Golden and Silver Falls Hike Guide | Coos Bay, Oregon
This is a lovely trail. I hiked it once before the fire. It's interesting to see what is like now. I remember a tiger lily that was taller than me near the falls. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Wonderful
A two day overnight trip would be a little more strenuous but certainly doable. An A-type personality in great shape.could do it in one day with a small day pack and without too much trouble.
Nice coverage. A few areas have huge mosquito populations at certain times.
The scenery, trail and falls are lovely - thanks! But...isn't there access to the river itself, in case you want to take a dip or just cool your heels???
There may be some good river access spots in the area, but of the spots I featured here, Lucia falls park has the best looking places to access the water, however there are many signs saying to stay out of the water there.
No Sunset Falls?
That one might get it's own video 😄 Gotta go back there and do Bells Mountain too after the Moulton Bridge maintenance is done.
@@PacificNorthwestTrailGuide Please do Hantwick as well
Was at Lucia Falls this past June and saw salmon jumping into the falls
thanks!
Beautiful! This is really helpful! I'll definitely check out more of your videos 😊
I guess we can see it from the view point in the end to the parking lot. Who are too weak to hike. Let us know?
Hard for me to judge who is too weak or not. You can always try it out and turn back if it gets too hard.
Hey guys!!! Beautiful video... can you tell me exactly how long is the hike? Do you get tired. Guess we can take breaks???
Hi! It all depends how fast you go, but probably around 2 hours. Breaks can be good :-) there are a few benches along the way.
Thanks Paul!
Great video, did this hike in May along with all the others up the gorge. Just start recording my hikes and your video's gave me some great idea's! Very well done.
Most people shorten the hike by starting at forest road 8100 before the Horse Camp. Go to 6:20 to see the hike starting from here.
More Mt. Hood area videos please!
Stunning visuals! The landscapes are so beautifully shot. Can’t wait to see more! 👍10
I’m so thankful for this channel!!!!!!
Strawberry Mountains Forever
I see what you did there ;-)
I wonder if there is mushroom foraging allowed there. That’s a perfect habitat for fall mushrooms.
As an Oregon State Natural Area, it should fall under the general regulations of max 5 gallons per person per day for personal consumption. There wasn't any special rules posted when I visited.
@@PacificNorthwestTrailGuide that’s awesome
This looks like a fun loop. Glad to see the route is unaffected by the Boulder Lake Fire of 2023 which burned all around Little Boulder Lake not Boulder Lake proper. Very helpful and well done guide! Thank you!
Great video! I would like to know the exact month (early, mid or late) of your visit for my research notes. Surprised to see not a single hiker on the trail besides you. Thanks!
Hey! sure, no problem, this trip was September 16-19
I hiked extensively in this wilderness in the 80s and 90s. You caught every bit of its beauty. I once spent the night atop Lookout Mountain. What a lovely night it was. Thank you for helping me experience those memories!
I understand those Amanita Muscaria mushrooms have certain magical properties
Great video, thanks!
Curious about the continuation North of the Elk Meadows trail, for backpacking. Ever explored that area?
I have not, but there looks to be plenty of camps up there, would probably be a great trip. My next video will be about backpacking in Badger Creek Wilderness just on the other side of HWY 35 in that area though.
Just did this today with my boys. Lovely spot. Next time, we'll bring water-resistant footwear. Those exposed roots formed pools and there was lots of mud. No regrets through. - Great trip report, BTW. Thank you! (hand prayer thingy)
It's a muddy one for sure! Thanks for sharing.
Just did this trip! would not recommend going in late July. Mosquitos were very bad at every point, even at the highest points. The sun was hot with all the exposure and sadly it was very smokey due to Falls Fire approaching the area. Would recommend doing this trail, looking forward to trying this trail in the later season. Its very hard (lots of climbing) but good fun.
Thanks for sharing your experience, can definitely be a tough one to time. I had to cancel my first attempt to go there due to nearby forest fires many years back.
Ok but what about the caves??
Absolutely gorgeous video my friend! 👏👏
Thanks to your video, I recently got to check out these trails and they are such beautiful hidden gems! Got so lucky to see so much water flow and 100% recommend!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍3
Love that place, nice video!
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍6
my favorite kind of backpacking...good old forest and lots of water. Thanks, I'm not far from this area and may head up there tomorrow
Amazing place. Great video. Thanks for sharing. 👍5
😂😂😂😂😂😂 live in the area 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for this video of an extended hike!
A quiet, lovely walk! It's nice that there is a bench or two along the way to sit and enjoy the peace. I would hope that part of the "restoration" of this former logging site includes the reintroduction of native trees to provide habitat diversity for birds and animals that formerly inhabited this area.
Very nice to discover this trail guide series. In the first 2/3 - 3/4 of this one, however, the color is very pale and washed out and you don't get to see the beautiful greenery until the very end.
Thanks, this is an interesting and informative series!. However, there were no close shots of Little Strawberry Lake and one cannot tell how far the campsites are from the lake???
Yeah, I see what you mean, sorry about that! It actually varies a little bit. The first group of campsites shown are set back more from the lake, probably 2 or 3 hundred feet. Then after you cross the little creek flowing out from the lake, those few sites after that are closer, more like 100 feet back from the lake, you can see the lake from the campsites over the buses there, i just didn't catch it well in the video. Also, the one site I show at the end is kind of a secluded one that is on a little hill farther from the lake.
Wow, what a beautiful hike man! This was outstanding presentation!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. 👍13
looks like a dope trail! thanks buddo :)
Just a few years ago, there used to be an upper viewing deck and a hidden user trail to the bottom. The deck was removed after a fatality and the user trail has been usurped into the new trail to the base of the falls that you followed. I remember gripping that rock wall all the way down the slick mud back when it was only a user trail. People had sketchy ropes secured to lower yourself by but I never touched them. Glad to see there's a safer way now. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for sharing this! So interesting to hear how things have changed over the years.
I appreciate the time and consideration you give to these videos, they're very instructive in deciding what trails to try.
Amazing waterfall❤
I just learned of this adventure. Thanks for posting a video overview of it all! Very helpful and appreciated!
Nice video. Thank you for sharing. 👍14
It's better to hike it from south to North because then you get past the worst tidally locked spot on the first day after that it's a breeze
love these not-so-well-known destination trails you're finding, another great vid, thanks!
