Hi! I’m Sarah. I’m so glad you’re here! Make yourself cozy, because I hope to be chatting a lot with you in my online "home."
I'm wife to a Brazilian soccer coach and mama to two precious, bilingual boys. We live internationally and speak multiple languages in our home. If you ask my family where we are from, you might hear a little hesitant pause as we debate how to condense a lifetime of story down into a two-second answer. (Do we say the USA? That would only be about a third true. Brazil? Same deal. Thailand? Asia? Do we share that our families include in-laws from Europe and South America?)
We are on a journey to nurture our family at home and abroad--wherever we live.

Im new to homeschooling and cant seem to decide between this and all about reading? Any insight? Love your video!
Hi! Welcome to homeschooling! I have not tried All About Reading, but I have heard wonderful things. We enjoyed using Logic of English with my firstborn but quickly realized that it wasn't a good fit for my second child. The program is fun. It does delve into a lot of extra material (speech/linguistic matters as well as phonics). For someone just beginning to homeschool, I would recommend going with an easier-to-implement program like All About Reading or even the free kindergarten phonics program from The Good and the Beautiful. (We are using the latter program right now and loving it!)

That is a lot of material to print. My husband would not be happy about that.
It is a lot to print. I think it would be totally doable without printing, though, if you are really wanting to use the program. The daily lesson plans are short, so you could do all the prep while looking at the PDF on a laptop or iPad.
Can we get an LOE update on how it’s going? I’m looking to purchase level A but I’m also curious how it’s going

Since you're looking into purchasing the program, I'll summarize here: We loved using the program with my eldest son but quickly realized that it wasn't a good fit for my second son. We also needed to do more reading practice than the program provided. So we switched to the free kindergarten language arts program from the Good and The Beautiful. We are on Lesson 39 (finishing the first unit) and love it so far! Since that program is available as a free PDF, I'd recommend taking a look at it.

Hi! We have never used either of those curricula, though I have looked through My Father's World. Are there specific products that you like and recommend from them? I'd love to hear! This plan is just my family's recommendations based on our experience, since several people were asking for a complete overview of what we do.
Hi, I am an Australian living in Italy with my Italian husband and two kids. We will be embarking on our homeschooling journey next year with my eldest turning 5 in a few months. My biggest question is, even when using an online/digital curriculum, how does one source all the reading materials? I know for example Blossom and Root is available digitally but is based heavily on personally source the books to read. I worry I won't be able to find the books here in english and it would be extremely expensive to have to purchase all of the literature required. Thanks
Hi! So excited for you to begin homeschooling! We live in Asia and--similar to you--have a difficult time finding many books. One way that we make literature-based curriculum work is that we listen to the books read aloud on TH-cam. There are so many videos of books now, thanks to COVID. I always prefer to have the physical copies of books, but sometimes we simply can't get them. All the best!

Hi, just came across your channel yesterday! I'm Brazilian and my husband is American, and I do try to speak in Portuguese most of the time with our 2 kids (4 and 2 years old). I find that Brazil unfortunately falls very behind on books and good quality music for children, so I do allow them to have screen time to practice more the Portuguese and I was thrilled to find Daniel Tiger in Portuguese here on TH-cam. Hi! So nice to meet you! I agree with you: It is so sad that Brazil seems behind in so many book and music resources. We have found a few TH-cam music channels helpful: Galinha Pintadinha (lots of nursery rhymes), Palvra Cantada, and Tres Palavrinhas (Christian children's songs). In the USA, there is a growing number of books available in Portuguese on Amazon.com. Thanks for the video! I live in Argentina and my husband is from here. Our kids have dual citizenship. We are considering homeschooling next year but need to figure out all the details because as far as i know, it is not technically legal here in our province. I wonder if the embassy could provide some helpful information.
Hi! Reaching out to the embassy is a great idea. In my experience, children with dual citizenship usually have a little more flexibility with homeschooling laws. But it's always a good idea to check. :)

How to remove the lint and small dust particles still sticking to it after washing
Hi! We struggled with dust and lint, too. A lint roller can be helpful, or even using a large piece of tape to pull the lint off. It does take time. :)

In regards to any phonics in Playing Preschool, do you find it causes confusion or could potentially if are you introducing phonograms and plan to teach reading/spelling with phonograms?
Hi! We didn't find the phonics instruction confusing. It was more of a review for my oldest son than an introduction. Playing Preschool does emphasize the sounds, and you can always adjust the letter-finding activities to be about the phonogram (the sound) rather than the "name" of the letter. Hope that helps!

Hello Sara. Congratulations on your content, it has been very valuable to me. I'm Brazilian and I live in Brazil, I'm the father of Helena (3 years old) and Miguel (3 months) and I'm studying to start homeschool with Helena. I've watched more than 100 videos and the vast majority talk about HS in families with 3, 4, 5 or more children. Of course, with a 3-year-old child who sees his other siblings already sitting at the table doing HS, it becomes easier. I haven't seen anyone talking about early pre-k (no older siblings). At the moment, I'm trying to choose a curriculum to start with and digital options seem like the best option, since I can't get books from some brands that only sell print. I'm having a little trouble with this part. There are no words for the quality of your content. May God bless your family.

have you made the any more of these? I love this and I teach Special Ed students - Elementary aged - and I have a group of students that are ELL - with SLD/ communication combinations so hand cues to remember grapheme-phoneme correspondence as we introduce more patterns have been so beneficial. I am looking for something to help students remember the two sounds y can make at the end of a word. (We have this motion for vowel sounds for them to remember the two sounds the letter "a" can make - hand close to chest (closed syllable) /ǎ/ - hand straight out (open syllable) /ā/) - and when the y vowel card appears during the visual drill students start to move their hands 🤓
