Uaneen Fitzsimons interviews Mark E. Smith
I videotaped this from RTE's "No Disco" program in around 1997. Sad to think that both participants are no longer with us. Uaneen Fitzsimons died in a tragic accident in 2000, and Mark E. Smith died from cancer in 2018. The interview highlights Fitzsimons' tact as an interviewer and Smith's classic "grumpy" personality. I particularly liked his comments on "Dave Bowie"....

Lance Armstrong - a masterclass in lies and deception

The original TH-cam video of this press conference has comments disabled. So, in the light of what the world now knows, I'm uploading it on my channel where comments can be made.
Thanks for that hugely optimistic comment. I only put this up so I could play it at last Friday nights dinner. But of course events swept that plan into a cocked hat......
Jeff Lynnes Electric Light Orchestra will never end as long as ears can hear and beards can beard!!
A good interviewer lets the interviewed speak in their personal natural rhythm, not try to fill the silence in a natural conversational pause _immediately._ You end up derailing every single answer that way. TV interviewers can be the worst in this regard. (not that this is SO bad, but it's definitely obvious here)
I thought this was an excellent interviewing style. Getting on with MES is an achievement in itself.
Armstrong the Doper!
Dave Bowie - wonderful:)
Exactly 😂! Not to mention "drums and bass"......
You can see the media around the brave reporter shaking their head in righteousness. What a bunch of cowards and failures
'You're not worth the chair you're sitting on' well those words came back to bite him
Well put
Uaneen! x
Dilution not distillation
I wonder why someone thought it was necessary to include the fall music in the background
Its still rude to refer to people as cancer
BABA
lance is one of the worst.
The Otherwise - The Screenplay for a Horror Film That Never Was.....
Uaneen Fitzsimons interviews Mark E. Smith 11.7.23 1537pm i would like to see the whole interview. i am only here due to my wishing to bone up on, discuss the alleged secret horror movie screenplay the former members of the fall need to make - allegedly they have published this screen play.. is it worth indulging with or is it the usual convoluted smarm pap we have come to expect...? i mean, stood at one's back door peering thru a crack in the door at the veg plot is all good and well... but it doesn't count as an alternative to enjoying someone chat about stuff they enjoy or are passionate about.
I'd like to see the entire interview also. But ss you know, broadcasters ( in this case it's the Irish National TV station RTE) always edit interviews before airing. Its possible the unedited interview still exists in the RTE archives, but I wouldn't bet on it.
@@bludgeoncorpinc.6768 1424pm 12.7.23 i dont see why an unexpurgated m.e.s interview with some irate lady (she seemed angry for some reason...) shouldn't exist. no doubt people with their lack of foresight in such matters - pop cultural archives surely need preserving... but the people in the know allus think nothing of such stuff ............. though pop culture isn't as throwaway as you'd imagine... those people didn't think it was of relevance. well, if the pogues can't get on with an irritable mr g burn then there's not much hope for the rest of music land...
dont bite the hand that feeds sore ass little bitch lossers!
RIP x 2 ..
one of the best this in terms of giving you the headlines. heavily edited - love the David bowie bit
Good video. Thanks.
He never gave a shite.
I think I'm in love with her voice
I was in love with her big time in the '90s 🤩.....
Dj's think their musicians and that's a problem.... Oh how I miss you Mark.
Think their musicians what?
@@marknewbold2583. DJ’s think they are musicians
loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Anthony! I used to know Uaneen and a google search brought me here! Thanks for uploading ! How have you been!
Hi Amy, sent you a message on Messenger......(Anthony)
A conman & compulsive liar? If he also lives in Florida, then he's qualified to run for president 🇺🇲💪
i HATE that armstrong is still getting press to this day & probably still making money talking about himself. what an absolute piece of sh*t
"Drums and bass" 😁
🤣
Much as I love Dave Bowie I agree with MES. Lots of pale imitations particularly in the 80s
I think he meant Bowie was the pale imitation - so not like Iggy etc.. who were the 'real thing'.
Typical 90s generation That makes up words and definitions, blame shifts and gets butt hurt when they are held accountable
Very similar to watching the Clintons
'Dave Bowie'
you had to give Mark 5 seconds after he's stopped talking just to ensure he didn't have his next sentence ready to fire
😂
Hi used the cancer as a hidden seek he makes me sick disgusting person
Used the cancer like a get out of jail key , lowest form of life
Mark correctly perceived the 7 year cycle
George Clinton said the same thing
I fucked his neighbour in about 2003 ish
Arrogant LYING drug addict. No criminal charges have been filed against this drug addict REPROBATE?? Still???!
OMG. Lance won't forgive the guy for telling the truth.
he is a looser, always has been
Comes across like a total narcasist who loves to martyr themselves.
I don't care about him being liar, what i care about was his bullying and making hostile threats against reporters, "friends", teammates and other bikers in concealing the lie, and attempting to ruin lives in the process.
exactly, thats the larger problem
Hincapie looks so awkward lol
What a total embarrassment! I hope he had to return every cent he ever made. He thought he was so damn smart & everyone else was a idiot.
It's one thing to lie the way Marion Jones did (not that it excuses it) where she never played a race card and atoned for her mistakes. She never threatened any of her competitors, paid her debt to society, and makes kids aware of right and wrong. It's quite another to play the Cancer card, be a selfish ass, and be guilty of witness intimidation like Lance. LiveStrong, more like LieStrong.
She did play the race card in high school but in fairness she played the woman card
Lance: "Arent we supposed to forgive, in this society?" Seconds later.... Lance: "I don't think i could ever forgive you...."
to hell with consistency!
Man... Lance would be insane at Avalon. (If you know, you know)
The only balls in that room belong to that reporter. Everybody in america loved armstrong at that time, and for this guy to write that statement and request an interview. He believed in what he was saying, thats for sure.
we need more journalists like him now! what a brave man blasting that asshole
In fairness, Lance had a ball.
Wow the ball on this guy Armstrong.
'The ball' hahah yes!! My kinda of humor!
does anyone know what the reporter said in response to him?
th-cam.com/video/0Poh3JmXfEw/w-d-xo.html Hi Kelly, not sure if any more footage of the above press conference exists, but this link gets you to the same reporter (Paul Kimmage) speaking about Armstrong.
Thank you very much for your reply. It's a shame there is probably no more footage as he seemed quite upset by Armstrong's comments and rightly so. Thanks for the link, I will enjoy watching that. :)
LANCE: "Oprah … I’m telling you, the playing field was level. Strong Fact/Conviction 100 out of 100: This is demonstrably false, for two reasons. One, Armstrong was a hyper-responder to the red cell booster, EPO. That’s because his natural hematocrit ratio was a low level for a pro cyclist, ranging from 38 to 41. The ratio that set off alarms of suspicion in tests (when Armstrong won his 7 Tours) was 50. Armstrong therefore had more room for artificial red blood cell improvement than most cyclists. Two, Armstrong paid the most money (provably $1 million and more likely $5 million during his 7 Tour wins) for exclusive services of the sport’s top blood doping doctor, Italy’s Michele Ferrari, who has been banned from cycling and faces criminal charges in Italy.
