KELLIE GARDNER & JEREMY FINLAYSON: Courageous, inspirational & selfless
Kellie Gardner is one of the most courageous and selfless people I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. Less than 18 months ago, Kellie and her fiancé, Port Adelaide footballer Jeremy Finlayson had the world at their feet. They’d just become parents to little Sophia and relocated from Sydney to Adelaide to be closer to family.
Their lives were rocked when, at just 25 years young, Kellie was diagnosed with bowel cancer. She bravely battled surgery, chemo and radiotherapy and finally the family thought they were through the worst of it.
Recently however, Kellie has been told the cancer is back and it has moved to her lung. As she prepares for another bout of chemo, along with wonderful support from Jeremy, Kellie isn’t wallowing in self pity. She is an absolute fighter and is now on a selfless mission to help as many people as she can

I am a medical staff and tried almost every unit in the hospital except Neuro. But man this incredible Dr Teo is a phenom. Articulate, highly intelligent and very talented doctor that I don’t see from other specialists wherever I go. This man is endowed by GOD of extraordinary hands and brain to save people who need his expertise. Superhuman doc is what we need these days, no politics just confidence and knowledge. Those doctors who put him down are just lame and less knowledge compared to Doc Teo.

I was put in a taxi that pulled up to the garden door of the recovery ward I was in at Sunshine private hospital. A nurse helped me into the taxi who drove me to the backpackers in the town, I was too I’ll to speak or move unaided as I had just awoken from a surgery on my brain. The operation was a emergency according to the doctor who organised for me to pay cash to point of anaesthesia. While under knife a family member was notified and she emptied my bank account. I was wheeled to teller machine on waking and when it was declined I was put in the taxi. 2 doctors were travelling before starting work but stopped the trip to look after me. I didn’t meet them as I was unconscious the entire 2 weeks and had left as soon as I began to stir. I was put onto a ferry back to Hamilton Island…it was shocking and terrifying and terrible. He had a ng on end of name then.

Dr Teo's treatment at the hands of his colleagues and medical establishment is loathesome. Professional envy or rivalry has no place in our medical system , and we the people have every right to expect better. Wake up to yourselves and cut it out, you are all valued and regarded members of our society and we are all disappointed in this ridiculous situation, we rightly expect better of you, you yourselves should expect better of yourselves.

What this doctor, this surgeon, this man, this australian, has been put through is criminal. His story will be another black mark on the pages of Australia history. This upsets me, to think of the families being denied this surgeon is beyond wrong. Debbie NSW

When Teo talks technical, he continually gets things wrong - that's a worry. He said only a few people die from leukemia. In Australia, currently about 64% of cases survive 5 years. In the Western world generally, about half survive 5 years. He said TCMS (trans cranial magnetic stimulation) is non-invasive. That is very misleading. It uses electromagnets to induce electric currents in the brain, and when used to "cure" things like depression is no different to the now discredited electric shock therapy, which itself replaced the discredited frontal lobotomy. All work by ruining or killing brain cells. As for the interviewers's claim about getting hot ears from talking on a mobile phone for several hours, well I've had the same effect from talking on a landline phone for several hours. You hold something next to your ear, it slightly irritates the skin, which results in greater blood flow.

Sucks that she’s going through this. Wish her a speedy recovery and hope that the cancer is gone for good soon! But, Jez earns a ridiculous amount of money. He was on $1mill per year at GWS, 5 year contract. He’s earning a good wage at port as well. I struggle to understand why ppl set up go fund me pages for this scenario. For the everyday person, sure, set it up, they need the funds. Jeremy doesn’t need $60K from regular working ppl. Put it towards cancer research or donate it to a foundation! Poor form if they accepted the money imo.
