When You're Emotionally Trigger-Happy
Soooo goood! 🔥 🙏
I am choleric and I completely related to this episode. Understanding that I am prone to "run ahead of the Lord" has been a new and recent discovery for myself in my discernment. I have had to condition myself to wait on the Lord because waiting does not come naturally to me (I am high in strategic and activator on Clifton Strengths). One thing that has helped me is visualizing myself handing over the outcome to God each time I decide to move in a direction. In this way, I'm pausing to respond to his prompts instead of running full steam ahead with an idea of how I think it should go. It gives me this sense that I'm not just waiting, I'm collaborating with my best friend.
These are amazing insights. Have you seen our other podcast on Strengthsfinder in our TH-cam channel? Living in the Virtue of Your Strengths. We get into each of the talent themes there and look at how they can be lived more virtuously.
We left the Catholic Church 14 years ago and have been in the evangelical church, Yes, they do a good job in their Bible studies and their Sunday service teaching scripture thoroughly, our Bible studies are packed. We’re in California. Our churches are full. The comment about being born again is true. The first thing evangelicals do to convert people make sure they’re born again. It’s all about a relationship with Jesus, not rules of religion. I love listening to you two because you speak so well , have so much knowledge and I can tell the Lord has called you to help the Catholic Church! I pray for you too, but the Lord bless you and your endeavors! Keep up the good work!
So much that we can learn from our evangelical brothers and sisters. Thanbk you thank you thank you for the prayers!
There are so many differences between the Catholic religion and the evangelicals. Being born again is the key aspect. Read the Bible as to what being born again means.
Wow, some really insightful points made in this episode.
Well said. I suspect that is very true and many people will never utilize their God given talents.
Recognizing the gifts that other people have has allowed me to appreciate the few talents that I have, and enjoy, and have used to good ends.
& @CatholicSat Follow Pope Francis to children in Singapore: "All religions are paths to reach God. They are-to make a comparison-like different languages, different dialects, to get there. But God is God for everyone. If you start to fight saying 'my religion is more important than yours, mine is true and yours isn't', where will this lead us? There is only one God, and each of us has a language to arrive at God. Some are Sheik, Muslim, Hindu, Christians; they are different ways to God. In all sincerity! I wanted to ask educated Catholics, how can this quote from the pope be true? God bless you all and I do love how gentle and humble your conversations are🙏
He seems like a phlegmatic, she seems like a caloric.
Thank you for these talks. I am a melancholic, as is my oldest (daughter). My middle (D) is Choleric, the baby (son) is Sanguine and Husband is Phlegmatic. We're a whole household! 😂 so I haven't looked into this... and I don't know where your understanding/ beliefs/awareness may be,..... BUT I am tempted to believe that most people with ADHD tend to be either Mel's or Sang's. 😂 Thoughts?? ❤
Super interesting. Erin has ADD and is very Sanguine. Sometimes I wonder if we mistake creativity and non-linear thinking gifts as ADD because they don't fit the traditional linear approach to education. What would it look like if we started seeing ADD is neuro-diversity rather than a pathology?
@metanoiacatholic I agree with this line of thinking and prefer "neuro-diversity" myself. I am ADHD (ADD) (ADD now being technically under the umbrella of 'ADHD'), as is my oldest daughter (the melancholic), and I highly suspect my son (the Sanguine). I didn't discover this or receive a diagnosis until recently at 35. I still haven't even discussed it with my daughter yet, but it is time now. She's 10. And she's starting to feel "different." I think adhd is likely multifaceted and its origin in each person multi-factorial. And it's likely a beautiful 'protectant' to the brain to act as an equalizer or reconciliation for survival of the person, which is an incredible ability of our created being. I know there's aspects of my thinking that I actually LOVE, and there's others that are incredible hindrances (time blindness, always talking/over sharing/ forgetfulness/ big ideas with low execution). Are those just traits that don't fit in rigid expectations our society has created and dubbed as 'normal'? I have no idea 😂 it's definitely a good discussion.
@@laurieblanchard1171 This is Matt. I did another podcast series unpacking the Strengthsfinder talents. In my episode on IDEATION, you can see how this talent can mimic ADHD habits. The group and I also explore how a person with this talent might grow in self-mastery and virtue in it's use. Here's the episode link: th-cam.com/video/EOvFPEs8zlg/w-d-xo.html
I love topics like this!! Thank you both so much ❤️❤️
Hi! I come from spotify because this episode didn’t upload completely there. Love your podcast it helps me grow mentally and spiritually. Greetings from Mexico!
I find that when I worship in Spirit and in Truth , The fire gets lit once again. 🙏🙌
Same. Fills my cup.
Appreciate this video guys, always on time. <3
I'm quite sure I've burned out a few times and I'm only 34.
Yep. The good news is that we aren’t stuck there just waiting for burnout to pass. We can proactively restore and move on from burnout.
Loved this video! Praying for you both, may the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom and creativity. You two are awesome! 😊
When I bring up the temperaments to people it seems like they are interested but I seem to lose their attention. It’s like I need creative ways to talk to them.
I think I get it, but I don't really see how melancholics like me can contribute to a parish mission, especially in cultures that prize extroversion and high-energy personality types
I really wish you guys got more views. Your videos are great and go over some pretty valuable insights for the everyday Catholic.
I was just thinking this!
looking forward for this series <3
Phlegmatic's gossip.
Thank you ❤
I'm a melancholic-phlegmatic. Been waiting for this one!
Maybe the sanguine can feel unsuccessful if they don’t rouse the melancholic. I’m high sanguine and I can feel bummed out when the melancholic doesn’t jump on my energy train😂
I think that's true. As a melancholic, I find that I become really resentful of any attempts to get me to "rah rah" or have "compulsory fun". I actually dig my heels in
Hannaniah was a sanguine. Folks loved hearing his comforting prophecy. Jeremiah the real prophet was a melancholic. 🤷🏼♂️ What can you say? Nothing new under the sun. Stone dem prophets!! Michael said it well: ‘Who is like God?’
This is such a common experience that we coach Sanguines through!
He said podast.
Secular coach isn't gay.
12 years of Catholic schools we say a prayer before the game and one after and that's about the extent of it. Please do not consider this man however well-meaning as an example of a Catholic sports coach.
Thank you for tackling today’s issues while including our temperaments! This is so needed!
I need that distinction. I thought I'm insane for considering it because everyone around is lashing out their sentiments.
Badly needed this
It really seems like you two are like diamonds in the rough! Not enough people are seeing these videos and they are so good!!
Share Share Share please!
That was some great revelations right there 👍❤️
You two are definitely blessed by God to teach this material. How else could I get a hold of your coaching videos if I can’t register on those dates? Will you have them recorded and able to purchase?
We left the catholic Church 13 years ago for a Baptist Church because they teach so much scripture. I really appreciate all your talks! They’re very deep and structured. Thank you for all the work you do to put them together!
Highly recommend the call to coach week!!
I love your content. Keep posting
Yeah! Another temperament video series! I'm married to a 75% Sanguine/25% Chloric and I love him so much! I wish I had all these wonderful vids to watch when I first got married. I did have a book on the temperaments, but it was not a great resource. Your vids and others like them are very informative and help bring grace, understanding, peace and freedom to our relationships.
Very cool. U guys are awesome. Thanks for taking all the care and time to make all the pod casts about the different temperments. My family and I greatly appreciate all your work.❤
I really like you guys. You guys are cool. This is great infornation. I am a melancholy 80% and phlegmatic, so I'm trying to find as much info on my temperament as possible and I'm a Christian like yourselves.
Thank you very much for making this happen. God bless, keep doing what you are doing. From a Pakistani Catholic.🧡
I am phlegmatic my husband is melancholic
Your videos are very good and your editing skills are excellent, but your videos are not reaching many people. The main reason for this is that your videos are not SEO optimized. I am a TH-cam video SEO expert and would like to optimize your videos. Are you interested in this?
I came across this Channel yesterday. It’s very profound and insightful. Keep at it friends. You’re doing well.
Would love the coaching videos.😊
Well done, Matt! Very nicely, simply explained and I love the analogies.
Thank you so much for this! I’m a Catholic melancholic and your podcasts on the subject have been very helpful to start identifying patterns in me that I need to surrender to the Lord and also forgiving myself for them. I’d love more on the subject, like maybe prayer life hacks for each temperament. That would be amazing! Keep up the good work and God bless your ministry and family!
Answer your question, I used to be a big timer controller. I realized that was link to: Being a single mom, having little patience and too much to do. Now, I practicing more awareness, praying more and practicing being more empathetic.
Loved this episode so much!! Listening to it multiple times because it really hits me at my core. I'm one of those people who has 2 or 3 pages of dreams that I write and then put away because I don't think they will all happen. Time to start bringing them to the Lord :D
“Why should I grow in empathy?” Hhmm maybe because God commands us to love others..if you have to have an explained reason to grow in empathy you are in a sad self consumed non Christ like mentality ..
Thank you
