Fluke (Flounder) New York Harbor | Gypsea Charters |
Fluke fishing on Gypsea Charters Brooklyn NY. We originally planned on heading out to the ocean to fish the reefs, however once we saw the weather outside the inlet we had to make a change. Captain Josh found some fish inside the harbor and put us on the meat. Successful day with plenty of action an pick of keepers mixed in.

Quick morning trip out of Captree State Park, Long Island NY. Not the trip I was hoping for but it rarely ever is. Managed to hook a few fish but nothing to show at the end of the day. Non the less, still a great day on the Captain Gillen.

Captree State Park, Long Island NY. Fishing the Fire Island Reef on the Captree Pride. Weird bite, the fish just seemed to lay on the jigs resulting in a lot of snags. Day started of slow, had a pretty decent swell and strong current causing us to drift of 1 mph. once captain made the decision to anchor up the day only progressed from there. lots of action and managed to put 3 in the box.
Fluke ( Summer flounder ) May - September / June - September. ( Mid - late May to early , mid - late September ) & winter flounder ( April & May )
Lmao everyone on that boat got screwed. Not to mention that they paid a lot more on that boat than a bigger party boat.
Cow nose rays all over lately. Have seen them in the bay off of Bayport. Have hooked quite a few over the years, just hang on!
I love that boat. Try to make it at least once a year from ohio.

You never tighten your drag while reeling in a fish. You do it before or after. That's bad advice.
get rid of the bait and you will pretty much eliminate the dogfish..let the other people cath them..just plain gulp if u want to catch fluke..

Incredible I never saw a head boat anchor up on that reef for fluke... Shows how long it's been and how much techniques have changed on the party boats.... Years ago we would have been in the bay right now

What fishing rod are you using?
infamoustackle.com/products/same-light-power-game-jigging-rod Here is the link to the rod, I use the MH version paired with a shimano vanford 3000. I find it perfect to fish anything inshore 3/4 to 3 ounces although I can get away with 4. Don’t let it fool you this rod has a ton of power and can easily be used for gator blues or giant bass.
