@@jhickox I have spent a little time in that area and it is definitely a difficult place to fish without a boat. I can tell you not to fish by the football stadium. I tried that and was escorted off by police. 😂 lesson learned.

@@jhickox orange lake is up that way. It’s one of the best in the country if you can avoid the grass in your jet ski.

@@FloridaFishStories I mean it's not like you had a Headwaters day there. Just was curious cause it was a cool looking lake with the Cypress and creeks feeding it. Plenty of those in FL. Cheers.

@@vonnick52 yes I believe so. It is the first lock south of the hwy 60 lock. It usually has a big drop but never any issues getting through.

@@FloridaFishStories Thanks sir! Hopefully the water levels stay low below the lock! Makes for much better gator hunting and fishing. Once it gets out of the banks and floods the marshes, gets a lot tougher.

@@allkindsofoutdooractivities lots of the invasive fish are moving north too. I grew up fishing this area and never caught anything but bass until til the last few years.

@@FloridaFishStories that’s true. It’s the same way on the land as well. Sad but true but fun for us sportsman

@@nonamebassin yes or do the opposite. Some days I just wanna fish and not talk to a camera. So I catch a bunch of fish and have no context to go with it. Rarely do I get the best of both worlds. But I do enjoy the process and the ability to connect with others that I wouldn’t if I never picked up a camera. Just trying to get more comfortable and not be afraid to post me. Not just catching fish.

@@FloridaFishStories yea just be yourself heck we are complete nerds when we record but we have fun and people relate I think sometimes people take fishing too serious. And yes I've met some very awesome people from TH-cam and I love to collaborate with new people

@@nonamebassin for sure. I would probably consider myself a hard core tournament angler. But that is the smallest portion of bass fishing. I just enjoy fishing and take a camera with me. Next time you wanna make a Kenansville trip let me know.

10-4 sounds like a plan. How far are you from lake Harris? Open tournament there Saturday

@@nonamebassin I’m about 1.5-2 hrs away I was just there Saturday for a tournament. Caught like 30 fish and still only had 8.5 pounds 😂 still got 7th out of like 25 boats

@@brandoncarmack5416 it’s was a 3/4 ounce tungsten with a punch skirt and flipping hook. I use a punch skirt instead of throwing a jig.

Tbh idk but it worked good for him only fish I know of that you really have to set the hook with is Gar like trying to set a hook in a block of concrete unless you let them eat it then set the hook

When fishing heavy cover we use heavy braid and thick gauge hooks so we can get fish out of the cover quick. It takes more effort than you would think to drive those big hooks in to get a good hold.

Because unless it went through the roof of their mouth a bass stands a good chance of spitting it.

Ya no one seems to pay attention. In Florida you have to have a safety Boater id card if you were born after 1988. But if you were born before that you’re not required to have anything. So anyone can buy a boat and go at it. Without having any common sense to at least pay attention.

@@FloridaFishStories as I'm reading your response, a guy Blasts thru the shallows while Multiple people are fishing. Meanwhile dolphins are training babies in the area and manatees are cruising thru. Daytona to Edgewater is my fishing range. These people are a Real Danger to Everything.

Yes I know. You can see people swimming in the water as the boat goes right by. Idk how someone can think that’s safe regardless of law.

Actually there is a county ordinance in my area that states you can’t be on a plane within 150 feet from shore. Now that can be hard to enforce when proving if the boat was within that range. However I just wish people had common sense to give swimmers more room. Got the whole lake to drive. No reason for them to get that close to swimmers.

@@FloridaFishStories that's good that you have a good county. Also video evidence can't be used sadly for most crimes like this. You can always call your local agency and have your friends also report them 5-10 minutes later. Have about 10 people call in and then they will get out there to catch them and charge them....

I agree on not beating them up to much. This video was only about 2 hrs of fishing. I still shook a lot of fish off but I was trying to see how big of an area I had. I never sat in one spot and beat on them too bad. Check out my next video. It’s from the tournament. I caught over 50 fish and lost a bunch too.

The key that week was working it all the way to the boat. They would always wait until it’s in the open to eat it. I think they would just follow it for a long time before they commit

Ya the rain we get in the summer is the only reason our fish don’t boil in these shallow lakes.

I like to travel to much and fish everywhere. So I like my boat set up for everything. But I do think to many people get caught up trying to keep up with the times. Fishing is supposed to be fun. So fish how ever you like to.
