@@Overonator Yep. Salavge boxes are loot boxes lol. Unless its marked (like the blood asp) its a random mech from the set. I perfer sets so i knkw what im getting but, they cam with the kickstarter and once in a while i will find one marked down at barnes and noble.

@@jamesripley8031 I did not go as much into clan invasion kickstarter. Most of the clan stuff in past vids has been from that kick starter. I did find my plan box a while back so i have a small collection and growing. The clans will play bigger parts in videos. I could not feature them much before because my clan stuff was mia. Now that i have a few stars....

I did not have access to anything after 3055 back in the day. The 3025, 2750, and 3050 were the ones I used on a somewhat regular basis (the only one I owed until the 2000s was 3025 lol.) My box set was 3rd editing. I don't remember the Chameleon in it but I have not pulled out the paperwork for that set in a very long time. Do you remember if the Chameleon was in the 3rd edition box set? I seem to remember the Crockett always being the training mech example.

The BattleTech video game turned me on to it and I've found I like it much better than the standard Cicada.

Sound about right. I am very hit or miss after 3050/3055.

Lol this is what happens when at 12 or so you have to produce something and have never heard it before. Whatever you and your friends decided back then sticks with you 30 years later. For a long time, my friends and I pronounced Protoss Zealots as "Zee-lots". I don't even remember how that got started.

I feel for you man. Catalyst needs to get their stuff together. I don't blame people for being upset. The Clan Invasion kickstarer stuff started showing up in Barnes and Noble before I got mine, this time the Encounters dice game was in Barnes and Noble months before shipping. I'd still pass Catalyst a few buck on Kickstarter even if there were no rewards just because I want to see BattleTech stuff in stores. Hoping you get your stuff early man.

Infantry is not bad to use in Standard BattleTech. Anything that interacts directly with the ground map I get. Once you get into the air battle, strafing run, bombing run, space combat. I tried to run one game and I'm not sure I got it right.

I already filmed opening the salvage boxes so that will be next. The 40 tonners you asked are in different sets. I bumped them up to film in the next two videos. I slid the Box Set opening and the dice game back for you so you get the ones you wanted first. Unless anyone wants to outbid you. ;) I can always be bought. lol.

Finances have to come first. The first Kickstarter I got a much smaller order. I had my good job at the time when I backed this Kickstarter so I splurged. Plus there are some Christmas presents in there for others so its not all ending up in my hands.... only most of it. :) The drama with the first Kickstarter continues. I was one of the ones that did not get their stuff until some of it was in Barnes and Noble. -_- Still I would drop a few dollars to a Battletech Kickstarter even if there were no rewards. The Clan Invasion made it so Walmart had box sets for a while. F'ing WalMart! Sure the Drama sucks and they need to do a better job, plus the whole cannon character idea was a really really really really bad idea that will never be finished. But in th end its fine. BattleTech is being talked about again for the first time (around me anyway) since the late 90s early 2000s! Worth it!

It was about $800 with the insane shipping they charged. I shipped an Arcade 1Up machine for less than the Kickstarter shipping. Over $100 of this stuff is for Christmas presents so that reduced the "cost" some. Oh retirement such a nice dream. I am working toward it but it is a long way off yet. I will get this stuff painted by Battle Report 8,987. I promise. At this rate that should be in the year 2742. Come back to the channel then and see all the painted minis.... maybe before then.

@@jamesripley8031 It can be reverse engineered, so I don't mind sharing. At least I remembered to remove the shipping label with my name and address on it this time. lol. I don't intend to remain as mysterious as Tex. I will show my face at some point. I just want to get everything paid off, a good cash reserve, and some job security before I do and then forced to sign another contract saying I cannot make any social media posts. I hate HR departments with nothing better to do. 👎

@@DreamMadeProductions you actually work or worked for a place that doesn't want you doing social media videos that have probably nothing to do with your work? You use the term 1U up above, so I assume you're in IT.

@@DreamMadeProductions let's see... I'm not an expert in horror by any means, so even if I can pick them out I doubt I'll have the right names. There's the horror of war, to be sure - the people are pretty sure the enemy is a big danger. And there's the horror of madness - they run into the one guy early on and it's an unsettling thing. I felt like there was horror in what the guy said - the corruption of the notion of home - that home was being used against the soldiers.. home, the one thing they all hold dear.. so I think that's one. I think I'm up to three? There's some body horror in there, too, with how the creature uses the victims' bodies for her own end. And I felt like the ending was its own kind of horror, too. The horror of a terrible cycle repeating, and the victims don't even know that they're walking into this refined cycle that has been particularly tuned to draw them in and take them. How did I do?

@jamesripley8031 Got them all. The horror of being hunted. The primal fear of not being the top pf the food chain. There is the cold horror of the war. Command on both sides views the hill as more important than the lives of the solders. They are too busy with their own war than to break the cycle, and so they each keep just paying the "small" butcher's bill of losing a squad there and there. There is the theme of madness. The story ends as it begins. A solder driven mad by a force he does not understand and was not trained to fight. Schmidt died, was it the monster or his own hand as relief was feet away? There is also the knowlege of the creature being "natrual" it is an animal. It has no malice, you cant write if off as evil. Its eating and it just so happens we are yummy. Plus like all animals it will reproduce, so sooner or later. The crupition of home is a good observation. It can be a fifth horror. The song itself is preying on all solders desire to be home. All humans desire really. Large cats lions and tigers willnsometimes mimic the sounds pf prey animals. You can find videos on youtube. The song was written with this in mind. What if such an animal mimiced us? I am glad you enjoyed the story. I have next years story ratteling around in my head already.

@@jamesripley8031 You should paint up a few Black Knghts yourself. Gloss black with gloss yellow or matalic gold. I still wish i could do all the cool jeweling and those ink baths that pop the details but one of these days ill take a class or something.

@@DreamMadeProductions I have a black and yellow force already. Well, more properly.. yellow and black. They have a more equal amount of each color than the BKL. I do still have plenty of yellow primer, maybe I should give it a go :P The black and yellow force is a custom merc company I made up. Called them The Yellowjackets. Super inspired name for a yellow and black force, I know! And totally has nothing to do with The Killer Bees. When I assembled the force, I had six Star-League era 'mechs, plus enough to fill out a company. So I figure, the core of this outfit is a Level II of ComGuards that became disenfranchised with all of their faction's back room dealing and subterfuge. So, they took their slick rides, and went rogue. They stopped at Galatea or Outreach or wherever, made a half dozen hires, re-organized into a company of 3 lances, and now they're guns for hire in between dodging ComGuard hit squads sent to repossess their hardware.

You know i tried that and it made the white very streaky. Just adding a drop or two seemed to break down the craftsmart. The folkart and appleberrel does a much better job. I just threw out almost all the craftsmart paints they just rob too much detail.

@@EdmondHiggins I have played in games in Fedcom civil war and one game in Jahad. I spend a lot of time lookikg stuff up and having no idea what the mechs are or what they can do lol.

@@Overonator in the fiction. At least in The military atlas book, this stuff could be in a novel or short story somewhere. This battle was like two sentences. Canon was that Ridzick encountered two feathers. They had a duel. Ridzick had an orion twofeathers a marauder. Early in the duel twofeathers took a missle hit to the leg slowing her mech. Ridzick won twofeathers died. Thats like all the details that were given. I looked and could not find which model of orion or marauder they used. It just says orion and marauder. So i thought is have fun and play the weird cappie marauder and throw ridzick a bunch of the 3039 prototype stuff. Although i did resist the urge to put a binary laser on there.

I hope it was worth the wait. Got absolutely nothing done this weekend because I'm a dumbass and got sidetracked. Man, I hope one of these days to cut back to just TH-cam and part time job. Is there a cannon origin for Ridzick's Orion? I couldn't find one. In cannon I just know he piloted an Orion I couldn't find any stats for anything so the whole Prototype thing is my creation. I figured it makes sense since he launched a whole invasion just because he heard a rumor there might be some kind of lostech at the old BC Plant on Procyon. Figured it was a reward when he left the Cappies and formed the whole Tikonov Free Republic. Alex gave him the Orion sometime before the invasion. Could have been when they were still talking. Hell if nothing else Suns could have put Alex's return address on the 30-foot crate the thing came in. LOL. "To Ridzik, From Mallory, Do No Open Until XMas"

@@jamesripley8031 Lol. This was a cursed game. Two zombie draws when searching the first two times and out of 5 searches only one weapon. Plus the number of misses rolled. Oh well. Thats how the game rolls. On to battletech battlereport.

You should never let anything rule your life or cause you to be steal or cheat people just to have more of it. For most people video games are a great hobby and fun activity. Whenever someone tells me I should grow up and be responsible. That I should start having 'adult hobbies' my reply is always "Let's compare the deaths and injuries associated with video games compared to drunk driving or sports now who has the irresponsible hobbies?" that is normally enough to shut them up.

@@DreamMadeProductions I have a severe distaste for painting yellow :P The yellow came out fantastic on your Black Knights, though! Maybe I just have terrible yellow paint. My current projects are a star of Jade Falcon vehicles, and a company of Hansen's Roughriders. I hear they're painted blue these days, but I'm going old school and painting them in shades of brown.

I gave that a try and it looks pretty good. I think if I find another LAM I'll give it the white A6M Zero treatment and compare.

@@Overonator Its hard to say. The clicktech mechwarrior game had this and the minis looked good. On the other hand it would drive up costs. We dont want battletech to become as expensive as warhammer or other costly games. Maybe you have painted minis in the starter box (maybe the full box set) and one painted mini per lance/star pack. That would keep costs down while still giving both types of players a little of what they want. Having bulk minis for painting would also be a good idea i think. Say 50 random minis unpainted in minium packaging for $80 or $100. Or premium mini packs that cost a lot more but all the minis are painted. There are a lot of things that can be done.

@@Overonator Currently in production? The Fantasy Flight Star Wars Xwing/Armada/Legion games. The Star Terk Attack wing and D&D dragon strike. Im not sure of any of the Axis and Allies minis games are still on pegs. I know war at sea had some nice prepainted minis but that game ended years ago. I am sure there are others.

@@DreamMadeProductions How is painting those at scale accomplished? I doubt they have a sweatshop full of workers that are individually painting the minis.

@@Overonator Thats more out of my wheel house. Sometimes they do have people sitting around with templates and air brushes. Othertimes its machine sprayers. Spectrum Creative (Ive had comments chats with him in the past) would be a good channel to ask. He worked at mattel for many years on He-Man and other mass toy production. Catalyst posted those videos of the BT production lines for Kickstarter. Maybe they could be sweet talked into one showing how minis are mass painted.

@@EdmondHiggins I compare my minis to what ive seen other people do and get too critical. Ive been trying to cut back and take time to paint and make the models look better. It also helps stress to just sit there and listen to music or the news or documentories.

@@Overonator Exosquad was super cool. The toys were neat and they had a robotech exosquad crossover toy line which was amazing for battletech warhammers and rilfeman.

While dull standard military schemes may be more realistic, the old books treated mechwarriors like medieval knights. Having fancy colors helped tell the enemy who you are to bring down morale or... if captured that you were worth keeping alive for the ransom. I think you will enjoy some upcoming videos with the new paint jobs.

@@kathilmechworks4895 I dont have a rattler but ive handled on a few times and it is a cool toy. Hasbro out a lot of play features on their toys and the rattler has a lot. Sounds like you have a nice airforce there. The Night Raven is a big toy and with its pod it is kind of two for one.

@DreamMadeProductions toy of the year for 1985. I bought it for 12 bucks, restored it, and eventually sold it for 90. I loved it but it and the phantom took up the top of a book shelf each. They don't make them like that anymore even though I believe they did a redo of the rattler and conquest back around 2006 2008

@@kathilmechworks4895 Those molds have been around for years. They were still using 80s toy mods in the 2010s for stuff. I still hope one day GI Joe really comes back one day.

@@WolfHreda The AC5 is a very much ok weapon. Personally i find myself wanting to downgrade to am AC2 for more tonnage and longer range or up to an AC10 for that hard hit.

Improved Jump Jets can let you get away with some truly BS movement. I normally stick to Star League to Clan Invasion, but I have fired up some improved jump jets. They can get out of hand real fast. Slap some Improved Jump Jets on that Victor and leap in with an LB20X holy crap.

It is hard to match a good PPC. The clan ER PPC is just a beast.

The Gauss is a game changer. Before it your only real chance for a one-shot head kill was the AC20. Now even clan mechs have to worry about peaking their head out. It is just mean.

Adding inferno SRMs changes the game. The flamer is a great weapon but just can't do enough heat to really lock down a mech. Those inferno hits though... you can get ammo explosion kills sometimes.

The AC2 is not going to win you any games but people underestimate it. It can add up if you get a Blackjack or Jagermech sitting back pounding away for several turns. There is always that chance at a through armor critical or crit seeking if that armor gets opened up. Similarly with light mech engagements, that blackjack is not going to move like the Phoenix Hawk, but two AC2s and the lasers mean that the Wasp and Stingers have to be careful no matter where they are.

It is the weapon all others are measured against.
