Looks amazing just got into ww kayaking this last year and working my skill up to that exact spot!! Would be stoked to paddle with some local crazies, dont know many kayakers around. Two boats and a yukon so plenty of room for runs!
So was Mike just carrying a torch in his boat? Love the field repair.
Mike hiked out like a boss and met us at the takeout before we got there. We then went back in with another boat, he put it back together then had a fun time getting it out of there.
Nice video. Nice second run. What a difference a foot makes.
Just ran it myself, watching your video was inspiring, watching your lines vs mine, nice paddling
What was your choice of kayak for this run? Looks like a super rad river.
Many different varieties of kayaks are good for this river. I use my river running creeker for this kind of run. I'd imagine it starts to get pretty sporty in a hybrid
Nice line
Rob Mckibbin
I could do some of that, but not all of it. And some of those places looked like great snorkeling.
Been ww kayaking since late 80s... class 2+ and some occasional 3s, in pool drop stuff is enough for me. Amazing how some boaters can continue to ascend to new levels. And like rock climbing, managing the risk is part of the game.
If you hike down the road towards melmont the river is much easier to access
One the PNW's toughest and prettiest sections, but it aint no swimming hole, lol.
I can not believe how much Boulder Drop has changed since I last ran it back around 1990. Even the upper part of the river is full of rock now. Looks like Airplane Turn is long gone in Bolder Drop and the river has eaten out the south side of the river more at Flynn Rock. How come you didn't take out at the RR bridge???? That river can have some huge floods when it does. I can remember seeing a deer carouse in a tree 20 feet + above the river below the highway bridge below the index turn off.
Better hike out off the Highway at the other takeout. Also allows for a better lower body workout as well. This is one of the main reasons why I like to hike up the right side of Boulder when doing laps too
@@PaddleForAPurpose From your video, Bolder and the river have changed so much, it's not the same place anymore. We used to put in below the "water slide" by the fish ladder, and take out under the RR bridge.
Nice run. Never got to do that one. Between OR and WA how many Canyon Creeks, lol? I've run at least one in each state, but there are others.
Seems pretty healthy to me
Absolute Beauty.
Been a bucket list run for too long. Well done!
Good route.
A bit early to do Icicle don't you think????
Sweet video, keep the hits coming, love to meet up with you guys and hit a river, ohh damn that boat got busted, crazy never thought to do on river surgery
When you go over, I can feel the water in my ears like I did long ago. Something you never forget. When you doing the North Fork of the Sky?????
Flows are good for today but I have to get back to work! Have fun and be safe out there!
Any wood issues besides the log jam and those couple pieces that you bumped over?
When in doubt, Scout
What a fun little rhyme
Great content. Hiked Robe canyon a few weeks ago in the rain. This looked like a perfect day to run.
sick. just sick!
Dont yet have the skillz to run this over 2000cfs, thanks for the upload, i know this river so well at lower water, crazy how it changes with 1000+ cfs
I loved it! Thank you. Beautiful. I'm not sure what would be the best flow for that. You were definitely scraping a lot, but much higher water starts to make the fallen wood a problem.
Had a friend who was a class 4+ kayaker and got out at the bottom of "starts with a bang" and never kayaked again,. He was with my other friend Rick Williams that day. Rick loved that river and the Carbon too. When you going to do the North Fork of the Snowqualime?
Stunning nature, beatifull river. nice ^^
Incredible looking place. Clean run too 🤙🏼
Absolutely 💯 amazing beautiful video 📹. Thanks for sharing. Stay blessed and connected.
Great footage. Do you remember the flow that day?
Thank you. Loved it.
Love your content
nice.
Nice Edit, thank you :)
What kind of degree/license do you need to become a boat surgeon (at 6:20)?
Patience with good company
The river is a gem 💎 the same as your channel keep it up
Nice Creek :)
Was there anything in the landing area of the falls?
Hi Brian! Had to push off of some debris on the right side which launched me out of falls and into the pool.
What was the gauge level?
Great video!❤ thanks for sharing!
It sucks being stuck in a Hole. You tell yourself, "I'm going to miss it". THEN.
My buddy Rick Williams was one of the first one's to scout and run that river back in the day. It was a very limited club to have done the Carbon. I never did. I was CHICKEN.
Woaaa nice one
sick video!!
Looks like this would be fun in a raft with 🤏 more water 🙌
Nice work going back for seconds and cleaning it up. 💪
Ep8c, Mad skills, 1 day
By looking back at the bigger drops it gives the viewer a more accurate picture how big they are. I appreciate that.
Nice real nice
Outstanding video
