This was an easy one. The wires must've got crossed somehow then someone gave up. 1 side of each ballast goes to the cord. Then the other side of the cord connects to the starter switch. I think that's what everything is called. or maybe I just got lucky with the flip of a quarter. either way..... She's work'n again.

I found another antique motor. I Love these ones. I think the reason why I couldn't turn Her on was because of the cord. There were so many bare wires. I'm glad the cord didn't burn up the motor completely. I got lucky on this one. She's super quiet.

Great design but a pain to get back on. it took Me about an hour so that's why a sped it up for Y'all. I'll do a full restoration on Her some day. I'm happy now because I have an old vacuum to use. Works pretty darn good too.

I must have lived a very sheltered childhood, never seen a drill/saw like that!! The Black& White, well that made the video IMHO. The meat grinder addition is so cool ! Can’t wait to see which way you go with it ! Amazing 👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
WHAT KIND OF SAW IS HE USING LOOKS LIKE FIRST TYPE OF A SKILL SAW,,
All I can find online is that it’s called a drill powered circular saw. I would love to find more information about it. I can’t believe how straight & true She cut. I think I’m going to make a video just on the saw. She could use a little freshening up anyway.
Nice clean up and service od a beautiful old ratchet.
Yup. That was a fun little cleanup. Thanks Ivan. It was cool doing it at night when the chickens were sleeping, dog put away & no city noise. It was just Me, The Ratchet & My Camera. It was actually peaceful. I might have to try that again.
Sweet !! It came out FANtastic !! Again, nice camera work too ! Thanks my friend 👍🇺🇸🫡 Top

Thank You Sir. These are fun little ratchets to play with. I love how the old stuff polishes up so well with little effort. The disassembly/assembly is so basic yet so intricate. Now it’s time to find something else to mess around with.
spider loves that super lube
Oh Yeah !!!!!!! That’s some good stuff there. I like it because it’s food friendly for my mixers & Blendors. I haven’t ate any yet but I might try it someday. Thanks Steve
Great job. Nice looking lamp. Love that Simoniz car wax.
Best wax ever made. I wish they would bring back this formula. It works so well. I have to be very conservative with it though. Once this can is gone, it’s gone forever.
Very nice!
Thanks. It’s amazing what some old car wax & lots of elbow grease can do. She came out clean & smooth as glass with that stuff. Now She has Rock-Hard Protection for years to come.
Ha!! I was correct 🥸 It came out really nice ! Amazed you can find bulbs for it. Great job 👍👏🇺🇸
You’re always right Sir. Hahaha. I have an old Ace Hardware Store near me. They always have everything I need. I thought those bibs were discontinued years ago. Maybe they’re new old stock just sitting in the back room of that old Ace.
That's a beautiful lamp Spider! That old Simoniz wax really brought out the paint. I need to find me a can of that. Nicely done
Thanks Ivan. Yeah, I was amazed at how She came out. There was some nasty brown paint on top of the lamp shade part. (You can see it at the 30 second part of the video) That old wax took it right off. I was expecting bare metal underneath but the original paint was still there. Someone must’ve spilled that brown paint on it somehow.
It looks great. I like to use a similar lamp on my workbench
@@ivanstiles7030 Yeah, I think this old lamp will be perfect on my work bench for making gaskets and stuff like that.
Another great video. I was shocked on how nice the finish was on the base. Don't know much about these, is it just paint or some sort of porcelain enamel? Congrats on the subs!
Me too…. It’s not paint that for sure. It feels like porcelain. Like on my ‘46 Wedgewood Stove. There’s some chipped spots and it’s thick. If it were paint, it would be 30 coats. Everything wiped off with little effort. They sure did make things to last back in the good Ol Days….. thanks for your support. It’s all uphill from here.
Fixing old stuff with old tools is cool. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks Brian. I think it’s the right thing to do. Everything seems to fit perfectly. I’ll keep on keep’n on if Y’all will keep watch’n 😎

I guess if you love what you do, things just fall into place. This old machine was in beautiful shape. That black porcelain/enamel paint (or whatever it is) is some tough stuff. There's some chips and cracks here & there but for the most part, it's in pristine condition. I was amazed what was under the filth. It all came off with ease too.

Neat old motor. Quick tip, when you wire a plug or similar, use a UL (some times called lamp knot) as a strain relief so the wire doesn't pull out. If you ever some a cross a really old crusty motor, there are motor repair shops that will clean and flush the windings for a reasonable price. Some will even redip them in shellac or lacquer the windings for added protection and help prevent winding hum.
I tried to make a knot on this one but the hole is to small. When that happens, I just put a small zip tie on the cord where it can’t be seen on the plug. I put on knot on that grain mill motor I did a few days ago. There was so much room on that one. I do have to learn how to coat the windings. I’ve had some really crusty ones that could’ve used some new varnish. I’ve been looking at this stuff called Sterling 77X 010. Looks like some good stuff. Thanks for the advice Brad. I can use any info on everything. I want to learn everything I can.
Success! I’m pretty sure I have that same GE motor under one of my benches, somewhere.
Such a cool little motor. I wonder what She was used for. That makeshift on/off switch is in a strange spot. I can’t imagine if there was a pulley on it and you’d have to reach over the belt to turn it on. I’ll be thinking about what She was used for all weekend. Hahaha.
Again, awesome ! You missed your calling with those hands, should’a been a Surgeon!! Amazing to see that motor brought back! Smooth sliding in the “vintage’ tools as the process is ongoing 👍👏🇺🇸🫡
Thank You Sir. These older ones are so simple. I learned something about the new wires I installed. They twisted back together like it was meant to be spliced that way. She is a smooth running like motor that’s for sure. She only has 1/6 hp So I might just slap on an old fan blade then use Her up in the rafters to move air around. I know She would love to go back to work. I ran Her for a few hours last night and She didn’t even get warm. What a beautiful motor. Made in the 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love how things back then were made to last. You dont see this now a days. Love your videos!
Yup. It seems like everything was made to be worked on & fixed. That whole motor cleaned up so well. There was so much nasty stuff in the bag and on that brush. That hair must’ve been from some lady a 100 years ago. Haha. I love this old stuff.

I thinks that’s why they canceled that show. He got scared of me. Hahaha. Thanks Ruben. I had so much fun restoring this one. Everything went so smoothly. I’m still amazed about that rusty, filthy dirty motor. I really thought it was going to end up in the trash. I’m glad I didn’t give up. Thank Your Dad again for finding that beautiful machine.
Very nice preservation. The motor on that old vacuum is beautiful. It looks like it works great.
Yeah… Those Antique Robbins & Myers Motors are Beautiful indeed. From some research, the R&M motors were last used on the Hoover model 102. My 105 shouldn’t have this motor on it. I wonder if Hoover just used up all their R&M motors on the early 105s. Hopefully there’s some knowledgeable Hoover fans watching this video so they can tell me what gives… Thanks Ivan. Time to find something else to bring back into working order.
Very Nice ! I really liked the hand cleaner trick and the plier downsizing……using the proper tool for the job. Just think, if you had new brushed for that head bar and a bumper strip for around the power head, that bad boy would be better then new!! Great job, Again! The video technique and camera work…….FANtastic 👍👏🇺🇸🫡 Rick
Thank You First Sergeant. I got bored after work yesterday so I just did this little project to see if I could get Her to work again. I was surprised to see how well everything spun freely. There was so much oil in there. That’s what probably saved Her. I’m trying to figure out how to install some bristles in the roller brush thing. Now you got me think’n about the bumper strip. Let’s see what I can come up with. I want to shine everything up too. Oh and the wood handle…. She’s pretty now, just wait til I get done with Her. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thanks Ivan. I’m surprised how well it came out. I guess with a little work and patience, anything can be restored to look good again. I just love the ingenuity someone had to put this all together. I might have to slap on a period correct motor if this one doesn’t look right. We’ll see. I have so many thoughts running through my mind right now. Hopefully everything works out as planned.
@@spiderlovesbeerohyeah4760 my dad modified an old hand crank meat grinder with an electric motor. I have it now and i still use it when i process deer meat.
@@ivanstiles7030 That’s cool. Is it set up like mine with 2 pulleys?? I’m trying to figure out why there’s 2. Maybe to slow down the rotation from the motor?? It looks cool but I just want to know the reason. Venison burgers sound good right now.
@@spiderlovesbeerohyeah4760 my dads grinder only has one pulley. It spins pretty fast but works great

I don’t know how. I’ll try to find out how I can put that option in the comments. Thanks for watching.
Looks very nice -- well done.
Thanks. It’s was a cool trying something new. I think I kind of know what to do now for the next one. I’ll keep on keeping on until I get better. I love not being a professional because there are no rules for me. I just do my best with the limited knowledge I have.
Nice job Spider. Ready for another 100 years.
Thanks Ivan. Yup, She’s ready to live on. She’s not perfect but She’s in way better shape for the next guy that gets Her.
She's perfect to me. I like that you didn't take it over the top and left some of the earned bumps and bruises.
@@ivanstiles7030 Yeah You’re Right. An old shotgun wouldn’t look right brand new. These battle scars tell a story. Thanks for that comment. I feel like I did the right thing now. Well, good for me because that was the best I could do anyway. I’m still learning….
This came out very nice. Hopefully that stock repair holds.
I think it came out FANtastic !! Slick use of the zip ties and altered punch 👍 Beautiful Job 👏🇺🇸🫡
I was learned back in the old days, if you can’t find a solution, make one. I can’t believe my tiny brain came up with the zip ties. I knew the spring had to come up somehow the be pressed into that slot. So I just stood there think’n. The seed of thought can only grow. I was happier than a 1 armed pepper picker when it worked. Thank You First Sergeant. Your kind comments keep me moving along. I just found a 1930’s meat grinder that’s been modified with an old electric motor & pulleys. I’m going to check it out after work today. I think I can fix it.
