    After a long marriage I ended up depressed and had insomnia. That affected my cognition. I was desperate for sleep but lived with an abuser. I would have loved mania because I am an artist. So I was diagnosed bipolar without knowing; because I was quite Rolf it was surprising. No one ever told me but they handed me all these meds, most of which made me sick. I have had 6 psychiatrists since and not one has reviewed my records, or talked with me. Maybe you can be bipolar your whole life and not know because you’re always depressed? I had good reasons to be depressed and my new psychiatrist thinks I have PTSD. It’s pretty normal for me not to fit in a box.

    so there's overlap between agoraphobia and claustrophobia?

    • @laurasockol7487
      @laurasockol7487 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is not an official DSM diagnosis of "claustrophobia." Claustrophobia could be a Specific Phobia if the fear is something about the situation of being in an enclosed space (e.g., "I am afraid I will suffocate"). If the nature of the fear is that they are worried they will have a panic attack and not be able to escape, then Agoraphobia would likely be a more appropriate diagnosis.

    I had the weirdest mixed episode last time. Not that severe from the outside, but within I thought I'm going totally psycho. When my rational thinking stopped (because I didn't see any chance of committing something bad, and also I have interests & goals that I'm pursuing, so I couldn't go to jail) I thought "Oh my goodness, this is secondary psychopathy". And by the way, I'm autistic as well. Anyways, I felt depressed about that, thinking that on top of my neurological disorders I also have a personality disorder, since my mum was also not a good mum (not too bad, but bad), she beat me sometimes when I was a child for example and I beat her back. And in the past I had also been very well at masking my autism; I had literally mastered it. After a few days and some good meals I made the PCL-R test, don't know why I didn't do that from the very beginning. I made it twice and the second time I answered the questions more generously. First time I had a psychopathy rate of only 13.5 % and the second time I had 30 %. Lol. Still far away from the psychopathy threshold. All my worries of being able to let go of all worries were useless. Greetings from Berlin, Germany :)

    You can have psychotic features in bipolar 2 disorder. They don't occur during hypomania but can be present during a bipolar 2 major depressive episode.

  • @monte68x
    @monte68x 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I read that it's more common to have a mixture of mood-congruent and mood-incongruent psychotic features in psychotic mood disorders than mood-congruent psychotic features alone.

    If someone has a hypomanic episode without a major depressive episode the diagnosis is Other Specified Bipolar Related Disorder (hypomanic episode without major depressive episode)

    For me, the hypomania is mostly in my mind. It races at a 1000 mph, ricochets from one thing to another, gets obsessive. And easily distracted as I bounce from one thought to another.

    Is the disorder label a summary of a group of characteristics, regardless of how many also fall into other disorders? Or is the disorder a label for which characteristics were assigned -- and how do you expkain the duplication of characteristics into a multitude of disorder labels and then say that some people have co-morbidity (based on those co-morbid labels sharing the same characteristics)?

      I don't think they would care. They generally don't care what other people think about them so a diagnosis of this nature would mean nothing to them. They might lie just for the hell of it, but to avoid the diagnosis is unlikely to be their primary goal.

    Doing things quicker than you have time to process is scary as hell. And feeling like you are not in control while trying to enjoy anything at all is like you're riding shotgun to a stranger who apparently hijacked your body and decided to take a joyride. Always fearful of the inevitable crash.

    Hypomania sucks. It's like my emotions are off the rails and my filter is gone. Then after social interactions I get anxiety about potentially compromising myself. I am an extrovert so I already get restless when I am alone. The amount of energy I have is uncomfortable sometimes.

    I mostly get depressed infact most of my life I've been depressed to some extent but the really severe depression is accompanied by severe anxiety ( I will have both at same time if the anxiety reduces the depression increases and vice versa) I also have bouts of hypomania but these last for months not days like described in bipolar 2. I'm so confused as to what my condition is it just doesn't fit into any disorder definition, I have traits of many disorders.

    Hey, just came to add that many serotoninergic hallucinogens often gives you nausea / vomiting and it is a very common physiological effect, psylocibin, DMT, LSD, etc. in ritualistic aboriginal ceremonies involving natural psychedelics, the nausea are often referred as "purges" and are considered a way to "cleanse" you body so they are somehow an unexpected but welcomed effect
