EverQuest II Original Pre-Game Lore Narration

This was the narration that was played when you started a new character. This probably hasn't been seen or used in game since 2005 or early 2006. This video was made on an EQ2Emulator server. One of our goals is to preserve this gaming history and the best years of EQ2 in the form of a classic server using the original clients from the game (2005-2006 is the sweet spot). eq2emu.com/ eq2emulator...

@@richardsmall5265 Yup, they removed that starting area years ago, in favor of the newer ones.
@@richardsmall5265 They removed Isle of Refuge with Kingdom of Sky and put in Queen's Colony and Outpost of the Overlord. Then with the city revamps they got rid of those as well, until Stormhold TLE opened. That being said, we've recreated the original Isle of Refuge as best we can on the emulator.
What I think is total funny is The Channeler and possible the Beastlords Don't have pets and the Necromancer & Conjuror do. lol yes we know your weak without your pet but good luck.
Still love this game, and miss this opening.

Cool. I would like to see much more. Does the emulator use the old attribute system where all stats affect all classes? Does it use the old crafting system where you have to make all of the different parts of an item before you could actually put it all together?
They should readd this into the game, helps newbies get into the lore.
It was in the Game but they removed it when they first removed the isle Quest route and never look back at it when they put the isle back.

Wow that took me back! Thank you for the upload. Still play to this day, the glory days are behind us but you can still get a taste of that feeling.
Hey there, I still play too and I'm actually starting to collect EQ 1 and 2 collectors items :) both games are a bit older by todays standards - old but far from obsolet. Both titles have been expanding their worlds year by year and there is n o t h i n g that comes close to the nostalgic, magical feeling the EQ franchise is able to produce. Love both games!
Any chance you have the little scenes that played when you made a character in GFay, or Gorowyn?

Wow, I haven't heard that zoning theme in what seems like forever! Anyhow, how's the player activity on the eq2emu servers? I'd love to relive the old school era of Eq2, much like how I got to experience the real Eq1 with p99! Either way, thanks for sharing :D

It's sad how much the current game has been downgraded in terms of graphics, baked in lightmaps etc. Really good to see the old version of extreme quality running smooth.
This looks exactly like current live version, except they have hidden the old CPU based shadows which are very poor performance (but look great at times). You just type /r_shadow_type 1 in chat to enable the CPU shadows. Honestly don't see any difference at all with the live game. Besides the old style UI (what is the point? Unless it is needed to run old mechanics?). And the tutorial sounds boring as hell. Love Island of Refuge, but happy not to have to sit through that voice actor telling me what XP and quests are (yawn, does anyone today really need these instructions?). Not sure what you mean about baked in lightmaps. The game uses old shaders anyway. They did over time remove things like the ice wall, and the chains / root spell effects that were very taxing on performance as well..
@@fabd-tv sorry meant the current live content such as the city of Seru etc. The old lighting and shadows were dynamic, kinda a fake raytracing.

Dude you can skip the tutorial, this is showing off the emulator tech and recreation of content not even live can reproduce anymore.. why so grim?
i doubt they could recreate it as it was I'm sure too much has been lost.

This will eventually make its way to the eq2emu.com play test and also be available on individual copies people run on their own systems.. the time frame is probably weeks.. we have constant updates being pushed out both code/content wise.
@@imageemagi can you guys open a server us players can play on for free? I miss Eq2!
@@HeyRickey Having a fully functional server is a way off right now. We do have a play test server to check things out (instructions under how to.. at eq2emu.com). However, yes the goal is for public EQ2 servers you can play for free and the server owners will be able to select the expansions/eras they want included in their server.
Btw it's been added a few months ago. So you can check it out now if you haven't already.
