Rubbernecking headed south on Rt 81, south of Roanoke. Oct 6 4pm . Cab on first 18 wheeler was collapsed, or burned out - not visible. Second truck was just the metal shell with fire still smoking.

Inspecting and combining hives, newspaper method. New queen found and marked. Video has explanations for beginner level. Apiary in Sparta, NC. Elevation 2900ft, 60F, sunny and breezy. No major nectar flow yet.

This is very cool. What breeds of turkeys are those and do you ever worry about tree climbing predators such as raccoons? I have been trying to find a perfect tree for my royal palms to roost in since the dogwood they used to sleep in when they were younger and lighter is way to small now.
Eastern Wild turkeys. I lost some that roosted very high to owls when they were smaller. I don't know if the raccoons climbed that high - they were about 40ft high. I believe coyotes were more of a problem locally. I gave up trying to populate this area with EWT as the eggs were very pricey and the birds very stupid. I did see this summer a flock of about 20 about 1/2 mile from this site. Still have a few guineas.

There's been a lot of uncertainty about her ins and outs. Last I heard it was to have a child (true) and moving farther away from NO. Maybe now that her child is older, she has more free time to make the trip? Just conjecture on my part.

This wonderful version of Goin' Back Home uses a little trick, and uses it twice. For much of the song, the front line stays quiet while the rhythm section carries the tune, with Erika and Greg tossing the vocals back and forth. Then Shaye swirls her cornet to ask everyone to join in at about 1:03. The same thing happens after Craig's spiky solo and another exchange between vocalists. Shaye swings her instrument at 3:08 and we get the thrill of everyone joining to drive the thing home.

All I can say is WOW!!! Best rendition of “Goin’ Back Home” yet! One of TS’s all time greats. Memphis Minnie would be proud. Thanks Tuba Skinny.
