Today we'll be expanding upon that and learning a brand new song, 'Sunny' originall...

I hope you're all well and enjoying learning the piano with me, make sure to...

Hello Piano Practice Partners, Today we're delving into a new key, F major! We're taking everything thing we've learnt so far about ii-V-I's an applying it to this new key which is very exciting to see how easily concepts we've learnt from previous lessons can be carried over and applied to different scales. All this is building towards and new song that we'll be learning soon, so have fun gett...

Lesson 15 - Melody (expanding on Autumn Leaves)
มุมมอง 2893 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hello Piano Practice Partners, In today's lesson we're taking our first proper look at playing Melody! Using the previous lesson on 'Autumn Leaves' we hopefully by now understand the form, the chords and the inversions we can use whilst playing this song. Now we add a little extra spice by folding the melody on top (instead of me singing at you....nobody wants that.) It's super fun and I can't ...

Hello Piano Practice Partners, Here is the practice along session for Lesson 14, in which we were learning the jazz standard 'Autumn Leaves.' As always in these practice along sessions, I'll set up the exercise, set a timer and then mute my piano, so that we can practice side-by-side, holding each other accountable (without my piano playing distracting you) If you haven't checked out the lesson...

Lesson 10 - Our 2nd song - 'Sunday Morning' by Maroon 5.
Thank you for sharing this nice gift I have 2 questions: 1. How to put both lessons together ? Left and right hands together. Should we wait for a 3rd lesson ? 2. Is there a sheet to help ? The one I have is very different with F# Best regards
Your doing fine…..Remember ! ……slow and steady
Always. Thanks for the kind words ❤️
Good lesson…. I like your enthusiasm
Thank you for the kind words 🙂 hope you enjoy the other lessons and practice alongs 🎹
Hey, Good morning. I'm still with you piano partner.
Fantastic Edward 🎹 glad you're still sticking with it, hope the practice is going well
Hi, I think you should call the note B flat instead of A sharp, because there is already A in scale
That is a great shout! I'll clarify in a future video, thanks for pointing it out :)
Thanks for the lesson. You certainly slow down and explain well. I'm loving it.
You're very welcome, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos 😊🎹
Really enjoying these videos, thanks a lot! Could you please let me know what piano you're using?
No worries Karl, thanks for joining us. It's quite an old model now, but I'm using the Nord Electro 2 🎹
i don't hear any audio when you play the piano, except the intro, is that normal?
Yes indeed. All the video 'Lessons' have a corresponding 'Practice Along' video, where I set up an exercise (that we learnt in the Lesson) set a timer and mute my piano, so that you can practice along. Hopefully that makes sense 🎹
@PianoPracticePartner Thank you, that's an amazing idea
No worries, hope you enjoy the videos 🙂
Love your videos, I’m slowly catching up! Keep doing what you’re doing.
Glad you're enjoying the videos, lots more coming soon. If you haven't already, make sure to check out the correspondence 'Practice along' videos to practice what you're learning in the 'Lesson' videos 🎹🙂
Hey, I still hanging in there. The 2 5 1 is starting to sound good. Edward Henderson
Great news 🎉 keep at it, you'll be pro in no time!
Can you add piano notes in the area you wrote major and minor so I can follow the music and read notes at the same time as you explaining it. I am new at the piano and trying to read notes other than just rememorizing keys on a keyboard.
Great shout. I'll see about adding Notes to the edits or getting some piano software that'll flash up what key I'm playing. Leave it with me...
Thank you very much! I just found your video today, and the teaching is so good! keep on!!!! Really appreciate 🙏
Thank you Wesley 🙌 check out the previous videos, and Practice Alongs (where I mute my playing, so we can practice along together) Lots of videos coming soon. Glad to have you with us 🎹
Where have you been? Glad to have you back
Sorry for the absence. Lots of life things happening, but back to it 🎹💪🏻
Thank you again for taking your time out to teach piano , Im loving it 😂😂😂😂
Glad you enjoy it! Make sure to check out the practice along videos too, to apply what you're learning in the lessons 🙂🎹

Thanks for the lessons and I am still with you. EDWARD HENDERSON
Thanks Edward 🎹 glad you're still onboard.
I just found this today. I'll try to catch up tmrw!
Amazing. Hope you enjoy it when you get around to it 🎹🙂
Edward Henderson in New Haven Connecticut. I have been partnering with you for a little while, and you really make the lessons understandable. The explanation or simple and applicable to learning 251 chord progression. I am happy I found you. Thanks, Edward Henderson
Very glad to have you on board Edward 🎹many more lessons coming soon for you to get stuck into!
Thanks, I am digging it all because you are good at making it clear to understand and play.
“Key in F” = B is flat = Bb. That’s why the ii in F is a G minor 😊 and not a G Major.
Great info well articulated 🎹
These are exactly the type of lessons I was looking for🤗
Amazing, welcome to the channel 🎹 have fun practicing along.
No audio?
Hey 👋🏻 thanks for the comment. In the practice along sessions, once I set up the exercise and set the timer, I mute my piano during the timer so that you can practice without being distracted by me playing. In the corresponding Lesson video, the whole thing is unmuted and breaks down everything in more detail. These practice along sessions are meant to supplement the lessons. Hope that helps 🎹
thank you sir
You are most welcome.
I am really learning to play with a good understanding by the way you teach. You make the difficult easy. Thanks, I am your piano partner.
@@edwardhenderson3580 so glad to hear you're enjoying the lesson and getting a lot out of them 🙂 keep at it Piano Practice Partner!
Excellent video, I look forward to learning with your guidance in supplement to my lessons!
Welcome aboard 🎹 great that you're running these alongside your lessons! Make sure you check out the 'Practice Along' videos too if you want some dedicated/accountability practice time.
Thanks for being so supportive and understand. I am getting there little by little and having fun doing it with you.
I am learning a lot this is very helpful thank you!
You're most welcome, glad you're getting a lot out of the videos. Lots more coming soon 🎹
I screwed up I did not understand you had practice lessons also. I have not been doing the practice lessons, so I had to go back and do all the practice I have now caught up. That was not good and I will tell you why. I was getting my lessons from you tube in stead of you web site and did not know you had the practice lessons until i went to you web site. I hope no one else is doing the same as me. So, I am back and ready to go again with your good teaching and all the fun of it.
Don't worry about it, just think of it as you've gained some bonus content suddenly ☺️ I'm working on how to make it clearer than there are Lesson & the Practice Alongs, as new people to the channel miss that also. I'll have a think, but glad you're now doing the Practice Alongs too. Have fun 🎹
When you play the blues scale you keep using the C instead of D on your markingboard. Wich one is it? Also, are there diffent blues scales? Because when searching on google i came across other keys then you use Kind of confussing now
Great spot! You should be using the C in this example, not the D that I have written. We'll be going over the Blues scale again in a future lesson, so I will clarify. In terms of application, you can play the Blues scale in every key. Much like a major scale can be a C major scale, F major scale, A major scale etc. the Blues scale can be applied to all keys. The scale dictates the sequence, or notes that you can play. You can then take that sequence and apply it to different keys. We'll be going over all of this in future lessons. Hope that helps 🎹
Each lesson is becoming more fun and interesting. I am learning much faster for some reason but I don't know what it is but it is sure working for me. I am doing two lessons a week and it is easy. Thank you for making it so enjoyable.
Hi Joe. I'm glad you're enjoying the lessons and are getting a lot out of them, amazing to hear! Keep at it. We'll both be out gigging before you know it 🎹
I'm missing the sound of your piano.
yes, me too, would be nice hear it, not only his voice.
Hello 👋🏻 in the 'practice along' sessions, I mute my piano so that you can practice with some accountability, without my piano distracting you. The corresponding 'Lesson' is all unmuted, breaking down what we're leaning
Hope that helps.
@@RumoAoCeuChannelhello. Thanks for the comment. In the 'practice along' videos, I set up the exercise, set a timer for us and then mute my piano so that you can practice along with some accountability without being distracted by my playing. The 'Lesson' videos, which can all be found on my page, fully breaks down what we're learning and why, all unmuted. Lesson video - to learn. Practice along video - to apply what you've learnt. Hope that helps
@@PianoPracticePartner ok, thank you
I AM ENJOYING THIS SO MUCH. I AM REALY LEARNING SO SIMPLY ANDD YOU ARE SO EASY TO FOLLOW IT IS WONDERFUL AND ENJOYABLE. KEEP UP THE GOOD TRAINING IT IS SO GOOD FOR ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK PUTTING THIS ALL TOGETHER. IT IS JUST THE RIGHT SPEED FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO LEARN TO PLAY. THANKS AGAIN, JOE
Hi Joe, I'm so glad you're enjoying the lessons and that they are helping with your playing! Keep it up, plenty more videos on the way 🎹🙂
Doing well, thank you. Keep talking. One of the parents of a former young keyboard student has a lifetime history playing guitar. He plays piano like he's playing guitar. We made videos of the keyboard lessons for more than a year each lasting about one hour. Now six years old regarding concentration and patience, she is that one ideal student we all wish we had (forever).
Glad you're doing well @DarleneDranda 🙂 amazing, that student/teacher dynamic is so important and finding individual ways in which to engage and stick with the material is such a challenge. But ultimately worth it in the long run. Thank you for checking out this channel, hope you enjoy all the subsequent videos.
Piano/keyboard lessons have a calming effect with some students. Even when very young children bang the keys like a drum and have no idea how to play, praise them for pounding the keys at all. Over time, when young children show an interest in learning to play adults and teachers need to watch, listen and play along. Take pictures and videos. Everyone benefits.
Some of my keyboard students are distracted by dogs barking, airplanes and butterflies when I record lessons outdoors. Love this lesson. Many thanks. These exercises could help me, too. I also get distracted when the student is distracted. All in good fun as music lessons should be.
Distractions are so hard in today's world. Making these video lessons are proving super helpful for my own practice to help focus my attention and lean into the material/practice, so I'm glad we're all mutually benefitting from it 🙂🎹
@@PianoPracticePartner Thank you. The videos are real confidence builders. I just wrote about this subject in the description of my latest music video. We're on the same page it seems. Be well.
Students and teachers need more videos like this one. Your teaching method is outstanding from instruction to videography. Your lessons could also be used by music teachers in a group setting or individual lesson. Need help? Play it back two or three times. Your channel is a great find.
Aw I'm so glad to hear that, thank you for the kind words it means a lot.
Just found this channel, I’m still listening to the intro but I like the idea of following someone who’s spreading what they learn as they go, so I’ve subscribed
Thank you for the sub 🎹 I hope you enjoy learning along with me.
YOU ARE THE BEST
🙏 glad to have you onboard
Great lesson ! 💜 ( And you don't talk too much to me ! ) But for some reason your sound kept cutting out.
Thank you 🙏 On the practice along sessions, I mute my piano when the timer is on, so that you can practice without being distracted by the playing. The related lessons (on a playlist on my channel) are full explanations with no muting. One lesson to learn, one practice along to play along. Hope that makes sense?!
Hey love the premise of your channel - as a teacher I often wonder at what point people follow my lessons and where they get left behind - or how to determine the appropriate starting point for each lesson. Good luck in your journey, looking forward to following along :)
Thank you so much 🙏 It must be such a tricky balance to strike. Not being too easy that one disengages, but not too difficult that one gives up. I'm having fun so far wrestling with learning then trying to articulate what I'm discovering. It's not perfect, but I'm seeing some good progress 🎹 Thanks for checking it out. I'm going to sub to your channel now.
I think what you are teaching is very clear but you talk too much
Thanks for the feedback. Do you mean for the Practice along sessions, or for the lessons. Or both?
I've started adding timecodes to the videos, so hopefully it'll help navigate to sections more clearly. Especially the exercises in the Practice along videos.
Teaching styles. There is a wide-range of styles for music teachers, filmmakers, composers and conductors. Just saying.
@@PianoPracticePartner Many thanks for this lesson. I just subscribed and look forward to more "motivational" videos.
@@MusicBasics4keyboard509 thank you for the sub 🙂 lots more videos coming your way soon
Wow best piano instructor on TH-cam, I’ve watched a bunch trust me you explain and teach very well for beginners.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that it's working. Being a beginner myself, hopefully this method is helping bridge the gap between being too easy to bother with and too difficult to even understand.
I was just looking this hind of tutorials to guide me thank you so muck im gratefull
