Old man playing Starcraft Brood War
S rank maphacker pulls UNO reverse card
Opponent never sent a scout probe out.
However he did send a probe to his ramp right as mine arrived. Then he opted for 3 zealots with a pylon at ramp for battery (not needed), hardest counter to a 2 gate.
Followed that with a dt rush which I scouted and so he opted not to make any dts because he knew I had a robo (and also I guess he never actually checked which spawn I was at).
Followed that with expansion with no goon range no dts just ht and cannons.
Picked off some scout probes he couldn't possibly have seen and opted not to build any scouting pylons etc. because he had full vision.
His play was so weird that I was able to call it as hack pretty early and then optimize against an opponent with perfect vision. I cancelled the 3rd zealot because he can't see unit production (and so would still try to counter a 2 gate) and it was clear I would get no value from it, instead going for faster tech. Opted for a pure macro mechanics game because I couldn't surprise him with harass or strategy. Fortunately he just wasn't very good, his MMR was very inflated by his hacking.

I don't trivially make accusations of maphack but in this case it is pretty undeniable. Game 1 he sends one of his first 4 probes to make horror gates on a 4 player map, doesn't scout once for the rest of the game, and tries to attack a shuttle he hasn't seen. Game 2 he doesn't scout, opens blind cannons at natural vs 2 gate. Pretty damning stuff. Unfortunately maphack wasn't enough to save him.

An example of identifying the opponent's win condition and loss conditions. In this game the Protoss hit a 200/200 power spike at 12 minutes but would see a rapid decline in his ability to win a fight as Terran upgrades improved and Terran army supply caught up. By identifying the Protoss's win condition we could adapt to deny the fight he needed.

Thanks for this kwark! I've been playing vs comps 1v7 ect. just so I can still enjoy the game cause I had 5 wins in F rank in 100+ games (with terran though). Switched to protoss and have been following 2 gate and really enjoying learning the game again!!!! There isn't any chance you have these games as replays do you?

Really great analysis! I’ve been playing this game for many years now but still can’t get past C/B Rank! I finally understand that it’s because of not thinking it through like you do there: ‚what is my winning condition here?‘ ‚if I do X what is he going to do?‘, or ‚what is his plan on how he wants to win this game and how would I stop that? Etc. I’m so surprised to see you having a low APM but BiG Brain guess that’s why you are S Rank! hey, first off, great content! i gota ask though...at around 4:58:00 u won a huge fight bc the enemy forgot to upgrade storm... why did u pull back after killing most of his army w no lose??
There was no real upside to attacking the nat. He was far ahead because he’d built up a huge energy bank on his ht and would be able to dominate the middle of the map. I took a bad fight because he was going to force the matter but I was taking it to lose the game and go next. If I didn’t take it in the middle I’d have to clump units in my nat and get stormed to death so taking a fight I couldn’t win in the middle was slightly better than taking it in my nat. I could at least split units in the middle. When he realized he forgot storm he bailed with almost all of his bigger army intact. However his ht lagged behind and got killed. That gave me map control and a contain but he was retreating to his nat because it was a superior defensive position. He knew he couldn’t win in the middle but might be able to win at the nat because I had no AOE damage. My nat was a shitty defensive position vs his army because of all his storm so I try to fight a losing battle in the middle. His nat is a great defensive position vs my army because I have no AOE so I would be attacking into an arc. In that context there’s no real upside to attacking. I’ve already gotten what I wanted, I’ve avoided my nat being contained and being broken by storm. I’ve also gotten a big bonus, killing all his high energy ht. But I didn’t wipe out his army, he retreated it to a superior defensive position to take the fight there. Taking the fight he wants me to take at the location he wants to take it is all downside, no upside. Expanding with map control and building up my own ht count is the safe play.

So that klauncher is the map hack he is using? Edit: yes it is the website where you can download the map hack so every time you see that message you can know it is a dog shit guy that thinks it is smart.

Probe boosting or mineral boosting is selecting your crystals, angles, and pressing return cargo to optimize your income early.

If he wants to map hack, chances are, he has no idea how to deal with a rush of units early on since he does not know how to play the game 😂
Artosis playing TvP isway too frustrating to watch and then double frustrating when he gives an opinion after. Especially as he follows the meta and his philosphy is to copy the current pro meta.. why is he moving out? little things like messing around with wraith, endless BAD MICRO in engagements, queuing tons of units, BAD UNIT RETENTION FROM ENGAGEMENT TO ENGAGEMENT I know we can't expect perfect. But you can refine this kind of thing. Fastest players have tight builds and play a lot of TvP and i find that to be good practice (and you see other people improving on there) outside of the 1v1 meta pressure

given you can just hotkey a building and hold down the key to inflate your APM, probably scratching their ass, checking their phone maybe?
That was me on the left at the end lol. I was super obsessed with getting more APM / faster mechanics and not actually learning the game back then

I'm a lowly D Terran, but I really found this video very helpful to hear from your perspective. I always felt very scared seeing how big the Protoss gateway army can be by 12-13 minutes and felt like I HAD to attack a base or something to stay in the game.
The foreign scene needs as much of this as possible. Thanks!
