Defending & Countering the Teep Push Kick in Muay Thai - by ONE FC Legend Dejdamrong aka “Kru Rong”
Dejdamrong, aka Kru Rong is a Muay Thai legend (3x Lumpini champ) and an MMA pioneer (Thailand’s first MMA champ). He fought successfully into his 40s for ONE Championship and inspired millions around the world, myself being no exception. Traditional Muay Thai is incredible, but in an MMA setting it has a weakness in the form of wrestling takedowns. Kru Rong adapted his style to use punishing knees and elbows against any type of opponent, even wrestlers.
Recently, Dejdamrong opened a gym in Phuket, Thailand and now teaches future generations how to compete at the highest level. I was lucky enough to come into contact with Kru Rong, and even luckier considering I got to train with him and his students at Sor Dejdamrong Gym. Check out the lessons I learned, and visit his gym next time you’re in Phuket!

It’s good on one hand, because it shows you new methods that often become new favorites…but at the same time it gets old lol. Despite what some may tell you, there are rarely “incorrect/correct” techniques…it’s all circumstantial. Try and look for the universal concepts (i.e. remain defensively sound, maintain balance, throw the mind elsewhere, etc.)

This is pretty good, bro. Please show technique execution from both sides or even just show it versus left hand grab next time. I am right handed but get more out of watching execution on weak side. I am a small circle jiu jitsu guy with black belt certification from Alameda Honbu. Your transitional flow is good. I also think your thinking on constant movement despite obstacles is the way Wally thought about this stuff ("keep going no matter what" and "make it work" and "you will fail at least 50% of your techniques initially, so you better have a plan B, C, D, E or G"). This type of thinking makes the practice session LIVE and realistic. This is the essence of transitional flow. It also takes something esoteric like DZR/traditional martial arts and makes it competitive and relevant in the face of this generation's interest in so-called combat sports (lol). Subbed.

@@skyhookschool I found your channel because of your video about Muay Thai hook vs boxing hook (th-cam.com/video/asHDMoE_0pA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3MlF7xOE3-qs_zTa) And that was the best explanation on the internet I found so far. After that I went to your Muay Boran playlist and was surprised to see you have great elbow basics that I was missing. I will be watching more of your videos (like judo + MT) cos amount of great material is phenomenal. Very liked series with Sagat. It was great idea to structure videos like that (practice with coach then slow explanation of details in good english). Simply need time to absorb and practice the lessons. But surely, you got a passionate subscriber :) I’d love to see more about angles/line/positioning/strategy. E.g you have a great video about Muay Thai southpaw strategy. Most of the videos I see on these topics are from boxing coaches. Meanwhile, adding legs into the mix changes things rapidly. Feel like there is a niche. In terms of growing your channel: even you have some of the best basics, it is hard to compete on TH-cam with basic lessons. I might recommend doing more mixed styles/style comparison videos (that is how I stumbled upon your channel). And more advanced/rare topics. E.g. headkicks is another lesson you covered well that I did not find on other channels. Maybe more advanced Muay Boran stuff? Like kicks and knees from floor/more unusual positions is something I am quite curious about and do not see much material in good English. Meanwhile, striking when on floor is something needed for MMA/self defense.
