I always believed they had nothing to do with each other. I always thought that they were all just ghostly echoes of people that never came out of the caves. I always assumed the villagers had some relation to it. Like the one's you see are the ones left after 90% of them were wiped out.

Those new sounds sound like there's a mysterious creature or alien hiding inside the unexplored parts of the caves and is looking for its prey to make a mistake.

Sounds like a reversed warden

Oh my goodness bro. Recently today on my hardcore world i uncovered a small cave. It didnt have any mobs but once i went a bit down i heard rattling of a skeleton. Like a normal person i closed off the dark side of the cave and left only the bottom none covered. I then mined gold to find another cave that im pretty sure led into an abandoned mine. AS SOON AS I ENTERED, A CAVE SOUND PLAYED AND I RUSH UP AND CLOSE OFF EVERY ENTRANCE AND LEAVE ONE BLOCK TO LOOK. after i look away once I SEE A SKELETON IN FULL GOLD ARMOR THAT CANT SHOOT ME BECAUSE IM HIDDEN. im so happy it played rn. (btw the cave was stacked i got 4 diamonds 2 gold and 68 red stone) (what made it scarier that it was the entrance to the mine and the opening that led into the mine was pitch black on the other side)
