Pacific Northwest Trail EABO Planning Logistics Resupply
I decided to make a video covering the planning, logistics, and resupply strategy for an eastbound specific hike. Since most people go westbound, there are not many resources out there for eabos. Hopefully I can inspire a few more people to go eabo. I definitely there are some advantages to an eabo hike I discuss in the video. Hopefully a prospectice webo hiker will find this informative as well.

The Hayduke Trail: Segment 4
มุมมอง 46510 หลายเดือนก่อน
Segment 4 was the last section I needed to complete continuous footsteps from Arches to Zion. I set out to hike this short 40 mile section on 11/20/23 and finished it on the 22nd. This section provides a good sampling of many different and varied elements of the Hayduke: the class 4 chimney, the Red Benches, Fiddler Cove Canyon, and the Dirty Devil River. In fact, it was the only section I had ...
PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Purcell Mountains
มุมมอง 37910 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is final section from my 2023 Eabo PNT thru-hike from Bonner's Ferry to Eureka. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time left to complete the last section but I will be back in 2024 to complete it. The section started with hot, dry, and dusty trails. The Fiest Creek Resort was a nice reprieve as they opened their doors for me on a blistering hot Tuesday afternoon. The next day featured th...
PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Selkirk Mountains
มุมมอง 32511 หลายเดือนก่อน
This section is from Melaline Falls to Bonners Ferry and features the notorious Lions Head Ridge. The trail goes high up on a ridge with beautiful views before plunging down into the next valley where I finally crossed into Idaho. I entered grizzly bear habitat and munched on bountiful ripe huckleberries. Then I hiked along the popular Priest Lake before a big climb up to the start of the Lions...
PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Kettle River Range
มุมมอง 26111 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is generally the Kettle River Range from my 2023 eabo PNT thru-hike. I'm using the 10 sections from the PNT website to chapter out these videos. It's a bit more fuzzy in eastern Washington. Republic (via Sherman Pass) to Metaline Falls is featured in this video. This section starts high up on the Kettle Crest before dropping down to the next valley and ultimately the small town of Northpor...
PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Okanogan Highlands
มุมมอง 39111 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the Okanogan Highlands section from my 2023 Eabo PNT thru-hike. I hiked from Oroville to Republic (via the east hitch) in about 5 days. I sent a box to Bonaparte Lake to help break up the carry. This section had some road walks and bushwacks, but the heat and unrelenting sun were the biggest challenges. PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Pasayten Wilderness

This is the Pasayten Wilderness section from my 2023 Eabo PNT thru-hike. The Pasayten was as brutal as it was beautiful. The blowdowns were horrible after splitting off the PCT to the climb out of the Pasayten River. Then the trail became excellent, featuring great views and well maintened tread. I hiked from Ross Lake to Oroville in 6 days. Follow/Contact on IG: @davidbraunlich Strava: www.str...
PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: North Cascades
มุมมอง 265ปีที่แล้ว
Here is the North Cascades section from my 2023 PNT Eabo thru-hike. Unfortunately, the section through NCNP remained closed from a fire the previous season. This section is from Bellingham to Baker Lake. I hiked around Baker Lake where I hitched into Concrete and then up to Ross Lake. PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Puget Sound
มุมมอง 171ปีที่แล้ว
Here is the Puget Sound section of my 2023 Eabo PNT thru-hike from Port Towsend to Bellingham. This section is mostly road walks and dreaded my most hikers. I tried to embrace the easy miles and frequent opportunities for town food. With this mindset I was able to really enjoy this section. PNT Eabo Thru-Hike: Olympic Mountains
มุมมอง 425ปีที่แล้ว
This is Olympic Mountains section of my 2023 eabo PNT thru-hike. Even though it was late June and early July, Appleton, Hayden, and Constance Pass were clear of snow. Rangers advised that I go in with ice axe and micropsikes but I used neither. The trail was beautiful and brutal at time. The Bogachiel wasn't really that bad. Watch out for the stinging nettles. Here is the first section of my 2023 eabo thru-hike of the PNT. After a long couple days of travel, I made it to Cape Alava to start my hike. The Olympic Coast was amazing. I hope you enjoy. The Hayduke Trail: Bryce to Zion
มุมมอง 413ปีที่แล้ว
This continues our hike from Tropic, through Bryce, and on to Zion via the Grand Canyon bypass alternate. We departed the guidebook route for the most part to cut over directly to Zion. Our route included the main part of Bryce, the Under-the-Rim Trail, the seldom seen Grandview Trail and then mostly sandy roads and one tricky canyon before heading into Orderville. Unfortunately, we missed our ...
The Hayduke Trail: Escalante to Tropic
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
On May 27th 2023, Jamie and I returned to Hole-in-the-Rock Road to continue our Hayduke journey. We set out for a two week trip going all the way to Zion via the Grand Canyon bypass. This video is the first of two parts for the section covering guidebook segments 7 and 8. Segments 7 and 8 wind their way through remote canyons where water is a very limited resource. We cached food at Round Valle...
Ouachita Trail Thru Hike: March 2023
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
On March 18th, 2023 I started a solo eastbound thru-hike of the Ouachita Trail. The OT is wonderful trail spanning 222 miles in Oklahoma and Arkansas. The trail offers plenty of great views and it is very well maintained. The shelters are consistently spacious and clean. I often had them all to myself even during peak spring hiking season. Plenty of solitude can still be found on the Ouachita. ...
Soft Rock 100: Backpacking the Hard Rock Course
มุมมอง 1.7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I set out from Silverton to hike the Soft Rock 100 route on August 4th, 2022. The idea is to hike the Hard Rock 100 course in a few days. I started with a few friends for the first 15 miles but was on my run the rest of the way after that. We had a bad weather forecast, which materialized the first day, but improved after. This course blew my mind in how relentless and steep it is. It's also in...

Great vid, nice footage. I’m a little bit surprised that you did this section without a bear canister, I thought they were required in Oly Nat. Park. It did you use another method? Looking forward to watching the remainder of your trek!
I know it’s way too late now but the music volume is too high making it very distracting and difficult to hear you. Besides that nice video
Great video. I just got back into hiking after a long hiatus and would love to do the Quachita Trail. Live in Polk county Arkansas so perfect first thru hike to start with.
Very good! Thank you! March seems to be a good time to hike.
8 days! Impressive! Thinking about giving this a go this winter or spring
You,r,camera,sucks,you,have,no,idea,how,to,use,camera.
Damn bro we got the same AT tattoo LOL
That skunk gave zero F’s
Can u seperate channel for vegans pls
God bless you for sharing good info... Vegan melas would be blessing for the world.
You mentioned a stretch without water? What was the furthest stretch without a water source to filter from?
It was coming down from Virginius Pass towards Telluride. Couldn’t have been more than 10 miles. I just wasn’t paying attention to water because it’s so abundant everywhere else.
Hike there many times great informational video, you had me taking notes
It's Refreshing to See a Proper Trail Vid thank you
MR.B
His name is unc
Great video! 18:00...LOL!
Thanks. Didn’t know this specific trail existed. When you got to 0.55 in the video I realized I mountain bike there around that rock outcropping and throughout that area to Hans Flat. I will check out some of this trails other sections. Not able to do all of it. It does run through one of my favorite areas.
Nice commentary and great video. That waterfall at 4:52 looks like such a beautiful spot!
Dave what was your start date?
June 26th
@@davebraunlich thanks you’re PNT videos are very helpful
Doc from The Trek here, stepping out on this one in a month ! Great posts here !
Enjoy, you should have mostly summer conditions by then!
Good video Mr B. :)
Great video brotha! Thanks for the info. Still a couple years away from the Duke. PCT sobo this year! Happy Trails, Roadrunner
_Cool and interesting hiking adventure video with incredibly knowledgeable and engaging narration, this PNT Eabo Thru-Hike through the Selkirk Mountain looks breathtaking, and it's inspiring to see you take on such a challenging adventure. Keep up the amazing work!_
I’m hiking this exact section on these exact dates, in a few weeks! Good to see the preview and know what kinds of weather I could expect! Cool video dudes!
Looking good Dave will watch this with dad this weekend. Look forward to seeing it! Keep following your passion and be safe ❤️
_Cool and interesting hiking adventure video with incredibly knowledgeable and engaging narration, this Pacific Northwest Trail hike showcases beautiful nature's splendor with clearly and distinctly explored and enhanced by beautiful inspiration song. Thank you for sharing this wonderful inspiration with us._
Beautiful country. Curious what pack you're using?
It's the Atom+ 40L. Really liked it! Rest of my gear is linked to in the description.
Great video friend, this looks and feels amazing! 👏👏
Congrats on your thru hike and thanks for sharing!
That grouse scared the shit out of you didn't? I always get freaked out when they explode out of the bushes.
Really beautiful landscape, I need to check out this trail more closely.
Love this video! Keep following your passion ❤
Looks beautiful and challenging! The trail angel property was clutch!
Incredible how much less snow there was just two weeks later! Patches where you had fields, and lots more water. Impressive miles considering that!
It would have been really nice if you would show the trail? Especially when your standing on the top of the highest peak in Arizona ! I like watching peoples hiking videos to see what they are seeing and to get info about the area they are in and to see the beauty. I hope you have taken a lot of pictures for yourself to reflect back ❤
Check out my newer videos.
LESS GOO MR. B
Nice …. TY for sharing. What month? Looks like there was no issue with water, did I see a water cache?
March. There was a water cache that someone left for any hiker. I did not prearrage any caches.
This look like a great hike. I am adding this to my bucket list. New follower here. Crow
Such a lovely scenery my friend.
How many impassable, at high tide, zones did you encounter? Did you use tide tables to work around them?
The only one that I had to wait out was the Oil City Headland. There's a 2 ft tide restriction and it's the one you really need to take seriously. ONP will give you a detailed tide chart when you get your permit.
@@davebraunlich Thanks. I do take the tides seriously. They're no joke.
How many days did you take to complete the hike?
four days three nights. More like 3.5 days
Nice video!! This is a trail that is in my radar!! Thanks for sharing your experience. Have you done any backpacking in Kentucky?
No, but want to do the Sheltowee Trace someday!
Yeah the Sheltowee is nice. Red River Gorge is an experience all in itself.
Get that work in Mr b 💪💪
thank you so much!
Well done. Planning to do this trip in the fall this year. 8 days was ambitious. I'm hoping to do it in 10. We'll see how that works out.
10 days is definitely doable if you’re in shape. I’d love to see the OT in the fall. Good luck!
Great Video! You and @DixonHikes are huge inspirations for me to get on this trail even more, been doing research to Thru-hike this trail for March 2024. Man You put in some serious miles for sure a day. I'm looking at 14-16 days to complete this as of right now.
Thank you! It’s a great little trail. Enjoy it.
Yessir mr b
I did about 25 miles of this trail sometime in the 1980s. I didn't see anyone on the trail. End of summer and lots of spiderwebs across the trail.
Me and Jeremiah think this is a W.
That crossing right before flatside pinnacle was up to my butt when we crossed it. I’m glad we went for it but it was our sketchiest crossing. Crystal prong eas a strong second
This is Doc from oak mountain shelter. Excellent video. You inspired us to do more miles and we finished far ahead of our expected eta. Peace 70’s
Awesome! Glad to hear you guys made it to the end. Congrats!
