It was acting tail heavy because it would climb and stall out and fall, you added down elevator to help it keep the nose down until it build up enough speed to fly properly. After adjusting and using the gyro you found launching with the gyro was key to get it in the air...RIGHT ?

You cannot fly with the batteries like that. You are pulling most of your current from the 2s pack!!! Just get an 8s battery and be done with it. Good flying by the way!

Good test. I have a lot of df jets and fly on 6400 hsd batteries for 3.5 minutes with about 30 percent left on my 90mm jets.

Nice flight! I worked on F4 Phantoms as a Fire Control Technician. I was with VMFA-542 from its formation at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) El Toro, to its deployment to Da Nang Vietnam, April 1965 to December 1965 and its breakup (I forget the proper term) at MCAS Iwakuni Japan. Ps. I use an image of the Squadron emblem/patch as my TH-cam icon.

Is there any chance you can measure the width and height of fuse in mm? Because each brand of battery are different in size. Maybe it could save you money and ensure the correct battery is purchased. Mr Andy! Superb flying sir! I was just thinking, though. Although you expressed the weight of the battery may not be the problem, actually it still may have something to do with it. Although it does not seem like a problem while flying the plane, the plane is still carrying more weight, therefore a little extra power is needed to do similar maneuvers you would do with a lighter (like a 5000 mah) lipo battery, although may not be noticeable extra power. Usually, the more milliamps within the LiPo battery, be prepared to have more weight within your battery. Now as far as the flight time, do same test with a 4000mah 60c + lipo battery and see what happens. If you don't get similar flight times, it will definitely be close to it due to the much lighter weight. To be honest, I think between 4500 and 6500 mah are the sweet spots for planes like the one you were flying in the video.

You should always leave gyro off on maiden, trim it out first , then take it up high and kick on gyro and see what it does. Also put your gain on dial , so you can tone down the gains so it's doesn't wobble so much.

I would have been scared of smashing the nose while landing. I have a new FMS f16 64mm V2. For belly landing just land her flat? I did the maiden landing high Alpha but the nose got into the grass. Nothing terrible but probably not good to repeat it often … best regards from south east Bavaria !

I did the maiden flight and maiden+1 on my Eflite SR71 - did not use SAFE as I find it is really had to feel as if you have control - mine was like a bullet - and very Pointy..... LOL I had both fins RED not one... landing was so easy glide it in and apply up elevator to plonk it down - Well done on your Maiden Flight ..

To be honest, a 70 amp ESC can work just as good! You can also get away with a 60 amp, but you have to be on a conservative side. With the one hundred amp ESC, look out to watch the heat of the motor. Happy flying!

This place use to be nice and the water was much cleaner and clearer. People leave trash all over and not respectful. It's sad to see so many Hispanics leaving trash everywhere. Hopefully, this place gets cleaned up so everyone can enjoy it and mKe it a nice place again.
