    Is it easier to spin on ice on slates or off ice on skates? How does being able to spin off ice translate to on ice?

    Hello, know i'm late! So before this, i do have to mention that my skates are new. My finger does not stop, but i do feel some little rough edges when i run my finger down at the edges. I can only sharpen my skates at an ice skating rink, do my skates need sharpening and if they do should i go there?

      Welcome! New skates come with a factory edge which isn't always smooth or level. The rough points on the edge you're feeling will cause friction and drag on the ice and won't be easy to skate on! If your local rink has a figure skate specialist talk to them before handing over your skates. Most pro shops will have a price offered for figure skate sharpening, but was their last figure skate job five minutes ago or five months ago? We always support using specialist technicians, but we know we're a rare breed...

    Is new spinner also good for practicing 3turns and twizzles? I have it, and the gravity center is moved forward, but when you do twizzles, you actually have to be more on the center of your blade, as in old spinner, and I’m thinking is it good idea to buy the old one for that exercises?

    I don’t recommend e-spinner at all, the most regretting item I’ve ever bought. It’s definitely too hard to do anything with it and I don’t see much use of the elastic band. Go for traditional one!

      I’ve just got one, it’s seems really quite hard to balance but this guy seems to be able to get it. So we can too 😊 th-cam.com/video/IqdABnZp9cs/w-d-xo.html

      Interesting perspective! I'd encourage you to keep practicing-- just like ice it can take some time to get comfortable. Either version can allow you to do basic maneuvers, but the ESpinner gives you lateral edge movement as well as forward and backward rocker movement.

    Im a beginner skater and I’m taking it as a hobby, I can clearly tell my blades are dull but do they need a specific way to be sharpened there’s only a hockey place near me to sharpen my blades and I’m not sure what to do.

      We definitely encourage you to take figure skates to a shop that specializes in the care of figure skates!

    How do you get the band on the spinner? They're a lot less stretchy than I thought they'd be.

    • @theskatersedge9701
      @theskatersedge9701 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a struggle for sure!! We played with them for a bit, pulling and tugging and eventually we got it. If they don't relax on their own, maybe using some low heat will help? Like lowest setting on a hairdryer, very VERY gently? Let us know what works for you!

    • @scifigrl23
      @scifigrl23 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, so you get them on, but getting them off is impossible. They are just useless bands.

      @@scifigrl23 Not impossible! We managed it okay with a bit of patience. Perhaps using a flat screwdriver could help you get more leverage around the top of the board? Good luck!
