    Your cobblestone road looks good, although I would intersperse ingot pieces in other colors like dark tan, olive green, light bluish grey, etc … I would also remove some of the ingots and replace them with the quarter circle tiles and single tiles or even use trans dark brown tiles for along the curb like there is standing water. You don’t have to go crazy, but small little derivations will improve the overall look for little effort

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oh wow that sounds amazing, I think if I were making it a much older road perhaps in disrepair I'd do something like that. I got a good deal on the dark grey ingots, so thats why i used them all, but in future i think i will intersperse them with other colours especially olive and sand blue if they do them in sand blue. I will be adding a separate curb and drainage along the edge on the baseplate, so it will look more finished. Good ideas though, really appreciate the thoughts, definitely something i'll revisit once i've got the bulk of the front area finished. My plan is to get a basic sort of complete look done, and then revisit areas and add more detail, so it's an ongoing project, but....at any one time it will kinda look finished and presentable.

    The sets should have included some regular 1x1 and 1x4 plates so the designs could be more three dimensional. They really limited their potential audience by only including tiles, and no pieces that could be useful for regular LEGO building.

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes quite agree, 1x1 plates available in a variety of colours alongside the tiles would have been fantastic, probably have put the price up too much with an increase in part count etc, but it would have been cool. They could have done more 3d art style sets with 1x1 plates like you say. But they were all in on that crafting market of 7-12 yr girls. I use tiles all the time, so I love the sets and still pick them up when I see them, especially for the corner tiles in various colours

    Regarding the last train layout, you're spot on. The guy who built it (Block junction) deliberately wanted it to look very model rail esque and I gotta say he's pulled it off well. The train running was mine as I was getting a bit daft and trying to run a very long train..... It didn't work, lol. The InterCity 125 set belongs to Breckland Bricks, and it's a gorgeous (but noisy) runner.

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He did a great job. I will eventually be putting ballast on my own very short train layout and I think i might do a similar technique as it really looks realistic. Just parts intensive but hey its for the long term, so a good investment for something to look so good, it'll be worth it. I loved that long train though, you don't often see very long trains running on folks layouts because they usually don't have space, so to see such a long train running on a layout in person was a real treat. All the carriages and wagons were so well done, love all the livery and signage, great job by everyone concerned 😊

    How big is your Lego city?

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I went for a rectangular city layout. It's planned around 48x48 grey baseplates. It's 6 baseplates long x4 baseplates wide. Roughly 7.5ft long to 4ft wide. That way I can reach into the middle of it and move stuff around etc

    • @Simpsons99Gaming
      @Simpsons99Gaming 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BflyBricks thanks for responding. My city I am building will be around same size . You mils plating those 48x48 baseplates? Parts are expensive!

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Simpsons99Gaming yeah it's a good size, I do actually have more space but I just think it'll be annoying to do it larger. I also intend on taking it to brick convention's so it needs to be semi modular and not too big for that to be possible. I'm definitely not doing Mils on anything. Waste of parts for me. I'm happy with the new style Lego road plates and I'm building some stuff directly onto baseplates but I'll be putting cardboard under my modulars so they are a bit higher. I'll be doing a video on it when the time comes. It's exciting doing a city isn't it? Planning and stuff just takes over your thoughts ha ha, I'm thinking about Lego all the time 😄

    • @BflyBricks

      OSB board should be pretty sturdy, i've glued a decent sized piece of plywood underneath so that's also giving it support, and then i've doubled up on top with MDF, so the two layers make it strong. For sure it can be warped at a thinner thickness, hopefully my 18mm stuff does alright, time will tell ☺

    • @BflyBricks
      @BflyBricks หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yeah mate, such a cool car, the whole aesthetic of the road warrior was just so far ahead of its time and the vehicle designs were awesome, a huge step up from the first movie. I'm looking forward to the new movie, the old interceptor is so iconic I hope we see a version of it. Yeah I have some pirates net pieces which I could use, I never had any of the monsters stuff.
