The remake is overproduced, agenda driven garbage with so much added bs that isnt in the original story for good reason. The 1975 movie was so simple and eerie. The atmosphere was great and they did not try to squeeze something out of the source material that wasnt there.
I definitely wish they made the show more haunting. Some subplots felt sort of random at times, but there were some new things that I liked. The book and 1975 film made it seem like the girls' disappearance wasn't planned and that something had gone horribly wrong. The show went with the voluntary disappearance/run away angle, which doesn't feel as eerie to me. Costumes were beautiful though!
