How I see it is, Josh is obviously mentally ill. So in his brain he can’t decipher/differentiate between “intentionally” and “unintentionally” To him, his friends pulled a prank that costed his sister’s lives. That’s the whole premise of the game “the butterfly effect” They indirectly killed Hannah and Beth because if they didn’t pull the prank Hannah wouldn’t have ran outside and Beth wouldn’t have charged after her. Just how like Josh unintentionally kills some of the characters (depending on your gameplay) by making them all come back up on the mountain to get revenge. But that’s just how I see it personally. I don’t think Josh was trying to compare what he did vs what they did to his sisters, but rather the affect/effect it was. Which is not even in comparison but again Josh can’t decipher that as he seemed to be in some sort of episode.
