Joey logano after winning the championship he even said that the playoffs are more better than a regular season points format and who even wants to see a guy win the championship with 2 or 3 races left in the season it's so boring and NASCAR doesn't even want to get rid of the playoffs for a lot of reasons.

The best system would be to balance two objectives: #1- overall greatness in the regular season being more rewarded, #2- with the champion determined by more than a 1 race showing at Phoenix. I think the way you do that, is you shorten the playoffs, and you decrease the cars that get in it. Cut the playoff field from 16 cars to 8 cars by extending the regular season up to the point of the 8-car cutoff. NOW, you have NO shot at the championship unless you were 1 of the 8 best drivers over a 30 race schedule. That leaves 6 playoff races. The first 3 is used to cut the field down to 4. The next 3 are used to determine the champion. Make the final 3 races 1 superspeedway, 1 short track, and 1 road course. So the winner is a driver who excelled with everything on the line, across 3 different types of tracks.

Just to give even more perspective, Kyle Busch in 2015, despite only competing in 25 races, *still* fared better in nearly *every* statistical metric than Joey Logano did in 2024 across 36 races. Busch 2015: 5 wins, 12 top 5s, 16 top 10s, 21 top 20s, 1 pole, 2 DNF’s, 736 laps led, 8.2 average start, 10.78 average finish. Logano 2024: 4 wins, 7 top 5s, 13 top 10s, 21 top 20s, 3 poles, 6 DNF’s, 414 laps led, 12.0 average start, 17.11 average finish.

A win doesn't guarantee you make the chase. Keep the same format except a win doesn't guarantee you advance to the next round. 2 drivers are eliminated after 1st round, then one and then one more and you still have a championship 4. Move the championship race back to Homestead.

Does anyone look at the empty stands and horrible ratings? Stage racing was put in to charge more for commercials! (Its called hard breaks). It tried to emulate the NFL marketing. You see the results of this format. Joey looked embarrassed by the whole charade. And he and NASCAR should be. I've saved thousands $$$ not going to this garbage since 2017.

Might be a little hot take, but I’m fine with NASCAR having playoff. However, I find the idea of ‘win and you’re in’ very stupid, at least for NASCAR. It rely on winning instead of being good consistently throughout the season.

Whats cool is that I don't even care anymore. At first I would be upset that my favorite driver was screwed by the system, or that the best driver of the year wasn't the champion. Now I don't even feel anything.
