Day Break lift has quite a storied history behind it! It was installed in 1981 as the Wasatch Triple at Deer Valley for it’s inaugural season, then got replaced in 1996 by the current Wasatch Express, then relocated as Quincy in 1997 to provide direct access from Silver Lake to the true summit of Flagstaff Mtn. In 2001, it got replaced by the current Quincy Express and the old lift got refurbished and rebuilt as Day Break along with Dreamscape which also got relocated from being the Raptor Quad and Saddleback Quad.
The original plan was to have a detachable in an extended alignment up to the top of one of the ridges but American Skiing Company was running out of money and bought the used triple that ended right below the summit and only serving a handful of intermediate runs that not only service ultra-wealthy condos in The Colony, but are also good for secret powder turns. I hope this lift gets replaced and/or extended to the top very soon because I see it would have some really cool runs off top.
Also worth noting, Day Break ran faster than my recording last season.
