Why did you first add some new solder before desolder it later? Thank you.
I added leaded solder to the unleaded to lower the melting temperature. This makes it easier to desolder.
U have nice channel ❤ good luck Ahmad from @gamergy_syria
Thanks mate!
I have one that I replaced the power circuit but no joy, I think I messed something up so I will go back to it and make a further investigation. It’s fun to do even if I fail
Trying to fix these things is really fun, even if it fails. And I failed a lot 😄
What should I clean it with
Hi. I used 99.9% IPA to clean it, because it evaporates quickly. But you can also use windowcleaner to do the job.
Nice video!😁
Thank you very much☺
I've got a Lynx 2 here in bits I need to get back to. Did a power circuit rebuild and recap but was still having issues when I last looked at it. I really need to get that back on the bench and try bring it back to life as it's the original one I had from the 90s.
I hope you get it up and running again. I too have a few in pieces, that I bought in a joblot. Need to get them working.
@@TheKonsolist I've only just recently started to try my hand at this (getting too old for military now) so still very much wet behind the ears. Manged to revive a DS and Game Gear so far and got a couple other game gears here I managed to pick up cheap that I've been working on. Look forward to your next video.
It's a really rewarding hobby. Glad you like my content!
I have two of these exact units and I installed then brand new in Oct 2009. One has just started making a noise in one of the fans otherwise they still are rock solid. I paid a hefty price for them back in 2009 I think nearly $900 each, but they were for my high end gaming PC I was building back then. In crossfire mode they are unbelievable! I wish I could get my hands on a second hand one as I could swap out the fan on my dodgy one and I would continue to use them as they are great for what I use them for these days. Cheers
Is the tape you are using to replace the old tape just double sided tape or a special thermal tape and if so can I ask what thickness it is and how you bought it? I have found it in rolls on line but it is only 0.1 of mm thick? does it serve a purpose other than to cushion the cover or does it actually transfer heat? Any help much appreciated as I was able to order two replacement fans from the US and will be attempting this same re application of the thermal paste.
It was a special 1mm thermal tape.
@@TheKonsolist Much appreciated. I think I have found some on Amazon. I hope I can get both my 4890's back up and running. They have done 14 years of had work and still out perform some cards today to some degree. Cheers

Hello, I just came across your channel. I was just wondering what kind of tape did you use at 4:40?
Hi, that was Kapton tape.
When Dreamcast was powered on, I pulled out the AV cable and the graphic chip broke, do you know how to fix it? By the way, I live in South Korea.
I will have to do a little research to find out how to fix it.
@@TheKonsolist OK
bro, I need your help. I want to fix my controller because it has a drift issue. I want to change the joystick, but I don't know which one could work or be compatible with this controller. Please respond.
hi, I will take mine apart and take a look. maybe I can find a compatible one!
Looks like a generic one to me. You should be able to find one on Amazon or Ebay
@@TheKonsolistseriously Thanks brother, I didn't think you would respond.
Glad I could help!

Mine won't work with a HDMI adapter. So maybe if i clean my power supply?
Does it work with the original cable?
@@TheKonsolistyes it works rca . But not the adapter which is strange. Used to work in the previous Dreamcast
i also have a same one but when try to charge it it doesnt show the light and does not even turn on but before the seller sold it it was working fine, any idea what the problem would be?
Have you tried a new battery? Or maybe try to clean the contacts?
@@TheKonsolist thanks I’ll try it , I’m from a place where there is no Nintendo officially so which battery can I use? It’s a lithium ion battery so would a battery from a keypad or a feature phone work?
You should be able to buy a 3rd party one from Amazon or Ebay
@@TheKonsolist sure eBay has a high delivery over here I’ll try Amazon thank you very much
I have 2 PS2 Slims with the same issue. They turn on but I dont get any output. I tried the trick to change the output type. One of them though was working, I put it away and next time I tried it it wasnt displaying anything. No idea what it is
I'm not an expert but maybe it broke some of the solder balls under the GS(Graphics Synthesizer) if you have a heatgun you can try heating up the chipset and if you don't have a heatgun then you can do oven method to mke this PS2 back again (ovening method is not recomended on working ps2's but this one look dead so it should be fine bc I done this method on one of my dead gtx 1650 super and it got working again) (also sorry for my bad english if I made a mistake)
Good idea. I will give it a try. Thank you for the suggestion ☺
Thank you for sharing

Hello please can you tell me the voltage of purple ziner diode n64 power supply
I only found one schematic of the PSU. There it says 16V - 18V. www.badcaps.net/forum/troubleshooting-hardware-devices-and-electronics-theory/troubleshooting-power-supplies-and-power-supply-design/69840-nintendo-64-psu-secondary-side-dead

Thanks so much!
Very GOOD job!!! Keep Going!!!
Thank you very much!!
Good job! Of the 2 Game Gears I've had I've managed to fix just the one so far (a VA1). The VA0 I have is being stubborn with fixed horizontal lines and doesn't seem to be reading game. I'm going to get it back on the bench tonight after work and see if I can fix either of those issues. I really want to put a new IPS cleanscreen in it (from RetroSix) but obviously want to make sure it will actually work before spending on it.
Thanks! I hope you get it up and running. I also have a modded GameGear with an IPS screen. Love this thing!
@@TheKonsolist Thanks. All the videos I've seen of them look absolutely mint
Fixed it with a big gap by the hinge
good vid, thanks for da info
What type of solder and flux did you use?
I use leaded solder 60/40 and chipquik smd291 flux.
Graag gedaan lief broertje ❤
why’d you share this method if it didn’t work??
So others don't have to do it😊
Hey i was wondering if i could send you my Nintendo dsi it has the same problem but im not able to fix it(i would pay for that)
Hi. I'm so sorry, but I do these repairs just for myself as a hobby.
hi I have a dsi that doesn't charge, whenever i try to charge it, it turns off. im trying to get some help with repairing it because when I tested all the connections there didn't seem to be anything wrong/
hi, three possible causes come into my mind. first, did you try it with a new battery? second, maybe the battery contacts are dirty. third, have you tried it with a different charger? hope that helps. let me know, if you get it working again.
Good to see how to Remove the stick It helped me a lot
Glad my video helped
I have this ,too!
How did you remove the glue? Do you have a discord and would be willing to help me fix it? I want to learn but I feel a bit in over my head
Hi. I used tweezers to remove the glue. I don't have discord, but of course I'm willing to help you, if I can.
@@TheKonsolistI tested it, my prongs are not as thin as yours but I wasn’t able to get a high reading like at all I’m pretty sure I was touching the metal parts and never came up or close to 240
@0hleg OK. There's a great video that shows what else to test. th-cam.com/video/3BipPFDB4BA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lN9ZrhforkMLTN5m
@@TheKonsolist but it just showed 0 so idk, do you think it was broken or not?
If it showed 0 it is broken
Ours makes a clicking noise. It will not read the disc. Would this fix the problem? Or is it a bad laser? Ty
Sounds like something broke. Maybe a gear. Just open it up and take a look. Or maybe it's dirty and this prevents it from working properly
@@TheKonsolist I just ordered the little screwdriver set. I'll take it apart and see. Ty
Keep me informed😊
@@TheKonsolist sure will. Ty again
Interesting
I have a pile of these. The bigger ones have up to 1.3mah so more useful. I am planning to reuse one of the shells with two batteries inside and one of those charge regulators as a power bank
That's a great idea. I foolishly threw the shell away. Well, hindsight is 20/20. But I'm sure I'll find more of these.
It should not be legal on so many levels hahaha So wasteful!
Definitely!
Is there any way to add the mode button?
I just opened my Sega and I have no idea how to do it. Maybe there is a way, but I don't know it. Sorry.
How to put back the button easily but it works
I have a problem with this extension. The additional memory works, but the clock does not work (no clock found message). I tried replacing the clock chip but it still doesn't work. What might be damaged? Was könnte beschädigt sein?
Maybe the crystal is damaged. Or a broken trace on the board.
@@TheKonsolistOK, I will try to replace the crystal. I checked the paths initially and they seem OK. Power supply to the clock chip OK (there is voltage).
@@TheKonsolist Replacing the crystal did not help. The clock is still invisible.
I read about a setclock option. Just don't know how it works exactly
@@TheKonsolistI tried this command with the RESET and SAVE options but the clock is still invisible.
might want to consider using flexible LED filament as it would be a better direct replacement for the florescent bulbs
That's a great idea! I have some of those. And a project for it, too. I have a portable display for the PS2 with a bad backlight. Thanks for the tip😊👍
