    yup lovely layout gladitis preserved. knew Pulborough well. Hmm.....thinks...wonder if Midhurst trains stabled overnight at Pulborough ready for the next dayto return or everything went back to Horsham at night. Or maybe a pick up goods stabled overnight on the way to Midhurst .Chichester . Presumably London for Midhurst line passengers always had to change at Pulborough ...or perhaps fast to Horsham for local even picking up at Christ Hospital? Petersfield passengers would go via Guildford to access Guildford to Horsham line? Through trains from Horsham-Pulborough to Petersfield or change at Midhurst? Would be kinda the long way round...might suit some ...

      Interesting questions. It would need a detailed study of a working timetable to answer your queries. The only thing I can add is that I believe there were occasional slipped carriages at pulborough for onward travel on the Midhurst line. Never seen this on a model but would be possible with DCC?

    The wheelbase is the same, 7'9"+7'6"+6'3". However, the E5 chassis is 9" longer than the E4, 3" extra at the front ( 6'3" vs 6'0") and 6" longer at the back (5'0" vs 4'6"). Your suggestion may be possible but you'd need to compare the outlines. My two E4s are Steyning kits with scratchbuilt chassis, and the E5 is scratchbuilt. I hope that helps?

    There is no way this is a representation of Plumpton Green railway station. The station only has two lines, no sidings. The colours are totally incorrect. The only similarity between your model and the actual station is the signal box (before automated barriers were installed), the house beside the railway crossing and the number of platforms.

    • @barryluck1625
      @barryluck1625 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice to hear from somebody who knew the station! There are two things which help with good depth of field. One is to use good studio lighting, which I was able to do with the Plumpton videos, under controlled conditions. I have two softboxes, each with five 600w flourescents, giving a total of 6000w. The other technique is to take the video from a reasonable distance (say 6ft) with the focal length at mid-range (ie not telephoto) and use software to pan and zoom to get the close ups. I hope that helps.

      I use a 4k Sony camcorder which has no direct control over aperture so good lighting is the best solution. 4k video allows you to zoom in using editing software by a factor of 2 without any noticeable loss of picture quality.

    • @barryluck1625
      @barryluck1625 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are fiddle yards at either end of the layout representing the signal boxes either side of Plumpton. There are block instruments in each fiddle yard, (identical to those shown in the video) so there is two-way communication between the Plumpton signalman and the two fiddle yard operators. The block instruments are used in a more-or-less prototypical fashion to control trains arriving at or leaving Plumpton. I hope that answers your question?

      Pulborough was built by the Mid-Sussex 1883 group, a Scalefour area group. In 1997 we embarked on a new layout called 'Brighton Road'. Various members of the group moved away and we disbanded sometime around 2005. Brighton Road had a brief period on the exhibition circuit but was dismantled in 2014. In 2012 my son and I started a new layout 'Plumpton Green' which has been exhibited many times over the past ten years. (We own all the stock which ran on Pulborough). We are now building a smaller layout 'Ouse Wharf' which will be exhibited at the Bluebell in July, and Uckfield in October.
