Aluminum Extruders Council
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 20 พ.ค. 2013
The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) is an international association dedicated to advancing the effective use of aluminum extrusion in North America. AEC is committed to bringing comprehensive information about extrusion's characteristics, applications, environmental benefits, design and technology to users, product designers, engineers and the academic community. Further, AEC is focused on enhancing the ability of its members to meet the emerging demands of the market through sharing knowledge and best practices.
Aluminum Extrusion: The circular economy - A Sustainable Future
In this episode of ShapeMakers, Lynn Brown and Rue Rogers discuss the intersection of aluminum extrusion and the circular economy. They explore how aluminum can be recycled effectively, the importance of maintaining materials in circulation, and the role of scrap in the industry. The conversation highlights the sustainability initiatives within the aluminum extrusion sector and the potential for increased recycling efforts.
Takeaways
The circular economy aims to keep materials in circulation indefinitely. Aluminum has a high recycling rate, with 75% still in use today. Recycling aluminum does not degrade its properties, allowing for high-quality applications. Aluminum can be used over and over without any degradation of properties. The industry uses a mix of virgin and recycled aluminum, typically around 25% virgin and 75% scrap. Recycled aluminum billet can be used just like billet made from prime or virgin aluminum; it does not need to be downgraded to be used in lower performance applications because of its scrap content like other materials. Post-consumer scrap includes materials from product end-of-life, such as old windows and doors, wheels, wire and other building components. Anodized aluminum can be recycled similarly to unfinished aluminum, while painted aluminum poses challenges. The infrastructure for collecting and processing aluminum scrap is well-established in North America. There is potential to increase the use of post-consumer scrap in the industry. Aluminum's corrosion resistance contributes to its long lifespan in applications. The aluminum extrusion industry is actively working on improving recycling processes. Thanks, Ive been in the business a long time.... I'm looking for that 'promotion' and these videos are definitely filling in the gaps of my current understanding.
appreciate the information, I'm new to the xtrusion process and wanting to learn more.
Thanks, It sis very informative
seems crazy expensive for what you get and it's fairly heavy as well.
Always clever but always unrealistically overpriced!
There is one thing wrong in this design. The toilet should also be a slider. Nobody want's a smelly toilet inside a camper. No matter how vacuum seal it is. Once you open it, it will seep through. And is it a shower also? It should slide out and be separate from the interior. Doing this will provide more space inside.
This thing is listed as starting at $69k on their site....I can't imagine they will sell any for that, you can get an airstream for less.
I don't think Airstream and Sylvan are trying to hit the same camping demographic. Our family is full of RV and Primitive campers and we all want something that fits our lifestyle. The ability to store kayaks and bicycles (like heavier ebikes), have indoor/outdoor kitchen, wetbath/toilet and ability to comfortably sleep a family and be easily towable really hits the spot for a lot of people. Sylvan, like airstream, makes a quality product.
Nice
Very useful webinar. Thank you a lot.
It is over $50,000, modified box trailer.
With such prices, it looks like DIY modifications of box trailers are a thing again?
Regarding slide 47 (Time: 44:20), I think you got the legend colors backwards for the base and filler. Please correct me if I am wrong. Very good seminar.
pls share me soft copy and price also
Can I get soft copy of this seminar
It should be available on the website or if you just need the data that is available in the free to download manual mentioned in the video
I like the beds but I wish there was more space for bikes. Sleeps 4, needs space for 4 bikes. Would love to see one in person
SylvanSport makes well engineered products but this looks like an overpriced green box.
great video , Thanks for bendinf profile do you have any suggestions? like for those lightbars
What would happen if the tooling die is heated above the recoomended temperature?
Hardness will be increased so would be brittleness
Thank you!
Very helpful, thanks!
