Are you going to do it again this year?
Will it hold 3 grown adults on it?
They r so big and extremely heavy i know because i had to move it all by myself lol
The felt of a new table is too slow it's not giving me nuts anything I can do you know about please tell me
Good morning. Can you advise me on the maximum temperature for ironing a cloth that has a high pile so that the balls can slide more easily? Thank you
Hi Dria, thanks for your question. If you could email Joe our sales manager on joe@libertygames.co.uk and he can give you all the information you need. Thanks so much! :)
When you have mdf and it warped. Can you replace it with stone slate?
Hi there, unfortunately you can't. The construction of an MDF bed pool table differs from that of a slate bed table, and the stone slate would be too heavy for the MDF table to support. Hope that helps, thanks for your question!
This was very informative; I appreciated this.
Just find a valley coin op in good condition...everything is replaceable on those...8 x 4 or 7 x 4...depends on the room you have to play in...then go find a deal on one.
so no playing differences? Maybe I'm worried sitting on it, as it has less structural strength
Ummm why are you sitting on it? Is that a dining table function or pool table function? Confused.
i mean on applying pressure with body on shots@@billbenkart2748
I find th english tables more easier then the american tables, plus the american game is more fun with different games, nine ball is a massive game around the world!! English pool is not, snooker yes pool no!! I remember the first time i walk into a snooker center in my area with a mate and he said we were playing english pool i couldn't stop laughing as it felt as if i was playing on the little kids tables!! and after a few game's it got boring with just red and yellow playing 8 ball!! but lets face it, Americans well favor their game and english will favor their game, it's just what we grew up with! besides if we pool players wanted a challenge we would be playing snooker!!
There’s a big misconception of what people think when comparing them. The fact is that EU tables smaller in size compared to American when comparing say a 6’ to 9’ the balls are running 50% longer on average. On a 7’ to 9’ the balls are running 29% longer on average. Hitting a ball in from one corner to the other is a hell of a lot longer on a 9’ compared to 6’ or 7’. Imagine a corner to corner on a 12’ snooker table. The other difference is ball size as you say as American balls are 12.5% bigger in essence making the pockets tougher due to ball size. Then the difference in pockets & the corners rounded EU or sharp corner American type & then also the shelf depth difference between the two & the difference in shelf depth between the brands of tables. Then last but not least American pocket size tip to tip can range from wide to small or shimmed down even smaller. The World Pool is using 9’ tables with American style corner pockets shimmed down to 4”. That is tight with the larger American balls. Cheers
After playing both for years, American style tables are far more forgiving and are easier to pockets balls on. Speed control is much more important to consistently pocket balls on English style.
Thank you for your this informative video :)
First get a lot of money.
What is the 57" 3/4 length cue in this video? It looks nice!

I hope this helps. 😊
This is a no brainer. Certainly slate is preferable. I think a better topic for a video is if you have compromised finances or space, such that a pool table might have to be moved, and you are not a pro--in other words, you're just a regular guy who likes to relax with his friends or family and play pool--can you still gain satisfaction from playing on one made from MDF? And the answer is yes. They CAN warp, but if you take care of them and don't expose them to extreme fluctuations of humidity and temperature, they won't warp. I have a bumper pool table from the '70s--one of the junkiest one's made sold by Sears--that spent 20 years in my garage in Philly, and the MDF is virtually unaffected.
yeah, i'd agree. I had pool tables growing up. Always with a slate bed. I always just assumed that mdf ones etc wouldn't play nice and would feel like playing on one of those £25 kids tables from argos, but I was wrong. They have an American style table where I work and I actually assumed it was also a slate bed, until I noticed the brand on the table and done some googling and realised it was MDF. So yeah, unless you're a pro or you just really want a slate one and can afford it, a thick well made MDF table is absolutely fine
British tables are more challenging and more fun for me :) i feel like I’m cheating on American tables haha cheers thanks for the informative video!!
Mdf swells because well it’s particle board. Which means warping . Slate is the only way to go
MDF will only swell if it soaks up water from a large spill especially on the edges. Otherwise it will not swell with changes in humidity or temperature in the room. You can also purchase moisture resistant mdf which is used in bathrooms etc. I'm a carpenter / joiner by trade.
can we use concrete?
Yeah. And cannonballs 😉
Brilliant video mate! Wondering if we can get British table in New England US?
Hi Yes, we can look into getting a table to you, but we need to provide a quote from our Sales Team - please email sales@libertygames.co.uk with the item you want and full delivery address and they will get back to you with options. Hope this helps - thank you!
And all of this because in England we design houses for hobbits where a ‘double’ room can be 10 foot x 10 foot 😅
Quick Summary: MDF tables: suck but are cheap and good for people who lack expirience on a slate bed table. Slate bed: more expensive and way better.
The table at the start, how big the that table?
Hi there, the size of the table at the beginning of the video is 6ft - hope that helps :)
I don’t know why 90% of the comments are so harsh. It’s a toy.
Can you put a link to the absolute best MDF table that is available please
Hi there, The best MDF table we have is The Deluxe Foldaway Folding Leg Pool Table www.libertygames.co.uk/store/pool_tables/mdf_bed_home_pool_tables/deluxe-foldaway/ More information available on our website. Thanks for your question :)
My thinking is that anything flat covered with the same cloth is going to play the same...you said that pockets/rails are different on an mdf table so if the mdf table makers just make everything identical apart from the bed then you wouldn't be able to tell the difference
@@Cristobal_2012 for sure, with regards to longevity, slate is ideal; i was just thinking about how it feels to play on initially
Thank you on helping me pick cue size!
Mate £99 for installation that's absurd
For lifting 100+kgs of slate, assembly/installation and levelling most likely with two people? I think it’s pretty reasonable tbh. Especially when some companies charge over that just for delivery of large items and more again for installation etc.
You can buy a real car or a toy car for your kids to play with. Same with pool tables, you can buy a real table or MDF one.
This video is incredibly helpful and has definitely cemented me buying a table from yourselves over any other company! Amazing, thank you
Instruction on how to build would be good for video
Where can I buy one?
Hi there, you can buy a pool dining table here: www.libertygames.co.uk/store/pool_tables/dining_top_pool_tables/ - Thanks for your question :)
What a lame table
Mdf is for kids ,slate is the only way to go for serious players.
You keep saying that but what is the difference ? how is it better ? apart from build quality and it will last so much longer.
@@pgale Slate is a stone, so it's dimensionally stable. It will be the same a million years from now. MDF is made from wood which is dimensionally less stable--is more affected by temperature and humidity changes. That said, I have an MDF bumper pool table that's been sitting in my garage for 20 years and I finally have the time and space to refurbish it. The felt and bumpers are shot, but the MDF bed is still fine.
I have a 13' x 11' room, what would be the ideal pool table and cue size?
9 feet taple is very good i think
Wow amazing review. Not a single word about mdf or slate. A lot of talk about the rails and the felt, which have absolutely nothing to do with the table being mdf or slate. Smh
Do you always do it like this?
It's simple, American pool is a toy version of pool.
That's funny, I was gonna say the same thing about British pool. Your tables are ridiculously small.
@@infidel1993That makes it more difficult less space means less room to manoeuvre the white. Also because it's a smaller table a lot of the balls block each other. Also I find the pockets on American pool tables a lot more forgiving then the pockets on English pool tables. I think English pool table pockets are alot more tighter then American pool table pockets.
Do people drink tea while playing pool?
I do regularly.
Glass is best, lolbetter than slate for ball energy, lol
Question, will a modern MDF coated table be compatible to a slate for ball action etc? Or are they miles apart. Thanks.
Hi, The only real drawback of an MDF table is in its performance. Whilst the composite beds produced by factories today are incredibly advanced, and some offer a quality of game that is approaching that of slate, there is still a trade-off between game performance on one hand, and cost/weight on the other. www.libertygames.co.uk/store/pool_tables/buying-advice/mdf-vs-slate-pool-tables/
I was expecting something that explained what size you should get assuming no room limitations. This vid should have been entitled "How to choose a pool cue for small rooms".
I played American pool and it had a triangle, the balls are bigger I noticed than the British balls but the cue seemed the same to me
Just size down on the table if dont have five feet in all areas from the play space. Short cues really take away from the overall experience. If you play a lot on 9ft tables and are 6ft tall or taller a 60 inch cue makes a world of difference.
thanks this is what i needed to know being over 6ft if it’s worth getting a 60 inch cue
Your video guide was truly helpful. Many thanks from Austria!
Great video, useful information
Cue tip size will determine the amount of spin you can put on the cue ball but the issue of the farrell splitting based on the force you put on the cue ball is very rare.
I’m looking at the signature tables they are a thing of beauty 😊
There is HUGE difference on how pocket corners are cut. On American pool table there is larger margin for error allowed when playing ball along the rail. On British pool table the ball played along the rail has way much more tendency to not go in. It is very similar how Chinese pool table are built. Chinese pool table is standard tournament 9ft, played with American pool balls, however, the pocket rails are cut like on British pool tables. It means, the pool player on Chinese pool table has to be much more precise, as the pockets are not forgiving anything.
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
