How One Man Changed Music Forever...TWICE┃Blur and Gorillaz
มุมมอง 606K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video essay is about how Damon Albarn managed to form both Blur and Gorillaz and managed to define the music of 2 generations and how he went from Britpop to Grunge to Electronic to Hip Hop and much more. Here's how one man became an icon of both the 90s and the 2000s. HUGE SHOUTOUT TO THE FAN MADE MUSIC VIDEOS I HAD TO USE BECAUSE WHEN I TRIED TO USE THE ACTUAL GORILLAZ MUSIC VIDEOS THE V...
Thanks for the video, now I like him even more!
Great video, but I personnally find the subtitles a bit too stressful
"It's important to separate the art from the artist" YES!
vaporwave
Daman isn't wrong; cant beat a good set of tits
Dude is a genius honestly
Why the subtitles man? It just spoils the video
He's done a LOT of collaborations and his last solo album also rocked.
I think Cracker Island is Gorillaz's best album since Plastic Beach. Ballad of Darren is amazing, too.
While I will admit the first two Oasis albums were great, they dropped off badly after that and comparing them to the Beatles is a joke, I thought that back in the 90's when tabloids started doing so and I think it now
12:55 why you gotta do the blur game like that 😭
Great documentary, awesome video!
I'd love to see a video on myslovitz, since they got to influence britpop and all as a polish band, they still do concerts in uk
They could have become the "b sides" of the Beatles, carrying the spirit forward, but at some point they lost themselves in fame and drugs and the hype flame was extinguished too quickly
only other person to do this is dave grohl with nirvana and foo fighters even then foo fighters debatably didnt change the whole music scene
snooooore ...not fussed (except slight triggering by the title)
8:19 that’s literally my friend from school!!! Omg 😂
really? lmao
@@Krysiss yeh they sent me a message as they were shocked (they are an insane Radiohead fan)
He and Blur and Gorillaz are the best. Love from USA
...sorry had to go listen to Blur She's so High real quick, I'm back now.
Brilliant video. Excellent analysis. Ive been listening to The Smiths since I was a kid, but Morrissey seems like he wafts in and loves the smell of his own farts while questioning why he is so clever.
You should definitely cover The Libertines - really interesting and crazy past along with some great music. Great video btw!
I love The Libertines, the new album is great
Dr. Alban? No. Daemon Alban.
How we navigate life. Roll with some changes, make some of your own. Learn from others mistakes and even more from your own. Bottom line, change is always happening. Its part of growth. Yet our willingness to learn and grow as well as the choices we make can have a huge impact on how we may thrive or even live...
As a musician and I have been around a lot of musicians my whole life. I can say yes! There are a lot of Musicians who are not the greatest people, some are narcissistic, racist, arrogant and self centred and people eventually get to know what their character is like. All I have to say is yes Morrissey has said and has some hateful horrible things. But what I do is just seperate the music from the musician. I still listen to The Smiths as it had created a time capsule of nostalgia and mood from that time in my life and many others. Thanks for sharing this video. Also PS. I have to say The Cure is one of my favourite UK 80's bands of all time.
the only bad thing i can say about gorillaz is that the humanz album cover is incredibly unsettling
the first thme listening to Empire Ants with a MDR-V6 is something I dont think ill recreate again. so good
The Beatles of the 90s? I would rather call them the british Pimpinela. If you know, you know
Personally, I’m actually glad Oasis ended and I can’t really care less if it comes back or not. I personally really vibe with High Flying Birds (Chasing Yesterday is genuinely one of my favourite albums ever made). I feel like Noel as a songwriter really branched out more after Oasis ended and it really shows (to my ears at least ).
just one advice bruv. i mean like. great vid bruv. u took me back man. fuckin all the way. im in malaysia, a port town. heh. to me , gorillaz is not fake. there is a consciousness here at work on a diff level ! hence i guess fake is the translation-version of creation these days . heh ( no hard feelings yeah) . creation. ermnn..it has a life. a oneness with sound and me and you and the rest of us who felt it and the universe that encapsulates the energy of the spiritualized world we live in - from their sound ! shivashakti. embodiment of both parts. heh. like damon. there is supreme spirits at work beyond words. hence it is truly important not to call it fake. i love you.
shivashakti!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! damon ur a diff level being
Im not the type to say if this is really a way of claiming or just cope esque words on trying to say this stands out or not in some shape form or manner but this album is the definition of the embodiment/epitome of a real human being with flaws and faults to some perfect quintessential extent yet to convey a projecting imperfectly raw unwillingly thought out conceptual album for the majority of people who think this is/isn't the pinnacle of their musical career plus the way you or in general look at it but for me this album is the real but profound deal of radiohead's brilliance on how they execute certain ways on creating their talented craft indirectly immaculate in my opinion as if god spoke to them to make this type of thing for their own fame scrutiny's sake i guess.
The who please 🎉
Oasis#1
I remember that time when the Beatles released only one good album during their entire career, and that album turned out to have only two songs with any legs whatsoever. Yeah. You're right. Oasis=The Beatles.
Difference is between the beatles and oasis is the beatles were all talented oasis wasn't
Mali music, Monkey the opera, the good the bad and the queen. Other stuff he did.
Not the Mexicans though, they fucking love him. And someone who is clearly not white hates someone who is and says "at the end of the day everyone prefers their own kind"
8:18 is my girlfriend lol
The Smiths the greatest band of all time!? Man, that is a ridiculous take.
An absolutely amazing video man. super underrated
If I remeber correctly it was "Some Might Say" that was released on 24th of April 1995, and "Roll With It" with "Country House" on 18th of August 1995?
Song 2 became well known outside the UK due to a playstation soccer game
i listened to the first 2 Gorillaz albums a lot back in the 2000's. Even got to see them on Halloween during the Plastic Beach tour, really cool show. Sadly, Plastic Beach didn't really work for me and was my stepping off point of Gorillaz. neat video.
I loved that Gorillaz was just these cartoon characters. When they showed there faces with the Plastic Beach album i say that ruined Gorillaz a lot för me personally. Great video 👍

Chili peppers and cage the elephant Vids please
I heard about gorillaz before but never bothered to look them up ... however got what was possibly the greatest introductions to them when FEEL GOOD INC played on the station of my motorcycle while I was doing a mission in GTA V 😆
Amazing Vid. you should make a video about Depeche Mode, another legendary british band.
i love them, i will probably talk about them in the future too
Nah he's not gay northerners are like that
yea makes sense
