing, that's it.
❤great show ❤thank you ‼️
Hi!!!!
Please send me the details of your application
Thank you!
Thanks Molly. I got there at the end so had to watch most of it on the replay. I did NOT get a notification email with link or you tube icon to pull down on my phone . It finally showed up when i checked in on the you tupe app again I got in just in time to read the comments and to sign up for Bingo tomorrow. I have no A/c so might have to sit outside with Bingo. I 😍❤

Thanks for telling your story. It sounds like you have been on a marathon of a journey. We are coming up on our second year since my wife's aneurysm was discovered. We have been able to seek out and learn along the way and so far, had planned surgeries so she has not had a dissection. We are wearing down because it has gotten increasingly hard to stay positive on our journey. 5 procedures in the last 24 months. Your resilience is inspiring.
Thank you for writing. Yes, there are times it becomes "weighty" and because we live in a "microwave" era ( wanting instant results) it is difficult to wait or be patient for results. That is compounded by watching you special person struggling. 😊 Remember this is an exciting time for survival. And although it is slower going than you would ultimately like, it is stiles made over the past several years that have given so many the gift of life. Reach out anytime...
Hi Erin. Thank you sharing your story with us. I think it is difficult to see things taken away from you, to have little control without much understanding. As I have said I gave my life to their hands for two weeks and then they gave it back to me... to us. It is always good to see our stories through the eyes of our caregivers and supporters. I still have questions and I am not out of the woods yet, but I am glad that I have her to hold my hand as we step once more into the sunshine. So glad to have Tom with us, and you with him. Bless.
Hi Ken, I'm happy your journey has been so positive! Having someone to walk with is empowering. So much has improved in recent years. I pray for your continued healing.
I have one. Goes on the outside of the window.
Thank you for the moment of silence.
Don Martin here. Nice to be remembered, Molly. 😂
