Whilst not as easy to engage with as a talk with illustrations this talk covered much valuable new ground for me. Luhmann seems to say many things I have felt for a long time but not heard clearly articulated. I find myself wondering whether I have become cynical with all the negative associations this has but Luhmann’s work has given me new inspiration because he simply describes the way the systems tend to work - a sort of ecology of organisation as organisms with all the evolutionary, self protecting, predatory, symbiotic characteristics found in the natural world.
