Joburger here: The Joburg one seems bigger, although at 2023 Kidscon was absent. That said, Nasrec in JHB is not nearly as nice a venue as the CPT one. It has terrible ventilation/heat issues and the facility seems a bit run down. The Gallagher Estate (which is now rAge's home since The Dome closed) one in 2019 was amazing (especially WILLIAM SHATNER!!). I guess it is a pricing issue. What was cool was the 2022 one did show a great use of the space Nasrec gives with even a roller derby next to the Kidscon. The main concerns were the food queues in the hot sun, which seems to have been alleviated a little in 2023. All in all, JHB is bigger, but CPT looks nicer due to venue.

the attendees looked great , the venue not so much . Either organizers didnt have the budget and couldnt get the the right variety and scale of sponsors or somebody who doesnt understand what the convention is about and just saw it as an opportunity to make money off a venue and venders so took over organizing the setup. At bare minimum the walls should have been covered in curtains/fabric of different colors to separate the spaces and make it brighter then that bland white , or projecters or there should have been large posters stuck up, with different themes , like heroes , anime , game worlds and characters , tabletop etc ... Really couldnt of been that hard to source that sort of thing since CPT is known for a colorful milay culture . The venue should be its own character
