BYD is now known as RIDE in the US. They were forced to spin-off because congress passed a law that banned federal funds from being used to buy BYD buses. Also Proterra was bought by 2 different companies (one bought the batteries and one bought the business) but doesn't look like they will make buses again. NovaBus has indeed exited the US market but if you read on some forums they have a Volvo bus at their Canada facility that is under-wraps literally. So they may just end up as Volvo in Canada. New Flyer can't even keep up with its orders currently. So much so that the MTA in New York is ordering 5 Solaris Urbino buses to test and Solaris may bring their business to the US market. They also tested some Citaro's a few years back but nothing ever can of it. And also Vicinity Motor Company (aka Grande West) has sold to another company also). I think there were also rumors that Link transit in Washington state was looking into EBusco buses. Here in Cleveland we had 40ft NABIs for years, they were crap, the turbo always ended up breaking and they would blow black smoke. Now we have all Gillig's mostly BRT Plus CNG models with a few BRT Plus Diesel models (they were ordered before Triskett Garage got their CNG tanks installed, Hayden Garage is 100% CNG but Triskett still has 20 Diesel Gillig's and 20 60ft new Flyer diesels.) And even though they are changing you seats, they still look better than our hard plastic seats we have that are always dirty. I miss our thin cloth seats but thanks to bed bugs those had to go...

I need the OC line to be hourly during mid day & evening times. The amount of construction that OC Vibe is doing on Katella between the Artic & Honda Center, should help potentially alter it's schedule. The OC street car also opens this summer, & has a stop at the Santa Ana station.

It's not the tall bike, it's the tall wheels. I know the bike is custom to your purposes, but it's too big to use on buses and trains, and too top heavy with that permanent basket on the back. Also, your clips often show you putting the bike on the slot furthest from the bus, I think it would bounce less and be more secure closer to the pivot. I use a folding bike with 20" wheels for bus and train commutes and it's easier to deal with than other bikes even though I hardly ever fold it. The seatpost and handlebars extend high enough that I ride upright. It's a steel Dahon I bought used for $150.
