A close look at the features of the Gregory Zulu 40 Liter backpack. I show you why I chose it for a 3 week trip through Europe as my one and only bag and go over everything I fit into it with room to spare.
I go over my solution for traveling with professional photography equipment as well as essentials such as clothing and other items.

Great video review but I can't get past the very loud background noise that competes with your dialog. I that an air conditioner, vacuum cleaner, water running?
You should go for a longer torso length bag. This one is too short for you. Load lifter should be at least higher than your shoulder.
Ale się zdziwiłem jak zobaczyłem polski paszport ale rozumiem „Polish American” 😂😂
That clip on your strap sure makes it easy to steal your camera.
Hi, great tips and tricks to pack light and tight. I appreciate some of the things here may have changed by now but I was wondering what was the total weight? And also what tripod was that one or if there is another travel tripod you would recommend. Thanks for sharing.
I saw this video on youtube on my TV, but am leaving this comment here. Since I also carry my camera gear during hiking/trekking, this turned out to be the best video ever on a backpack that I am surely going to get. Thank you for a detailed backpack, packing, and camera carrying review.
Wow. Amazing packing system. Love how you've got it all packed down and organised so well. I've just ordered the backpack as I'm planning on walking/wildcamping the south downs way (uk) in the summer (COVID 19 permitting). Given me some great ideas. Thanks for sharing! 👍
So many great takeaways for photo traveling here - ty vm
how much
Looks like between $120-150 depending on size/color right now: amzn.to/2LvIkgJ
What tripod did you use? How much does it weigh?
Hey Scott, seems like that model is no longer available, but here is the closest/newest one I can find: amzn.to/2JoF2ZV Check the specs on the page for all size/weight info!
Awesome video, super in depth! What size torso are you? I'm at 18 inches and I don't know if I should go small or medium.
Great video - thanks for sharing.
Awesome video. I love all the hacks you mentioned: air travel pillow, packing cubes, that Osprey hygiene roll-up etc. I bought the Zulu 40 for a Central American backpacking trip, suited me just fine with no issues using it as a carry on. Sometimes I wish that middle access panel had the zippers at the bottom so I wouldn't have to unclip so many things to get access to the panel but whatever. "Shit happens"...lol, good one!
Thank you! This bag is great I love everything about it!
FK...I will be heading down Nicaragua through Colombia for 3 months. I am looking hard at the Zulu 40 as my only bag also. Was it easy to fly with to and from Central America?
Did you ever have any issues using this bag as a carry on?
Nope! I used it on Aer Lingus, Ryan Air, Lot Polish Airlines, Norweigan Airlines, XL Airways France, and Air France with no issues. No one even looked twice at me, even with the tripod strapped to my side. Keep in mind there are still weight restrictions with certain airlines, but I had no issues as far as the size.
Professional
A forty L. pack is perfect for me for day thru a thru-hike size. Excellent pack there.
