The common Wukong’s armor set is an easter egg left by the dev. In one of the earliest gameplay trailers for BMW, just before the player character can deal the finishing blow to Lingxuzi (wolf boss of chapter 1), he is stopped by the real Wukong wearing this common rarity set. Somewhere between the trailer and the release, the dev went back to redesigning that to the current Wukong’s armor set. (Also small trivia, the leg armor of the set is the only one that comes with a pair of boots, all the other armor sets in the game have you walk around barefoot. So that’s pretty nice I guess) On NG3 with all the relic perks unlocked, it has the highest defense stat (1.5x higher than the Bull King set iirc). Pair that with the Dark Iron Staff which converts your defense into damage and you have a pretty solid build going before adding curios, spirit, etc.

23:10 That specific chest holds the body of the boy whos spirit led you down the well. He was placed there by the Tiger after it was found that the boy and his father were murdered by the villagers. I recommend Banditgames Wukong Videos to learn the lore of the characters.

When you’re trapped in the web in chapter four, the spider (the fourth sister, not second sister) didn’t come to murder you but rescue you instead. That’s why you wake up all nice in a bed with gifts and all that. Fourth sister has a history with wukong.

If you pick up the game again, I really recommend rock solid spell with thrust stance, bro you missed a lot fun of this game.

The horse guy is Ma Tienba, if you spend time reading the character potraits in your journal, it's vey VERY interesting. not simply just lore, but A LOT of small stories that paint the world in different way than you think. Like the Red Boy actually was caring about his half-sister but act like that to protect her. Like the family of Tiger Vanguard, like the kid and his father - the Tiger Acolyte and Mad Tiger...

Amazing game, but farming for those curios was complete ass

The reason the animation for the chest in the Mad Tiger's arena is different is because it contains the remains of the ghost boy. In fact, if you pan the camera to look into the chest you can actually see the boy's skeleton. As far as I know this is the only chest (which are actually coffins btw) that has anything in it. The portrait entries of the Mad Tiger and Tiger's acolyte explain what happened to the boy and the village. Also, cicadas symbolize rebirth, immortality and happiness which are major themes in the game. The Golden Cicada is also one of the former incarnations of Tang Sanzang, the monk that Sun Wukong had to guard on the journey to the west. Great video btw. I've been on a Wukong kick since I platinumed the game last week and just happened to get recommended your video. Definitely a fun watch. I agree chapter 6 was a bit of a let down but here's hoping the DLC will add more stuff to the game. :)

I’m glad you’re expressing this without any hesitation. I don’t understand why so many TH-camrs are afraid to say they want Black Myth to win GOTY. Even when some of them choose it, they feel the need to follow up with a lot of explanations. Are they afraid of Sweet Baby, DEI, or anyone else behind the scenes?

I sold one weapon by mistake :/ There is no way I'm playing the game again.. there is a limit.. I finished it twice because I enjoyed it.. but not again. Waiting for dlc anyway
