The Hunt for Our First Black Hole
The Story and Physics behind how astronomers, physicists, and astrophysicists successfully located a black hole in the night sky. The search started in the 1950's and reached fruition by the 1980's. To this day, many similar X-ray stars have been observed, meaning that we have located plenty of other neutron stars and black holes.

POV: The Sun is Replaced by a Supermassive Black Hole

Imagine you're an astronaut floating in space in the Milky Way galaxy but instead of some boring star being at the center, there's a supermassive black hole with a mass of millions of stars. Yes I know it's not realistic that the planets would not be torn to shreds. It's the way she goes. Made in Blender, After Effects, and Premiere Pro.
5 Times Interstellar Got Physics Wrong
มุมมอง 450Kปีที่แล้ว
Interstellar was a blockbuster film and was loved by a wide audience. The incredible scientific accuracy of the visuals and plot are what differentiate it from others. However, it was not perfect and there were a few errors that director Christopher Nolan chose to include for specific reasons such as to avoid confusion, as well as adding imperfect human logic into the dialogue. Here are 5 Times...

How the German Tiger Tanks Became the most Feared Tanks During WW2
มุมมอง 2.3K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The German Tiger tanks was the most feared tank to encounter during WW2. It had some of the most powerful cannons on board as well as the thickest armour. Although they had their share of problems, it goes without saying that any allied crew to encounter a Tiger on the battlefield would have been intimidated.

From nuk in to emp turn us, the only thing that I don't understand is why is it hard to get the power back is it coz the EMP will still active, is yes how long dose it stay active 🤔

There is some points need to know according to me, 1) they saw a black hole and they jump into it like a lake 😊😊...here many people knows that the black hole are 1000 times bigger than our earth...they are not in a spaceship of speed of light, normal spaceship...and need minimum 100 light years to reach at event horizon.. story writer need to know the size of Black hole... 2) ...the hero moved by spaceship at the age of nearly 35 to 45 ,and return at age 124 years...80 years difference.. doesn't seen any difference on earth except his daughter.. I mean infrastructure are same as 80 years...i hope anyone get my point 🤔🤔

the optimal time for releasing deadweight is just before or at periapsis during a gravity assist. it ensure the spacecraft benefits from maximum gravitational energy and conserves fuel for future maneuvers. cooper is shown to release way past periapsis & after burning quite a bit of fuel escaping gargantuan

The interstellar render of gargantua took around 100 hours per frame and 100 days per second. It took them over a year to craft what you see. Sounds overkill till you realize this was done 10 years ago with no notion of what a black hole actually looked like. Still one of if not the best visual in a movie to this day

This video is correct, however I understood This was the most accurate model of the time. I also heard that the modelling helped the research that accurately predicted what black holes would look like.

Recarding the orbits: the Kerr metric admits three possible stable(!) orbits, as can be checked in the paper by Bardeen, Press, Teukolsky: Astrophysical Journal, Vol. 178, pp. 347-370 (1972): 1. For zero angular momentum: innermost stable orbit = 3 x Schwarzschild radius 2. For angular momentum a = M, corresponding to corotational behaviour: innermost stable orbit = 0.5 * Schwarzschild radius 3. For angular momentum a = M, corresponding to retrograde motion: innermost stable orbit = 9/2 * Schwarzschild radius. Obviously the time dilation speaks for solution 2 and so the claim is kind of correct that sooner or later other objects in the vicinity will vanish.

Wouldn't the ring be so incredibly bright that you couldn't actually see the event horizon at all? I had thought that was the most un realistic part. Our images of the black holes we do have for example are looking at wavelengths of light we normally cannot see in order to give us that image of the horizon. To our eyes in the movie it shouldn't look that different from a star I think

Scientists had calculated how it should look irl through toughest equation. We got simulations in which not humans but machines calculated how a black hole should look. Then we got image of a real black hole which resembled both scientists' calculated black hole and computer simulated black hole. So it's *not* ignorance. The physics and maths are deeper than you think and both have ability to solve most of the mysteries of space once we find right equations

No it IS more accurate, the actual interstellar black hole purposely got rid of the doppler effect and spin in order to not confuse the audience. He did exaggerate the doppler effect though.

So what you’re saying is, they perfectly reconstructed a non-spinning, or slow spinning black hole. Sure that doesn’t exist in nature as far as we know, but it’s still possible. Your version is just more realistic, theirs is still correct though.

The disc orbiting the black hole should also be a lot bluer because of the extreme temperatures. (They didnt include this in the movie because it would be so hot that it would melt the spacecraft they were flying in)
