Curiosity not Judgement Episode 124: Feedback
What do you do with the feedback you receive? Sometimes, it comes as noise, and we simply can't process it. Other times, we may have to filter it through the intention of the giver. Lots to think about, and process! All these voices are starting to sound a little like a Disney movie that was recently released. . .

Great thoughts, Birga! I resonate with the discussion on several levels. As a consumer, I too am experiencing survey fatigue. I used to ask google all the questions but now google asks ME all the questions! How was this shopping experience? Did the directions get you where you wanted to go? Do you know if there is covered parking at this business, etc. On another level, our church is trying to determine if we are meeting the needs of our congregation through small groups, so I and a team have developed a questionnaire to determine the answer to the question, but we have really wrestled with asking effective questions and not asking too many questions so that we get a healthy participation in the survey. I look forward to more discussion on this topic!

Thanks, Jeff! I love that you guys are being intentional to see if you are meeting the needs of the congregation. Please do let us know how that surveying goes!

Great discussion! Glad my comment from last week sparked more discussion. It occurred to me after the fact that my comment was born more out of judgment of our society than curiosity. I guess if I were to rephrase the comment it would sound more like “I wonder how our society will use real intelligence to navigate the uncertainty and creativity of artificial intelligence?” I sincerely appreciate your curious approach to these relevant topics!

Appreciate the thoughtful comment and "redirect". This shows curious thinking. The ultimate question is "How should we use RI to moderate AI?" "Can we use RI to regulate AI? "Should we use RI to regulate AI?" You get the point. Gary

We need RI, Real Intelligence, to design and enforce guardrails for AI, and I am more concerned about the lack of real intelligence in society than I am fearful of AI 😊 Great discussion!

Great discussion, thank you both! It might be worth taking time to discuss how to build your inner circle if you don't have one. One of my goals for the new year is to deepen some relationships and you have helped me with that, thanks!

Jeff, I love this! Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. Several of us from the FCCI city team just met and decided "depth, not breadth" was the theme for 2024! So many of are feeling spread thin. It's time to dig deeper with the relationships that have been placed in front of us to nurture.

I have discovered, a better conversation occurs when I focus on earnestly learning how we differ in opinion as opposed to proving a point.

I’ve decided to stop the excessive consumption of products associated with these holidays. I think the pressure to buy 💸💸 at “sales” is a trigger for people in sobriety. Especially when saving money is a top priority. We worry about how others may feel about us if we can’t give an expensive new gift.

This really resonated with me because I’m reading a book called Holy Moments by Matthew Kelly. It is the same idea but talks about how in each moment we have a choice between making it a holy moment or an unholy moment by showing kindness in every interaction. The small kindnesses have a ripple affect.

I don’t know why this showed up on my feed but thank you for sharing your experience. The most difficult part when my dad had cancer many years ago was not knowing what to do to help. You just want to make things better. Your wisdom is a blessing.
