When video games lose their edge and we lack the fun we felt while starting the games, there is a crucial question to ask ourselves regarding our attitude towards our relationship with gaming in general.

We often get overwhelmed with all the possible actions once we start a project. Be that a TH-cam Channel or Business or even cleaning up your room or getting into dating. I want to help with a question.

Great points. Got me thinking. This is why I started a gaming TH-cam channel to game with purpose. When I have time I record gameplay but I realized I can’t just play play play all the time, I also have to make time to go over footage, make edits and get creative refining the editing skill set which is like a whole new instrument on its own. Then schedule content and let it run and do its thing while I work on my health, wealth and relationships.

When we were young boomers promised us that if we work hard we get comfy life but that didnt happen. So most of us struggle in real life no matter how hard we try and stress is out of this world. Escaping to games is also impossible cause big companies ruined gaming ages ago and everything is so generic and no room for innovation. There is not many options to escape the "ratrace" anymore if you really think about it. Alao after 30 making new REAL friends is really really hard and those old friends are as busy as you are. There is not much light end of the tunnel anymore cause gaming is dead and so is real life. GL in life gamers

If you think about it, there are more options than ever. The internet created opportunities that our parents couldnt have imagined. There are ways to make friends as life progresses and there are ways to find a profession that suits you. Our problems do not lie in scarcity but abundance.

Identity politics, heavy micro transactions, games made by committee and all the creativity being sucked out of the room, for AAA this is why. Also hate speech policies are often why games aren't fun anymore.

I spent months getting to lv79 and then with one bar left tp gp, I gpt doscpnnected then Blizzard locked me out of my account, wouldn't respond to my tickets and kept taking money out of my bank account. That's why gaming sucks now.

Those that can improve their lives, shouldn't seek to escape from their lives, because that just lets the problems get worse while you're distracted. Some people aren't in a position to improve their lives, at least not yet, and those people might need escapism to avoid mental anguish. The priority should always be to fix problems, but if you try to force it at the wrong time, it just hurts people.

Very interesting take, thanks for your perspective. I personally found it hard accepting that one can not be that 12 year old kid gaming all night anymore. I also remember these amazing nights full of joy and sincere happiness. How are these nights not part of our lifes anymore? Sometimes makes me wonder if that would be all one needs, these nights

Its growing up man...appreciate the times that happened instead of trying to relive them until deep into adulthood. Truth is that life is about more than gaming and building a real life may be harder but it is also way more fulfilling.

So it's a zero-sum game of be normie wage slave or 'sperg in the basement to you, is it? That's sad. Ben is right, playing games to avoid responsibility is an unfulfilling pursuit that leads to a wasted life. Moderation in all things is the key. Game, work, party, exercise, eat, work on yourself, watch YT, play music, spend time in nature, but don't resign yourself to any one pattern of behavior and you will have a happy life. I used to play Everquest as my main hobby, it was a sad point in my life that I spent chasing opiate drugs and playing EQ, but when my uni grades started to slip I quit gaming for years to work on myself and graduate. Now that I have a fulfilling career, a wife, 3 kids, I can run a half marathon, I can tear up the fiddle and banjo, but most of all - I am happy. I still enjoy playing games in my free time, just not EQ. You? That comment makes it sound like you're avoiding taking responsibility into your own hands to make your life better, chasing dopamine hits on a video game to avoid improving yourself. I hope I'm wrong because that is a sad way to live, brother.
