Sound System Outernational is an ongoing initiative of practitioners and researchers, in association with Goldsmiths, University of London, dedicated to recognizing, stimulating and supporting sound system culture worldwide.

Launch Session w/ “Space, Place, and Belonging; Sonic Imagination and Essential Creative Practices”.
Sound system culture has always been an innovative practice. In Jamaica, in diaspora, and in the world at large, sound system culture has generated new art forms, built connections between people, and inspired cultural and political movements. In Space, Place, and Belonging; Sonic Imagination and Essential Creative Practices, we address sound as a generative force in music, literature and society, reflect on sound system’s impact on other art forms and sonic practices, and consider what these practices can teach us about the present political moment.

One of the thing I remember from a month-long visit to Germany a few years ago was how I was able to find some really, really good deals on food at the grocery story.
