MY INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE I will not for one moment pretend that we are an independent nation when, in fact, we are in a perpetual state of economic slavery. We lost our freedom over 400 years ago when our ancestors failed to defend it well. Today, we have find ourselves traversing one form of slavery to another; first in chains, now enduring wage slavery under bad governance - fighting each other as hostile partisan tribes, instead of working together for our economic freedom, security and real prosperity. A few among us have done us really proud by excelling in sports, music, art, entertainment, scholarship and public speaking, but none have excelled at leading us to what we need most - Good Governance! It is my studied purpose to change that fact by leading us to such a reality. A reality where we no longer fight each other over party, but work together for true liberty, justice and prosperity! We can create a new Jamaica where everyone can live, work and retire with dignity in a safe, clean and orderly society. A Nonpartisan Constitutional Republic of Jamaica that protects our individual liberty, promotes personal responsibility and empowers us achieve our full potentiality. The UIC movement, of which I am honoured to be President, is committed to ending the colonial construct of partisan politics. It only divides, distracts and allow others to extract our wealth from us. It is time to unite as One Jamaica - United, Strong & Free! A nation of caring, civilized, productive people. If you agree, the UIC will make our country the world's first every successful Non-partisan Constitutional Republic. A republic that truly protects the rights and freedom of every citizen and do so equally. It is true, that today, some 90% of us are living as poor or financially insecure, while existing in a land, like Africa, filled with much abundance but under the control of a few corrupt Oligarchs. Thankfully, we are arguably the most resilient People on the planet. Even though we suffer greatly from a lapsided economy, we still sing, dance and cook with creativity and generosity. We can run, jump and swim as good or better than any. And our mothers know how to make our constantly devaluing dollar stretch miraculously. Thanks to the near four or so million Jamaican economic refugees abroad, the 3 million of us here at home will never starve to death. Inspite of the bad governance and global hardships, we can always count on the diaspora to rescue us by their massive contribution to our GDP by way of humanitarian remittances. Still, it is very scary to look at the heavy debt burden our fake governments have placed and is still placing on our backs and the backs of generations to come; but we remain hopeful that one day we will get our act together and secure new and better leadership. After all the prayers, letters to the editor and talk show radios, we will one day say enough is enough and join, volunteer, donate and vote for real change. In fact, less than a 22% voted for the present fake government and 63% didn't bother to go out and vote. The writing is on the wall. Some 80 years ago, from 1944 to now, is too long for any nation to wait on the same two parties for good governance. I feel confident that now, many of you, home and abroad, will see that partisan politics does not work and join hands with me and the UIC to proclaim with one voice that it is time for #OneJamaica because we are #StrongerTogether! The UIC and I stand ready to champion your cause for a new and better Jamaica! Rise up and donate to the UIC today so that we can give you the Jamaica we all should desire! Joseph L. Patterson, CPA, CGA Founder & President UIC Jamaica Subscribe on TH-cam at uiclibertytv and Jamaicareplaytv www.uicjamaica.com
