It's not a mutiny when the officers are doing it. Mutiny is when the crew revolt against proper authority. When the officers disregard their orders It's called barrotry.
Born in 1946 and raised in San Francisco. When I was young the family would sometimes take day trips to Santa Cruz to the beach and boardwalk. While there, we would see a very large wooden speed boat with a nice wooden deck with four or five cockpits of seats, taking people for a fast ride on the ocean just off shore. I remember being told that the boat was a converted PT boat. Don’t know if this was true or not, but it was fast and loud like a PT boat.
Why are 90% of comments about Clancy's book/film, fictional characters, and the rest about the history channel, rather than the real life Valery Sablin? So much shallowness.
Took the photos of a PT BOAT that washed up on shore at Inchon Island, South Korea 1964. Boat had been stripped but somehow, after a storm, it floated to our sea wall, the toliet was made out of red brick, guess for stability. The next day by itself, it Floated Out to sea. A real Ghost.
So, if Sablin was going against the corrupt "fat cats" at the top, it sounds like he was actually a very *good* man! Sounds like he had the right set of values. I'm sure he loved his country but he just wanted to get it run by some decent people, not the corrupt kleptocrats - the kind of people who run present-day Russia.

My grandpa worked at Higgins boat yard during the war. He lived about 30 miles away. My dad says he was picked up bus dropped at the train to get there. He was born in 1899 and i was 9 when he passed. Man be nice to talk to him again.
Everyone needs to watch this. Tom was a gift from God. His writing and ability to create a fictional work that was actually reality will live forever! RIP Mr. Clancy!
After the sinking of the Kursk, Russia wasn't even capable to raise the wreck and give her mariners a descent grave. They had to hire a Dutch salvage company.....Corrupt fuckupps.
15:38 - so, that statement puts a question mark on that other statements of russia, that the feel threatened by nato etc etc. Russia has still the biggest nuclear arsenal, still it always feels threatened. I think, its something else...
This russian joke always comes to mind: what weighs 200 tons, uses 10 tons of diesel per hour and cuts an apple in three? A russian made machine designed to cut an apple in four…..
Think I’d rather go straight back out to sea than turn up at home with graffiti on the wall outside your apartment and a screaming woman inside. Most British officers come home to a thatched cottage, country pub with real ales and a sports car. We don’t know how lucky we are.
CO Captain Alexander Bogachev passed away 2015, age 59. He was a champion between commanding officers of all SSBNs and on the TK-20 «Severstal. May he Rest In Peace.
This guy lost his mind. He put his foolish ideas ahead of the safety and security of the people onboard the ship. Doesnt he have an obligation to them? Also, great job by Firsov to get out and avoid being a hostsge.
Only thing that disappointed me about this sub doc, is my favorite Russian sub is not black and polished chrome with cool lighting. At least they have a bald Sean Connery. Haha.
very secret base that does not appear on any map of Russia.. meanwhile Google.. LOL

They get professors wanting their 15 minutes of fame to say anything
Whenever I hear words like clear or clearly I am immediately skeptical
I could barely watch this because of the totally ridiculous irritating music!! Omg!!

They had such a sad ending. Like they couldnt have just sold them or left them in the Philippines.

And drive a pick up truck while eating rabbit stew.
Clancy's speech must be heard in today's universities and public schools.
I've never seen this before.. thank you
The bumper music in the background during the narrative is bloody irritating. Why must sound engineers not be satisfied with just the human voice?
Hope this helps Sweden, I love you

Any time an Akula left its home port it was probably being followed by a U.S. submarine.
One wonders if Lt. Cmdr. Buckley was Tim Conway's father. There appears to be a strong resemblance there.

18:06 By then there was a 688 behind him.

Hard core bloody fighting battles. Serious men saved the country.

That British, Royal Navy convoy looks suspiciously like a single Russian Rapucha class ship...
The bread will keep just in the fridge due to it being mainly vodka...
