Tip for the sound wall: Instead of adding all the sounds at once, gradually introduce them as you learn throughout the year. Also, consider using the large wall by the sink for the vowel valley-it's much more spacious.

Such an amazing room. You could also put some of the cute fluffy library pillows into your calm down spot. Favorite color is pink, like any pink/rose brown combos really. I am starting my teaching this September. In Germany it is called "Referendariat" which is probably student teaching?

Use the clear packing tape on the spines of all your paperback and soft cover books. It will help them to last longer. It is okay not to have all of the sound cards up at one time. You could use a couple and add them on the wall throughout the academic year to show your students how many sounds they have learned over time. You were extremely blessed that Office Depot gave you supplies. Take care, and thank you for your video presentation.

Why does your classroom have to be cute ? Ours were sparse. Empty walls except maybe a print of the queen or the Group of Seven?Oh right, I forgot. You have to entertain the kids. We were not there to be entertained. We were there to LEARN!. Sigh!!How things have changed!!!!

I am starting my 25th year of teaching sixth grade.

I just retired after many years of teaching. I taught preschool through second grade. Instead of having different jobs for each student, their favorite thing by far, every year, was when I did Helper of the Day. They got to choose their own POINTER (I had many different pointers to choose from) and they got to help with all of the activities throughout the day (paper passing, etc.). We rotated and the kiddos always knew when it was their turn to be the Helper of the Day :)

This is my 30th year of teaching kindergarten. My favorite classroom supply is my doorbell. It is a quick easy way to get all kids attention.if I could travel anywhere it would be to Italy. Your room is coming together!

I have been teaching for 31 years and begin year 32 in August. It looks like you are missing a digit on your number 11 on the wall. Check with your administrators about the small refrigerator because of the Williams Facility rules. I do like the title Germ Police that you have. Don't worry about not having a lot on the wall. It can be calming to not have a ton of things on the wall. Also, you will want to leave a space to hang things once you begin working with kids. :)

I think the bulletin board is an aquired skill. I remember my first year it took me a long time too!

Don't stress yourself with having not enough on the walls. The most important in the classroom for your students is having you in there to teach them. Every other decor and material is an added bonus.

Your calendar begins with Monday. This is the Spanish way. All calendars in Spanish speaking countries begin with Monday. I am used to that system because I am Cuban, but in the US the fist day on a calendar for some reason is Sunday.

What does having a k/1 combo entail?? Are you teaching K content to the kinders & then 1st content to the 1st graders?? Or are they on the same level? Sorry, we don’t have that in my state!!😆 I’m curious !!

also a teacher in socal, going into my 2nd year 👋🏼 i'm not sure if this is right, but I heard that fabric bulletins don't pass fire code and there is a requirement for decorations to be 24" below the ceiling from the fire marshall & maybe Williams Complaint? I'm not sure 😅

You’re doing an amazing job and blessed to witness the progress! 1st grade teacher here and loving your vlogs! ❤Little tip when laminating small pieces you can put a piece of double sided tape or glue to the back of the piece and then stick to the laminating sheet to prevent from moving around. 💙 I also use a ten frame to track the days of school. I just fill in each day with a dry erase marker during calendar time. 💜 Your room is coming along and loving the vibe! Excited for your next vlog! Keep up the great work!

Your classroom is beautiful! Looking forward to future teaching vlogs especially with a kinder/first combo class. I've taught preschool through second and kinders are so needy. It will be interesting to see how a combo class works.

laminating hack for you for laminating small pieces without them moving. get a glue stick and put a little dot of glue on the back of the pieces you are laminating so it sticks to the lamination and won't move around while you are laminating. Love the classroom set up. Best of luck to you!
