Beautifully severe. Bach conducted by Münchinger. And your wonderful video, including images of architecture, sculpture of Christian imagery, and the art of Matthias Grünewald. Is it only from the Isenheim Altarpiece? This is one of the greatest artistic videos on TH-cam. The Art of Fugue is a late work of Bach, an incomplete work of genius. I play some of Bach's music, badly, but I immediately grasp that this surpasses any other music, beyond only a handful of other composers. Thank you for posting.

Unbelievable - this video was posted in 2022, yet nobody has commented, and it has had only two 'likes' before me. One of the greatest symphonic adagios, in its best performance, recorded live in Lübeck Cathedral. After the end of that Lübeck performance of Bruckner's Eighth Symphony, the audience were stunned into silence for a good half minute before they started applauding. I have had the pleasure of hearing Günter Wand in his last years, performing this symphony at the Edinburgh Festival. Time upon time, staring up from the depths, suffering and yearning, anger, hope, triumph, tenderness, acceptance. It is all here. Thank you for posting this.

No matter if Karajan's Bach doesn't sound Baroque because it sounds better than ever sounded Baroque. Sorry for my bad english. My point is... Karajan knew perfectly what he did and he did it better than anybody else.

I understand this is a Magnificat, a majestic liturgic piece that Bach himself would have probably loved to be playing with an orchestra the size of the Berliner Philamoniker and a huge choir. But for crying out loud - playing with four oboes when accompanying an Aria ???
